Hi, I'm Uyen Ninh but please just call me Uyen!
I moved from Vietnam to Germany 3 years ago for studying. I make silly videos about how Germany looks like through the eyes of a Vietnamese student - on my way to be your favourite Ausländer! :D - Komedie
"are you searching for a partner or someone who can survive zombie apocalypse?" that line had me dying of laughter 😂
That line was even the best of the whole Video! I love your Videos! Watch them every time, they pop up on CZcams.
it's really hilarious. LMAO.
"Honestly? Both would be very cool." Bwahahaha!
I laughed at that too.
He kinda has a point though :D what's the point of a partner when they can't survive the apocalypse with you?
The role reversal with your fiance shaking you as you while you're being shaken as him was hilarious 😂
This could definitely be a new comedy track. He plays you and you play him!!
We needed to film it 10 times, He enjoyed it very much 😂
This was my favourite part!
I love his voice as her 🤣
@@maggieroodt I didn't even notice xD now I feel dumb😂
The part where you have to tell us that he didn't stare at you creepily made me laugh so hard 😂 You guys are so cute.
Yea, the note card. SO, funny.
😂 😂 😂 It's considered rude to stare hard at👀 someone else in many other European cultures. U could start a fight for staring too much. 😅
My dads German & my mom is Japanese. Their first date was a 2 hour hike. My dad told my mom it was going to be a nice walk which to him was a walk but it’s definitely a hike to anyone else lol
😂😂 so cuteee
😂
I`m a German and I hate hiking tours
@MrJueKa But instead, you like maybe to ride with a bike. Right?
@@EigenePfadeGehen On hiking tours you walk, not always, but often with a light small backpack, on trekking tours you walk too, but with a heavy or very heavy bigger backpack ... you ride a bike on bike tours ... that`s why I like to ride with a bike more 😉
Now we just have to clarify whether "bike" means a bicycle or a motorcycle and I mean the motorcycle, but both are often named as "bike" and are therefore quickly confused.
"He didn't stare at me creepily."
* Him staring at her creepily off camera while she is forced to say that.
How did you knoww 👀
Which kind of creepy? Sexy creepy (like Tom Hiddleston as a vampire) or stalker creepy?
😂😅
While he's holding the rice cooker "hostage", of course. 😂
His first day in the country?? That is absolutely destiny! Love your fun, lighthearted content, it's exactly what the internet needs more of!
👍👍
Great movie 😂
I love that no matter what you're doing your comedy is obviously done with a lot of love for both cultures. Everything you do is so funny, but in such a wholesome way, where I can laugh at the cultural differences while learning so much about both. Part of why you're so successful is because there's so much love in everything you do. You deserve it!
Absolutely well said!!
Couldn't agree more!
exactly!
I love how he is serious about online privacy. I wish more people were of that mind!
So, Abundance, is that your real name? 😅 im German, btw.
@@terrapax8554 lol, no.
I am neither German nor Vietnamese but girl you are funny AF ❤😂
each of the videos make me smile even if I had a bad day.
Same here 🤣
Totally agree, she is so funny and so genuine, I just love her!
The same.
it's really impressive how accurately you can mimic how he says sweetie
OMG that last comment about how he did not stare at you creepy made me break out laughing...I needed that today. Thank you!
She's sooo sweet 🏵️
I have a German family, but I was born here in the states and your observations about Germans are hilarious. I never even noticed some of the things that you do, and it’s so funny when you do and I say “OMG my whole German family does that.” So funny
Ditto!
I love that he gave you a note to remember to say that he most certainly did NOT stare at you "creepily" when he first saw you!
I LOVE that instead of flat out refusing the couple shirt idea, he figured out a way for her to feel loved in a way that fit his personality & culture. ❤❤❤
Hi caitlin
that's how you maintain a relationship.
yesss exactly i was just thinking that its so adorable for the confused partner to be like "o...k? uhh this is as close as i know in my culture, wanna try that?" and having that work out because at the end of the day its a meeting halfway thing! like yeah i would like to match but i dont also want to feel so abnormal as to feel ostracised by others looks
I also like how in another video we see they got Pokemon shirts that match- because he loves Pokemon so much -hehe
Now I can’t think of anything else but getting that matching jacket, too. Where did your bf get it from?
As a South American married to a German, this is so spot on, we were both laughing at and with each other hysterically ♥
L
My husband's family are 3rd generation Canadian-Germans, and there are so many parallels I notice from your stories because the small town he is from has a huge German demographic to the point that many are bilingual, even though born in Canada. Lovely people, proud of their culture. Love your gentle humor in your videos!
Yes please share
Third generation Canadian-Germans.... ah, Third Reich soldiers who escaped overseas 😂😂😂
@@valeriewinter6217brother in christ there were millions of germans that setteled here before ww2
the way she ends the long form video with her saying thank u and have a nice day....so cute and down to earth!! it's such a stark contrast to youtubers and the typical rehearsed feeling acting - nothing wrong with that at all but it's just very cute and refreshing. i love your shorts but this video was so cute too!!! the german vs viet parents meeting was hilarious!
Latinamerican lady dating a german gentleman here, this is so spot on xD Your videos make me feel seen and make my life here in germany easier, you are the best Uyen ❤
which country? how did he approach you? i want a latina too :,-(
@@laser00 You act like Latinas are some kind of pets?!?!
You will have a hard time getting any partner regardless of their ethnicity.
👎
@@laser00 The latinas are very kind hearted 💖 If you get to know any someday, be a gentleman and you will win a treasure for life 🥰
Oh, and don't forget to learn some Spanish, or Portuguese ✌️
Good luck!
She's actually a really good skit maker
I laughed out loud that’s definitely not something that happens with most SNL
Seems like nothing has changed in 40 years! I met a German in my youth (hello Heiner!) This video brings it all back. Except it wasn’t a walk around a lake it was a 3 week trek in the Himalayas. It was exhausting but oh so interesting and I have never had a problem scooting up a mountain since. I have very fond memories. Looking back now it was a highlight of my life.
How is this channel not more popular?! My life is kinda crappy right now, and this channel has really made me laugh and given me some much needed levity.
Same!
What? She has nearly 2 Million Subscribers!!!
@ChrissieSM My comment was written back in Spring 2023. Her channel has grown so much since then!! So exciting to see a great creator grow.
@@elizabethsmithakaelizabeth3332 , apologies!
I‘m a German girl dating a Vietnamese boy so I can relate with some of the points 😄 Especially the active dates and the parents 😂 Love you’re vide style! You always make me laugh 😊
How is it the other way round? Do you as a girl have to do something special when meeting his parents?
@@nitka711 It was pretty chill to be honest, he was a bit nervous, but everything went fine and they liked me a lot :)
As a German who lived abroad a lot, watching your videos makes me reconcile with myself and the German culture. This is very therapeutic. Thank you
This cannot be underestimated! Or overemphasized!
Datenschutz!! 😂
Your video and storytelling is so wholesome and adorable. I think all your viewers are very happy for you and German boyfriend to have found each other and started your amazing life adventure together. 💕
You are hilarious and it's organic, that is rare. You both work well together because you RESPECT one another's individuality. Keep your respect at 100% and you will continue with a long lasting lifelong relationship that will only flourish and grow. ❤ 🎉❤
As a German it's so nice to see how you explore everything about German. Love you Uyen❤️
i think its too soon to say the L word😄
Helps me understand my country better (I still don’t)
Brazilian here, married to a German and confirming: yes, it's 100% true!!! It's been 20yrs and I'll never forget our first date walking "in der frischen Luft" mid January 🥶
😂😂😂😂 But if you take it with humour (like you do, like I do) expect a wonderful time together with a nerdy German and a long lasting marriage ❤
nerdy German 🤣🤣🤣 I can't!
Looove your stories!!!!!🥰🥰🤩
nerdy but very reliable and honest german 😊 it's abt my husband too
I'm only 12% german but I feel like 100% needy German
*an der frischen Luft 😊
I love your sense of humor and really enjoy your videos Uyen!
Excellent video…I loved it! My husband and I have been married 36 years, but I was from an Armenian family in the US and he was from northern Denmark…huge culture clashes. But it was fun, too, and here we are, 42 years after meeting!
I loved this! I lived in Germany about 25 years ago. I had forgotten about the stare. At first I was really uncomfortable being stared at but then I accepted it as just another cultural difference. Then I COULD STARE! It was so freeing!!
why would they do that? I hate it when people stare at me or i think that the person likes me 😂🤣
@@Chnx050 it's just a cultural difference. Staring is more socially acceptable. Get you beat up in most of the US
@@frankieamsden7918 I see.😂 you will get beat up too if you do that in my country 😂
It's very western, but I'm not sure if it's a individual liberty thing or a Judeo-Christian thing. I sometimes worry that approaching a girl you would be intruding upon her experience. And on the Christian side, to actually speak to your attraction would be to openly confront her with the sinful aspect of her womanhood.
If you stare like that in the US, you'll live to regret it. 😂
As a German I was laughing a lot! For sure "Datenschutz" must be one of the first words any expat learns here. Love your content ❤
The Jack Wolfskin flatrate for old couples is so real in Germany 😂 AND THEY GO HIKING! 🤣🤣🤣
"It's 39 degrees and it's melting your skin off!" Had me dying! I have said this so many times to my English fiance. I live in the Philippines and I can totally relate . 🤣
one year on youtube and already a national treasure
you go girl !
Multi-national treasure!
2:46 “IM SHAKING U UNTIL THE “L WORD” FALL OUT 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is so funny! And I also can relate to the german and to the vietnamese cultures although I'm from Russia. Your videos helped me a lot when last year I moved to Argentina and couldn't get all the local features which differ from Russia.
Thank you! ❤
As the wife of a German, I love your content (though I am surprisingly often the German in the sketch). Also, your comedy and timing is just very good!
You are such a fun ambassador for intercultural living! Judging by the German clichés and idiosyncrasies that are on point, I think I'm learning a lot about the Vietnamese mentality as well.
The part about being so moved by the fiancé's statement about his parents having no business about his life decisions was quite shocking. It made me realize how much we take it for granted that we don't let our parents dictate our lives and that we focus on our happiness first even if we love them. It's hard for me to imagine that it's an unknown concept in other cultures.
It is true, but somehow I think parents can save children from a lot of heartache too...they see the red flags right away, in India, we take our parents opinion into consideration and generally(not all) have long lasting relationships...I m often surprised how confident kids and young adult are in the western countries though...they are so sure of themselves...maybe due to early independence...
@aastha6823 Well, I can only speak from personal experience as a German. Here, we do ask our parents for advice and take their opinion into consideration. But there's always a strong desire to make our own decisions. I think you could say that our culture defines maturity by our capability to be self-reliant and confident. Relying too much on your parents or being too obedient despite being an adult often results in being mocked by others. It's fine to ask your parents for advice from time to time, but it's expected that you make your own decision without being influenced by others.
@@aastha6823THATS true!! My mom couldve saved me from both of my abusive partners, but i couldve done the same for her since i had already experienced it by then
@aastha6823 but parents can also often be the cause of problems and in the end, you only truly learn those lessons that life taught you. Your parents experience can not shield you from life.
@@NoxAtlasit's funny that you think that we don't take our own decisions, ofcourse we do , to be honest I feel people in the west have had too much relationship experience themselves that they may think they can make their own decisions,...In India we don't get into relationships easily, we take time and it is frowned upon to have had many bfs or gfs before marriage...we are very cautious in general before we get into a relationship and do also respect our parents perspective...although can't say for all, India often follows the west and many Indians have become casual in relationships in the metro cities...I guess to each their own...
Love your videos. Your relationship is blending your cultures and teaching everyone that differences can be accommodated!
I absolutely enjoyed it. I would welcome longer comedy videos. Keep in mind that you need time for studying, too. So, whatever comes: I will purely enjoy it. Thank you for your work!
Thank you!!
"My friends are getting married after 1 month of dating." I'm Vietnamese and this is so true. Every single one in my family beside from me think that you should get married after 2-3 months dating. I think that it's not enough time to get to know your partner. In a 2015 study in the journal Economic Inquiry, they found that couples who dated for 1-2 years were 20% less likely to later get a divorce than those who dated less than a year. The study also shows that the longer the couple dated before marriage, the less likely they were to divorce. I believe that people shouldn't get married before dating each other for at least a year.
This is very true. Most people don't take the time to learn and grow themselves before they start dating. Intimacy, sex, love, and sexuality are different components of individual people, and they should take time for themselves.
Dating is fun, but it's not supposed to lead you to marriage. Dating multiple people helps you learn understand this
This is really interesting Swedish person here. My husband and I dated for a year moved in together and after another year got engaged to be marrried. Normally here you live together for 1-2 years at least before getting married and custom is that you marry roughly a year after getting engaged.
Are there a lot of divorces in Vietnam? Or do people just learn to get along with each other if things turn out different than expected? I'm European and can hardly imagine ...
@@jamon3668 I was wondering about the same thing. In some cultures, although people dated a short time before marriage, this does not lead to a high divorce rate.
Is this study done in Vietnam?
Ahh your depiction of your relationship is so sweet. Your appreciation for your partner is heartwarming. Best to you both!
I was in a bad sad mood and now after watching your video I still feel my belly from laughing and can continue my day smiling. You are amazing!
Laughter can be the best medicine sometimes 😂❤hope you feel better
@@vivian2217 I am, thank you ! 🥰
That was great! Honestly, I think it was a blessing that your boyfriend didn't want to be in videos, because you playing both parts is comedy gold.
My Uncle is Asian and his wife is Austrian. Whenever I watch your videos I always video call them and they confirm that it's very relatable. It's fun!
Matching windbreaker jackets part was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
I just love your humor. I am married to a german and I am American. We had a little cultural shock when I moved to Germany in 2004,, but I just love the German Volk. I live in a small town and they were nice to me from the first day. I love your perpective.
It was absolutely hilarious! The hiking date bit actually did me in. I work with (not in) a German company and about a year ago or so had a chat with a German colleague, us exchanging stories about our hiking adventures in the Alps. And I said: 'Well, maybe we could go hiking together one day'. Now I'm thinking how he might have interpreted it...
Dont worry we go hiking with friends too ;)
"Did not stare at me creepily like that" 😂😂 while reading from a card. Lolol too funny.
The two of you are so funny and sweet. I laughed and had my heart warmed at the same time
the way you added that last commentary is so adorable and totally couple goals 😂 just goes to show how genuinely caring the relationship is ❤❤❤❤
Watching your videos from France ! You are really funny... I love the joyfull way you look at things. Your "fiancé" is lucky.... Laughts and jokes are essentiel in a relationship (been married over 40 years, I should know 😉).
Keep on posting, you are a joy to watch!
Your studious observations about the cultures gives a lot of leaning and you're so so lovely as a person.
I am ADDICTED to your videos (shorts and long videos), can watch them for HOURS at the time! Love your sense of humor! From a french canadian! ❤🇨🇦
If the fiancé decides to show his face with the world one day, I won't believe it's him unless he's wearing that hoodie and cap
Your videos are my favorites! Helps me understand my Dad’s German family culture, still strong even after four generations in the US.
🤣
I love this! And I love watching videos showing both you and your fiance's differences, yet both of you fits together so well! It's so sweet 😭😭😭 I wonder if there's anything that both of you fight over though before coming to terms on how to tolerate, given the cultural differences? 🤔 I saw in your Insta that you had your Master's exams recently, I hope you get good results!
Thank you! I look forward to seeing your videos! Each one is delightful!
I love your videos...and the longer they are the better.
Your humour is so perfect and your observation regarding the German habits is so spot on and exposed with so much love. Thank you from the bottom of my German heart😁.

You are so talented Uyen. Funny, clean, insightful comedy...actually the time went by fast...almost ended too soon!
This was adorable and funny. I especially liked the moments when you found ways to blend/appreciate each other's cultures.
long form or short form you make some really lovely videos and I am always happier after I see them! Thank you for sharing.
You are brilliant! Always funny and smart content. Thank you!
Our story was exactly the same as yours. I met my husband in Hoan kiem lake too and it was his first time in Vietnam and I met him in his first hour in Hanoi after a long flight. I was a 2nd year student at that time, trying to learn English from foreigners and we kept long distance relationship for 3 years. Now we has been together for 6 years. I just feel it’s so funny about how you met your destiny too ❤️
I love this video so much!! Please share more! It is so cool to learn about relationships in different cultures. My parents are both from different countries as well and growing up as a biracial child it was hard to find things videos like this that I can relate too. I am so happy that you are proud to show a diverse relationship! Thank you for what you do!
Agree!
It is great how you play different people with small changes in outfit. It's a funny way to learn how we are different here and I learn much about vietnamese people. Please continue💯

This is adorable. And I was going to ask if you two met in Vietnam - so then you decided to move to Germany to study and be with him? That's so sweet. (I'm a sucker for these kinds of stories, probably because I'm American and my husband is Australian.)
She has a long form video about it!
I loved it! I know thngs were more exaggerated but that's always been yor comefic flare while still teaching things about both your countries. I loved this spin too though. And honestly your videos are so wholesome and funny. And you two are seriously adorable !
