    With the cardboard spools, I rip the two sides off and then use the spools that came with the printer as they split in half. There are also spool models built into the printer. This works the best with the AMS so far. You do not need to remove the center cardboard spool as the spool model slips under that.

      I messed around with all sorts of different rollers and rings for cardboard spools, even tried designing my own, but wasn't happy with any of them. You need rollers to be very snug on the cardboard so that they don't slip when the AMS is back-rolling them, but you also need them to be very narrow because the bottom of the AMS has channels that are only about 10mm wide, and if your rollers rub against those, you'll have retraction errors too. If your cardboard spool is dented or not perfectly rounded or centered, a roller can exacerbate that and make it wobble in the AMS, and if your roller has retaining clips that go over the edge of the cardboard to hold it in place, stuffing it under those clips can create the dents and imperfections you don't want.
      In the end, it's *much* easier to just wrap a single layer of electrical tape around each edge of a cardboard spool. That gives you great traction, no slippage, no extra width, doesn't need to be carefully adjusted for different brands, and it's faster than printing even the smallest roller. Which should be a lesson to us: not every problem is best solved with a 3D print.

    Just ordered P1P, but in mean time, decided to download Bambu Slicer and practice on my Ender 3 V2 (the only Creality printer option in version 1.4.1). And to my pleasure, it is fantastic and the quality of print is better than what I was getting with Prusa Slicer OOB and faster. Two Questions: 1) How can I setup my Ender 5 Plus as a new printer in the slicer? 2. Is there a way to directly send the gcode to the Sonic Pad Moonraker/Fluidd interface? Both printers have SonicPads...

    Great video. I'm intending to put mine into a hacked ikea stand with the printer on top and a large garbage bag underneath. What I'm looking for is a printable poop shute that will allow me to "funnel" the poops out the back of the machine and then down thru a hole in the stand straight into a large gardage bin on the level below the printer. Does such a mod already exist?

  • @Leynad778
    @Leynad778 Před rokem +6

    Great stuff you found, thanks👍 I did two smaller sized poop-buckets that can be found on Thingiverse ("bambu lab waste basket"). IMO one of the best mods for the Bambu Lab is a simple cotton-blanket to dampen this beast. First I bought some plywood boards and build a U-shaped enclosure for the sides and top, but the most sound emissions are coming from the back of the printer that needs to be accessible. So I just put a folded blanket on top of the AMS which is just hanging loose over the backside, but huge improvement. Not much improvement in decibel, but it filters this annoying high frequency hall-effect sounds very well and just sounds like common printer with it, not like a factory. IMO Bambu Lab should offer a silencer out of foam for it that fits nicely on the back.

  • @kevinschilling6813
    @kevinschilling6813 Před rokem

    We need the STEP files to add some thickness to the center hole in the cardboard adapters. That would make the area thicker and less prone to fracture. -OR- you have to do the hoop jumping and go through FreeCAD to convert the STL to a solid model then save it as a STEP file. Then.... Make the corrections/alterations.

    X1 Carbon Morpheus?
    Oh by the way, maybe painting the edge of the cardboard spools with nail varnish might make them strong enough to stand upto the AMS.

    Actually the single piece version of the front lip prints fine in the X1. No need to split it.

    yo - purge lines under the finger nail hurt me like no other possibly could. I could not fathom how much that hurt - way more than one would expect. I got myself pretty good though.... drew blood.

    I just thought, has anyone tried using parafilm medical tape on the cardboard edges? Its really stretchy, one wrap i think might do it.

    You know you can upscale the spool rings to fit your spools right? I mean its a matter of measuring and inputting the correct diameter in the slicer...

    I was hoping to see something good. For your Polymaker problem you can design your own in CAD, and print them in PETG, which stands up better than PLA. Design your own. I did with my ECO spools, which were smaller than the Overture rings I had.

    Good informations. But the Y-Splitter does not work. After feeding the filament, it takes some seconds and the filament spools back. After some trials for and back it stops.
    Sometime it works the first time, sometime after 2,3,4 trials. After disassembling the Splitter filament loadings works without troubles. It seems the time is now to long or the force to low.
