- Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba scored the opening goal short handed but that would be the final goal for New York as the Hurricanes answered back with 4 of their own in the 3rd including an empty netter. This is the 2nd straight game that Carolina was able to avoid elimination, this time to force a Game 6 back in Carolina.

They thought they could squirrel away a 1 goal lead. Came out in the third with ZERO intention of playing in Carolinas end. No fight after they lost the lead.
How can this team choke this bad. They looked pathetic right off puck drop. No urgency, bad passes, no shots. I mean Anderson did not have to work hard in this one. Honestly, just disbelief right now on how the team can come out to the home crowd and play like that
It'd been there MO 2 straight playoffs. Thought maybe this year they learner with taking care of business with the caps. But doubt is rushing in right now.

Sucks that the Rangers lost. But, this show is amazing for me, as a casual hockey fan. They articulate lots of details about the game that I would never have noticed. And, how those small things have such a big impact. I feel like my hockey IQ goes up (from zero!) when they break things down like this. (then back down to zero!).
We look slow, stuck in concrete. I didn't feel good about this 1 from the opening whistle. Hope we can get our heads out of our arse on Thursday.
Here we go again Ranger fans! Rangers dominate the beginning of a series and then gas out with no energy for the rest of the series and lose. I know we are still ahead, but if we don't turn this around, we will repeat the past for sure.

Why is nobody talking about Krieder on the staal goal. He just stood there and let Orlov have the puck right outside the blue line until the canes were onside and in position. WHY!? he puts and sort of pressure on him the puck never even gets close to Igor. Doesn't take away from the fact our PP has looked terrible in 3 straight and we generated nothing offensively, no sustained O zone pressure the entire game, but that play i still can't get over.
The Staal goal was primarily on Schneider and Miller who apparently think the NHL is a non-contact league and games only last 40 minutes.

An absolutely pathetic effort in the third period by the Rangers. The Rangers cannot play a hard 60 minutes and they can't defend the front of their net. No scoring from the Top 6. Miller, Schneider, Gustafsson and yes, Trouba, despite the goal, turned a poor effort in the 3rd period. Hes also had a bad series in general. Panarin gets paid 11 million a year, it's about time he learns how to backcheck. They've let the Canes back into this series. Dont you dare out this on Igor. The defense failed him again.
Typical Rangers attitude, this team has issues with staying motivated in games where there is no knife on their throats.

These people talk like the Rangers are that much better than the Hurricanes. They barely won the first 3 games in the series, and they barely finished the regular season with more points than the Canes. The difference was a couple more Rangers wins vs Hurricanes ties. The Hurricanes swept their first series just like the Rangers did. The Hurricanes simply needed to get out of their own funk in this series. We’ll see how it goes on Thursday.
I hope the coaching staff and the players watch these analysis recaps because every one of them is right they totally s*** the bed today

Sorry, but Panarin, Mika, Krider and especially the bum Trouba are not championship caliber players. They are lights out for regular season play, but when it comes to the big stage, and knowing when to shift into another gear, it's just not them. They don't have that killer instinct.
I will not blame any of the young players, it's the veterans where it all starts. These bums have no clue what it takes to win a championship.

They're not. They are toast. This is exactly what happened last year. They run out of gas and lose the will to keep going. You can see it in the last two games. Watch. They will get smoked in game 6 and then put up a mild fight in game 7.
