    Khorkina una de las grandes, sobre todo en asimétricas.

    This was Svetlana’s last year before retiring, and she wanted so badly to score a gold on her way out. So envision the otherworldly pressure she must have been experiencing during this routine for COMPLETE perfection. So intense. Bet Romania was glad to leave with the gold though.

      I never thought the Athens Russian team had a chance of winning gold, but them loosing it to Romania in Sydney made me so sad. They lost by a mere 2 tenths because of beam. Elena Produnova was never a World or Olympic champion, that was pretty much her only chance, and because of falls from her teammates, she never got the opportunity despite being the most consistent member in the team

    Queen 👑 Khorkina

    Unfortunately, Athens just wasn't her prime, and it sucks about Sydney because I thought she had the most potential to win the AA back in 2000.

    • @mht4908
      @mht4908 Před 2 lety

      Had the vault mishap not happen, she would've won for sure. Yang Yun had the potential to medal as well until her fall on the beam. They should've redid the AA on another day, because the gymnasts that fell from the faulty vaulting horse were shaken from it that made them fall on other events as well (eg. Khorkina, Elise Ray). Andreea Raducan vaulted on the faulty horse as well but for some reason she managed to stay on her feet

      @@mht4908 Honestly, they should have just stopped the competition and taken a 30 minute to 1 or 2 hour intermission and began again.

    Strange scoring. I'd forgotten about her major falters on bars and beam. On floor is she supposed to be doing a split 1/1 to tuck jump double? Or a Gogean to tuck jump 1.5??
    I think I'd have done:
    - Vault: 0.1 pre-flight form issues, 0.2 post-flight form, 0.05 chest angle on (stuck IMO) landing = 9.55
    - Bars: 0.30 on the near fall from her stalder 1/1, 0.1 landing = 9.60
    - Beam: 0.1 on insufficient split on switch leap, 0.1 insufficient tuck position on tuck 1/1, 0.1 on the bobble at landing of tuck 1/1, 0.05 on the balance check on full turn, 0.2 on her split half (or simply -0.2 value for I think what was an E Skill at the time?), 0.1 on landing == 9.35
    - Floor: -0.1 for her stumble on the triple turn, -0.15 for imprecise turn completion and control on her switch 1/1 to double tuck jump combo, -0.05 for her chest position on the double pike, -0.1 for imperfect landing control on the double pike = 9.60

      @Zuranthium Před 2 lety +1

      Her double tuck jump attempt on floor here (and many other times) should have been downgraded, which means she loses 0.2 start value. Her triple turn should have been downgraded too, which is another 0.1 loss. She is off the podium altogether if the judges scored it right.

    • @thesovgc
      @thesovgc Před rokem

      @@Zuranthium They must have still felt bad about the Sydney fiasco to award these generous beam and floor SV the last two years of her career. (I'm not really complaining although I would have loved to have seen Pavlova second here.)

    • @SDoesNotKnow
      @SDoesNotKnow Před rokem

      I agree with all of your scores (I guess the judges took out more for lack of amplitude for her vault?). Regarding floor, I also would have taken 0.05 for both of her twists due to crossed ankles/feet for another 1.00 to bring it to a 9.5. She also should not have received credit for that triple turn, thus turning her 10.00 start value to a 9.9, and a 9.400 altogether. I know others said she should not have received credit for the switch 1/1 to double tuck jump combo, but I cut her a break and gave it her as it was about 45 short but that’s enough to give it credit though I’d still deduct for being short of rotation. Even Ponor’s double tuck jump was less than a quarter short but still short and we all know she got credit for it.

      I don't think beam started from a 10 did it?

    Can somebody explain to me the deductions of her vault because I can't see them. It looks very unfair her score!

    • @captainbryce1
      @captainbryce1 Před 3 lety +5

      She's doing her own vault, a Yurchenko half-on, 1.5 tuck off (called a Khorkina II). But she had some pretty bad form deductions in the air. Leg separation, flexed feet, and low chest position on the landing, which is .3 points lost right there. She also showed a lack of control on the landing. While it appeared to initially be a "stick", she walked out of it (with a pretty big step) before turning to salute the judges, which means she's going to get at least another .1 deduction (judges are never fooled by this; they always catch it). So she lost at least .4 points just from what I saw in the clips. With a start value of only 9.9 the score should have been no higher than 9.500. It looks like they were slightly on the low side (which is typical in the all-around competitions), but still in the realm of a "fair" score considering the deductions.

    • @You-dh1du
      @You-dh1du Před 3 lety +3

      It really came down to she thought she got judged too harshly for the landing of her vault, but I think it was a fair score. I think she really took herself out of the gold after her beam performance. I wanted her to win so badly, but it just wasn't meant to be.

    Siento que su ejercicio de suelo fue algo pobre ,el salto muy bueno ,las barras maravillosas aunque ya llevaba 12 años haciendo el mismo ejercicio , la viga fue buena pero el suelo si lo sentí muy pero muy pobre

      El salto no fue exactamente muy bueno, tiene demasiadas deducciones en el aire y el el aterrizaje, "aparentemente" lo clavo y por eso da la impresión de ser un buen salto.

    she bashed Carly for beating her and called herself an olympic champion when she clearly walked away with nothing. Then after she retired, she continues to make vile comments on everything including gymnasts that have come forth saying they were abused. She claimed they sought fame and money. From the Downie sisters to even the 200+ Nassar victims, she kept saying they wanted fame. Thank God she lost

    Kor 'keena, not 'Kor kina; that's so insulting! 🙄😤

      Honestly, the same thing happens in other languages to English surnames. I don't think it was any disrespect on her part, We just have the tendency to read languages using the linguistics of our home language. Many of the sounds in the Russian language do not come natural to English speakers and vice versa. We can forgive and move on i think...
