Im at my ninth month now (38 weeks). My due date is April 21st. I wanted to go for vbac. My baby is 2.8 kgs now, but he s small for gestational age and my amniotic fluid level is just at 7 cm now. My doctor has asked me to get admitted in hospital within this week for a c-section. Is there any chance for a vbac?. Kindly provide your opinion.
It is hard to give a suggestion without knowing everything, but I always recommend talking to your provider about your options. Can they give you the benefits, risks and alternatives to having a csection this week?

They did not talk about natural induction methods like balloon catheter, miles circuit, birth ball exercises, etc. They straight away talked about c section being the only option. The worst thing is, there are not many vbac friendly hospitals in India. I know that I can do it but no one to support me. That's why I wanted to know ur opinion, because you seem very positive. The hospital I'm currently going even has 24/7 emergency - multi-speciality support but doctors are not co operating for vbac. I switched between 3 hospitals for vbac support. Before a week, they said they ll try for my vbac, but at the end they are denying saying they don't want to take any risk.
Remember you can say no ladies!! Listen to your intuition and trust yourself to make the right choice. There's a great acronym called B.R.A.I.N. that helps me sray calm when providers start pressuring me to make a certain decision. It stands for: Benefits, Risks, Alternatives, Intuition, and Nothing. What are these things in relation to the intervention at hand? What does your intuition say? What happens if you do nothing? Ect. As far as amniotic fluid goes, it varies tremendously through pregnancy, and it's decline is normal towards the end of the first trimester. If you have several low fluid bpp's (low is usually anything below a 6) it's a good idea to watch it closely and/or deliver soon. A low fluid level does NOT automatically mean a cesarean is needed. If you have multiple complications that would make a trial of labor risky (like deceleration, placenta preevia, or a previous failed TOLAC) a cesarean is a seriously good option but it's still not the right choice for every mama. You know your body. You know your baby. You deserve informed consent so you can fairly assess the risks with each alternative and choose the route that best serves you. Sometimes that means you tell doctors no, ask a million questions, or switch hospitals all together! It's a lot to go through... I hope it goes smoothly for y'all ❤
