- Arthur Hacker has been one of the more successful artists of his time. He comes from an artistic family background and furthered his studies at the Royal Academy of Art, then moved to France for two years of further study with Bonnat. His independent spirit allowed him to work in many different genres and he was also a remarkable Portrait artist. He traveled with Solomon J. Solomon to explore and paint in Spain and Middle Eastern regions, which enabled him to enrich his palette with a lighter key and subject matter. Hacker is one to admire with each canvas.
Beautifully presented.Arthur Hacker’s portraits are exquisite. He captures the spirit of his subject and that is what makes a painting Great Art. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing his works.
Fantastic! I was just searching this past week for more images of his work. Never found most of what you shared so thank-you.
Arthur Hacker lived his later years in Torquay Devon and was an influential member of the Devon Art Society or South Devon Art Society as it was originally known. I believe research notes on the artist are lodged at both Torbay Library and the the Torbay Museum and some paintings and sketches at Torre Abbey in Torquay.
Good info on Hacker, appreciate your tips on finding more work on him. Thanks
Wonderful video !
Thank you for sharing!
I liked the video very much. Hacker covered so many different styles and subjects. Did he dip into each one throughout his career or did he have phases when he produced one style/subject? It would have been interesting to know what influenced his choice of subject and style.
He was very independent as a painter, hopefully more works will show up. Thanks
