Usually after a cataract surgery an intraocular lens is implanted into the eye an intraocular implantation is a new system that can be placed the eye. It takes some time for the brain it recognize this new system. For so long a patient with cataract will be seeing hazy but soon after the intraocular lens is placed inside the eye vision becomes very clear. So it takes some time for the brain to adjust to the system, it may take a period of 1 day to a week’s time. Secondly depending in the type of cataract surgery, the vision recovery will take longer, even it is a small incision cataract surgery, the healing may take a longer time and the vison recovery will take atleast 10 days. If it is a phacomelulsification or a laser surgery the healing will occur very fast and the patient may be able to see clearly within 1 or 2 days. Also depending on the type of lens that is implanted in the eye, the visual recovery will depend. Suppose a person has gone in for a monofocal lens where he can see only one focus, where he can see the distance clearly, the vision recovery will occur within 2 to 3 days time but if the person has gone in for a multifocal or a trifocal intraocular lens where a person can see a distance, intermediate and a medium distance with the same lens, that takes a little longer time to heal or to recover because all images are formed in the brain in the same time. The brain has to adjust to ignore certain images and to see whatever is required. this may take a week’s time. Usually a person with a multifocal intraocular lenses is preferable to have both the eye cataract surgery within a short duration of time so that the patient can adjust to the new system and start seeing clearly. Depending upon the type pf the cataract surgery the visual recovery may last from 1 week to maximum of 10 days. - Jak na to + styl

You didn't mention corneal edema, which is a common occurrence in cataract surgery, which causes cloudy vision. It usually resolves itself in a few days, but if it doesn't, requires an eye specialist to correct. You really should have mentioned that.

That is one of the biggest questions raised in post operative patients. People rant and NEED to know if the surgery worked or not and is ‘this’ blurred vision going to get better? This question appears to be glossed over, or simply not addressed in these CZcams presentations, like this video, where you have answered on everyone’s behalf.

It's been 20days since my aunt aged 67 underwent her cataract surgery. She was advised to continue with her daily routine ie head bath, cooking etc only after 14 days, which she has diligently followed.
Now... when she is watching her CRT TV, only the part of the TV screen is a black spot in her vision. Everything else she can see. Is there a spectrum of light that the lens is blind to initially and will take time to hey adjusted or is this a permanent damage?

Apakah anak sy akan buta selamanya? Dia baru umur 7 tahun, habis operasi katarak 3 bulan yg lalu dimata kanannya, kata dokter sudah tanam lensa, tapi sampai skrg masih buram. Ada yg bisa bantu saya, saya membutuhkan masukan, informasi dan opsi2 lanjutan utk kesembuhan mata anak saya.
I had two distance monofocal lens put in. Even from the moment I was taken into the recovery area, my vision was clear. After years of cataracts and the last year of being nearly legally blind, it was miraculous. I had minor visual issues - the first night I saw large rainbow colored halos around street lights - I called them ferris wheels because they were very large and the ring was distant from the light at the center They diminished every day and went away entirely by a week. I have always had floaters so nothing new there. I see an odd distortion that looks like rain at a distance sometimes from time to time but it is easy to ignore and block out. It has been less than 3 weeks at this point. Just to say, don't be too fearful of issues. Trust your surgeon.

The only "problem" I've had with my cataract surgery is that tiny little black specks float across my vision from time to time. At first, I thought they were gnats, but then realized that they were souvenirs from the operation.

You need to go for a laser clearance of the inner eye. This happens in 30-50% cataracts after some time.

I've had cataract surgery for a little bit over three months on my left eye and I'm almost completely blind on that I I used to see very very well with it except I had a cataract that was causing me pain in that I so I went to get cataract surgery like I said and now I can't see well with that eye everything is blurry it is like I'm blind in one eye and I'm using only the other eye it's been over three months now so not everything is well with cataract surgery and it doesn't mean that you'll get better in one or two weeks you can come out having problems worse than they were before

must admit i am pretty much blind in the eye i had cateract surgery on, shame as i had great hopes after listening to the sales talk for it.

Why after almost 2 months surgery done.. Robotic LASIK surgery for both eyes.. My eyes are still paining. Bad Starburst and vision is blur.
