I believe that boar taint is referring to a foul smell in the pork, produced by hormones in a male pig that hasn't been castrated. Apparently not everyone can smell it, and it is completely safe to eat pork with it
Not just a foul smell, it tastes horrible too. I'm the only one in my family sensitive to it and it caused such a problem when I'd randomly refuse porkchops as a kid because even putting a bite in my mouth made me sick.
Happy to find I wasn’t the only one who knew what this was (or looked it up. I thought for sure she made it up and was surprised it was a real thing)

@@Xemaredux that’s why I said commercial. In industry farms boar are castrated before they have the chance to taint the meet. With smaller buyers are farms you are much more likely to get it. Not that that should dissuade you as smaller farms are absolutely the way to go when possible imo

This was actually the second time I heard about sweet potatoes and marshmallow tonight, which isn’t a lot, but it’s surprising that it happened twice in one day
Sweet potato casserole is a very common food to be made during thanksgiving (where I’m from). Usually we just make it with diced sweet potatoes, some spices, and marshmallows. Throw that in the oven for a bit and you get an ooey gooey food that’s delicious

20:25 this is called a poke cake! It's a genuine recipe (minus the energy drinks) and it's actually really good. You take white cake, poke holes into it, pour jello over it, then let it set before adding whipped cream as frosting. It leaves you with a very moist cake and is perfect for summer.
But the addition of energy drinks was foul.

I'm going to sit here and HARD defend the salad(all but the chicken, not hard to just cook fresh chicken but whatever). But everything else on it was fine. The dressing is literally a lazy man's Caesar dressing. Lacking the anchovies but subed for the Worcester sauce(it's fermented anchovies, garlic, onion, turmeric, and molasses). It's common to add Dijon to some restraunt dressing, at least the ones I worked at. Mayo is just an aioli(except egg yolk is your emulsifier instead of just garlic and oil), oil, salt, garlic, and lemon.
Again, out of all the hills I'm going to die on, this one is is.

18:34 its a common thing in the south and west of the us, but its mostly just mashed yams and marshmellows nothing else. No clue why it became common around thanksgiving but it did.
Sweet potato, brown sugar, pecans, marshmallows for us. Same thing at the core though. I think we used fresh potato but i was a kid so i dont remember. coulda been canned. Its absolutely delicious though and a great dessert.
