    Finally saw a mazda 2 at the junkyard. Airbags were deployed. This is how I decide that I'm interested in a certain car. Sitting in the interior and judging of the car is easy to work on

    I freakin love this channel!!! Your awesome at explaining things! I've saved so much money on my Mazda 2 by doing things myself by your videos instead of a shop!!

    This is also why I can't work on my own car. I just drop it off and in a few hours it's back. I give you kudos for doing it or trying.

      Having moved out and not having a garage or a place to work on my car, I'm sorta in the same boat. Things like changing my brakes I still will be able to do myself, but oil changes and suspension work will probably have to be done at a shop. Luckily, there's a shop within walking distance of my house where I can take my car and hopefully get suspension issues taken care of. I never got my lowering springs on and at this point, it's probably not gonna happen until next year.
      Maybe I'll bring them down with me when I (hopefully) go to FL next year. Should have time and space to work on it there.

    Thanks for the video. Almost had the whole thing stripped down, 2ND look at the clip, I thought the axle nut came out a little too easily.
    Torqued it up to your spec and voleur tight as a drum.

    Looks good man. And I know what’s like having suspension components that don’t corporate. My 00 Buick needed new front struts so I had a buddy help me out, got the drivers side one on ok but the passenger side was so corroded on the knuckle assembly it had Galvanized (joys of living in the Northeast)
    We tried everything, Soaked it in PB Blaster, smacked it with a hammer, heated it up with a torch, Used an Air gun, etc. Had to just say fuck it and had my mechanic guy put it on and I’m now taking the thing to get an alignment.
    I would do those by myself, but I don’t trust myself with alignments but perhaps your future vid on it will remedy my fears.
    And do you man when it comes to the gloves, I’m the opposite, I need to wear them because I can’t stand the stuff on my hands. If I’m in a pinch and got to do it with no gloves then ok but if I have said option I glove up.

    That was a great video and having watched it I feel I could do it myself, however:
    It was a 10 minute video and we went on to day 3 - that scares me
    I live 15 miles from the nearest auto factor - so anything goes wrong - 2 hour round bus trip
    On balance - I may give the cash to the garage :-)

    Thanks for the video! I am doing the same thing, but have a problem. When I try to remove the large nut to get the bearing hub off, the driveshaft turns, so I can't get it off. Is this because the other tire might be turning? I don't think it is, but who knows.

    Great vid like usual, got a question for you unrelated to the wheel bearing. I bought my second Mazda 2 today and upon inspection it suffers from side shaft seal failure just like my first 2, have you encountered this on yours?

    • @HiroshimaSpirit
      @HiroshimaSpirit  Před 3 lety +1

      The green car has developed a weep in the driver side differential/axle seal but it’s not enough to greatly affect the fluid level... yet. Other than that, no.

    I'm hearing a slight scraping noise from back right wheel. Think it could be a bearing?

    • @HiroshimaSpirit
      @HiroshimaSpirit  Před 3 lety

      Bearings make a loud, low tone humming sound that increases with speed if they’re bad. Does it make the sound all the time or only occasionally?

      It’s difficult to try and figure out a random noise without being there in person, tbh. Check all of your exhaust head shields to make sure they’re not loose and/or contacting anything else.

    • @HiroshimaSpirit

    • @HiroshimaSpirit
      @HiroshimaSpirit  Před 3 lety +1

      Each nut is the size it is because of the load it has to carry. They can’t all be the same because some would be overkill and some wouldn’t be enough.
