- It took 2 days for my other video to age so poorly lmao. Anyways here I got on a slight rant about the new European Super League. This is actually something I'm a lot more passionate about than the Swiss Model because of how absolutely ridiculous the concept it. Hope you enjoy!

Having the dystopia of a “1 league to rule them all” when the US already has already gone that route for decades upon decades now, and we all are smiling :)
But seriously world football, European football, do not do the American model, pls don’t
The model is not bad apart from no regulation .if you can't go down or out of the league then it's awful. It's a better champions league in my opinion , and I love the idea you can have best clubs from around the world playing against eachother but with regulation and stuff it's pointless
this is literally based on euroleague basketball btw
@@ricardobenavides9852 Only Slavs, Turks and Germans give a single shit about Euroleague Basketball lmao, of course it'll fail.
As a Man United fan, calling this a work of satan is an understatement.
I would rather that we get relegated than being part of something this disgusting. I love it when small teams and underdogs perform well in big competitions (Villareal this UCL for example). This is just a prime example of greed ruining the game. GGMU and out with the Glazers.
This is why I love my team Bayern Munich they wanted no part of this and truly care about the sport
Germany as a whole hates that shit. Fans first, fuck capitalism
*_doubt_*
Tbh they would join but the 50+1 rule exists and it stops them.
It's because they aren't in financial ruins
And farming the absouloute shit of the bundesliga
And performing well in every ucl
Not because they care about the fans
@rzf_1.8 winning the bundesliga like almost every year or getting 2nd due to being just too good
Or playing around shitty clubs
Or worst case scenario buying every talent in the league
Brazil in the past had "the 13 club" that organized the Brazilian Championship in 1987 (It was a division between the 13 clubs and the 2 division ones), it was the Brazilian version of the super league, the biggest 13 clubs getting even more richer with sponsorship, tv deals and such.
Your video essays are actually pretty damn sharp. Glad we’re seeing more of them; especially on this subject. Well said 👍🏻
What a legend maqwell is, great content your really funny and entertaining keep it up 👍
As a spurs fan im dissapointed that we are in this.
On another note how the fck are we in this. Leicester won the league not us we are shit.
Money
The "more than 4 billion fans" quote just shows how detached from reality Perez is! The Earth has a population of just below 8 billion! Does it seem remotely plausible that more than HALF that number will ever become football fans? And of those who are, huge numbers would not be remotely interested in watching the shitty little private members clubs, of the ESL!
I searched it up and it said 3,5 billion people consider themselves football fans
This has nothing to do with the super League but i wanted to make this comment because you seem to doubt the size of football
@@Geographyandhistory2024 I find those figures to be somewhat dodgy and implausible though, given the 7.9 billion population of the entire Earth. I come from Scotland, where football is more popular per head of population, than in just about every other country, despite its relatively weak league and the Scottish international team not exactly being that hot. Frequently more people per head of population attend top flight football matches in Scotland, than in any other European country. In 2018, for instance, the average for the Scottish Premiership was 15,973, compared to 24,738 for Serie A. Considering Italy has a population of 58.9 million (compared to the 5.5 million of Scotland!), if football was as popular there, then in proportion to the Scottish Premiership, Serie A should be averaging over 160,000. (I know that's not quite comparing like with like, as the Scottish Premiership has 12 clubs and Serie A, 20, however even taking that into account, it appears that Scotland has many more dedicated fans per head of population, than the likes of Italy!)
The point I have rather long windedly being trying to make? Around 50% of the males I know have no, or at best just a casual interest in football, despite its' huge popularity in Scotland, and I would say that only around 5% or less of the women I know are football fans. I also have friends and have worked beside several people from the US, and none of them was/is a football fan (not of "real" football anyway!) I worked beside several people from India also, who were all far more into cricket than football. (Hardly a scientific study, I am first to admit!)
Overall though, of the people I know from out with the UK originally, some are football fans, but I cannot think of one of them who supports one of the ESL clubs. Of the English fans I know, only around 30% support ESL clubs and EVERY football fan I know, no matter who they support who has expressed an opinion on the subject to me anyway, hates the whole idea of the Super League and has said they will boycott it if it ever happens!
Basically, even if there are 3.5 billion football fans (which I very much doubt, certainly not 3.5 billion dedicated ones!), that would still make the 4 billion claims Perez made nonsense, as 3.5 billion is less than 4 billion and, as I've said, huge numbers of people will not watch the European Shit League, if it ever happens. In fact here's a link about the viewership of the Champions League Final in 2021. Yes, it's true that it just had clubs from one country playing in it, but even in the UK it was estimated that 8.7 million, out of a population of 68 million watched the Final. I certainly did not, as I do not support either club who was in the Final and I can assure you that I will NEVER watch the ESL, if it ever happens! However, if there is such a massive proportion of football fans, then why did such a small proportion of the population of the country of the two clubs playing in basically the biggest club match in World football watch the Final?
www.sportingnews.com/uk/soccer/news/champions-league-super-bowl-bigger-uefa-nfl-global-viewers/d67xqpeols0etr6ugho173ha
Absolutely correct! And of the 7.9 billion people who do live upon Earth (and I am fully aware that most ESL supporters do indeed seem to reside on another planet, and are totally detached from reality!), some of those are babies and toddlers, some of those are from high population countries where the vast majority are not football fans, such as India and the USA and some are from tribal societies, where the basic struggle for survival is far more important than watching a group of spoilt brat, millionaire, prima donnas, prancing about on a patch of grass, when they themselves may be struggling to feed themselves!
Can’t wait to watch Juventus vs Juventus U23 after they go down to serie C

@@Zack_410 In the champions league? Well of course not every week but twice a month back and forth isn't the most environmentally friendly thing to do either, don't forget a country can't have 2 teams in the same group so it lowers the chances of bus trips as well
It’s back.
It would be funny to see the top 6 duke it out for vanorama league promotion
one good thing which would come out of this super league if it did occur is that we get to see some new league winners for the prem, serie a etc. makes it more interesting to watch
Props to Arsenal, Totenham and Man City for hoodwinkling the rest into believeing they were big clubs
5:44 that's also the guy that took a lot of time to understand the off-side rule
I do agree the super league format with no promotion/relagation system was a failure. However, imo, fifa and uefa are even bigger failures, and even more corrupt tbh. You think its a coincidence that fifa have hq in switzerland?
9:01 And while we were reaching this point, what were UEFA and FIFA doing? This whole video makes no sense, you constantly say that there's a problem, but Super League is killing football. But if the problem was already there, how can the super league be the problem? No sense at all. It's nice you finally woke up, but tell all the story please
That being said, the close circuit is completely fucked
The funny thing is that leagues like premier league were against this only because they are scared of their money output down and their own greed. Not giving freedom to the clubs is tyrant behavior because these leagues want money and know without them their executives would not make as much money. So everyone is saying the league is happening only because of greed when actually every other league is against it because of their own greed for money. I think super league should have happened
@@wingedhussar1453 How about you stayed silenced, ya know? If the Super League happened, we would have a competition where "the best of the best" go against one another and are not able to be relegated, but no! Its okay because they invite some other teams, right? You're pathetic 😂
@@zeusadolphus1638 the leagues like premier only want to keep money for themselves.its not about competition at all .if it was about competition they would let the super league happen

The super league would damage fifa because they won’t receive one dime, pound, euro because who will receive the money and benefit are the clubs that’s why fifa lied and cried

The events since kind of proved Perez's point, with the current financial regulations in place FIFA kinda sufficates clubs that are not state ran oil teams.
The fact that people don’t see this, upsets me

I get that you're talking about this problem, but the question is Maxwell, do you even have the solution for it?
I think it kills some exciting underdog games
But I also think it is better than the champions league
It will make smaller teams actually seek for continuous success rather than being a one season wonder and then selling all their stars
We all know Uefa is shit and they too do not care for fans
This is why some competition might be healthy after all
All I want to say is that winning a league requires less luck and more football than winning a cup
It's way better then champions league .this should have happened.you have alot of teams dominate every year in their season while this super league would be the best .although with regulation and ways to get in this league it's a bad idea.there has to be a way to get releagated every year
Super league is a shit idea.
How can smaller teams seek continuous success when they don’t have the money? What a stupid argument
Funny how it’s now Uefa doing it by expanding the number of teams in the champions league

I actually didn’t dislike the simple juventus logo
As an arsenal fan this video was hard to watch
Comrade maqwell 😂✊🏾
Corrupt to the core, money has officially killed football
It's actually opposite.money was the only reason the leagues were against the super league.the leagues own greed was only motivation against this happening.the clubs wanted their own freedom and that's fine let them do it. Yet the leagues didn't want to lose their money makers .don't let the leagues lie to you that it was because it doesn't give competition it absolutely does .

You trying to say something about the Argentina kit? 🤣
Asiático cuatro ojos, con camiseta de argentina hablando de futbol. LOL
So let me get this straight the leagues cry that it's greed only that is why the super league clubs want it done. yet we can see that it's the leagues who actually don't want this to happen because of their own greed because they know without their top clubs their money output would go down. So greed doesn't want greed .we know super league would breed the best competition ever and be the top league every year.its sad it didn't go threw because of premier leagues and other leagues own greed.tbh in my opinion the premier leagues and other leagues are acting like tyrants .and hopefully it will happen again in some years because once it does in few years later the leagues will be forced to work with the super league and allow regulations or their top teams to enter the super league
Don’t watch football if you think the ESL was a good idea it would ruin competition in the sport. There will be no excitement when teams play each other no upsets no drama no rivalries. All the fundamental elements that make up football identity would be gone. The ESL is a horribly Americanised franchise tournament that would kill what football is based on.

You must understand that the Super League contains the clubs that intend to increase profit and spread around the world, so you cannot blame them because you are not in the Bundesliga, which is owned by the public. And you have to know the Super League is legal and that the clubs have now turned into companies in most of the big clubs have turned into this form and the clubs that have not transformed their global spread is limited like the Bundesliga clubs that are heading to death, and you have to understand that Perez is a billionaire and that he works for the interest of the club and not For his own benefit
I really really understand all the arguments against the super league but I genuinely absolutely don’t give a damn about teams like west ham, burnley, brighton, granada, sociedad, levante, m’gladbach, freiburg, genoa and the likes. And I don’t think the big majority of football will ever give a damn about them. They are small and really unpleasant to watch.
West Ham are higher in the prem than Arsenal and Man U lol
Yea super league was a great concept ,but only if they added a way to get in with regulations and I think if super league had passed and came to happen overtime the leagues would bow and work with the super league to add regulation.the leagues are just scared to miss their best teams and lose money and that's it but in reality this is what football needs you can't have Bayern destorying competition and top teams destorying their leagues.if the leagues overtime with this super league let one of their top team into it then it would work unfortunately it didn't pass and guess the reason?leagues own greed .they knew their own financials would go under
Well those teams believe it or not have more loyal fans than the plastic that supports a super league concept.

I know this is a Soccer channel, but a lot of this sounds very similar to what's happening in college sports lol
I need someone to tell me why will this kill football and i dont want generic explanations like its a poor mans game and stuff like that i need actual explanation
It would have killed competition in football. The justification for the super league would be so that you get higher quality games against the biggest clubs. Yet these clubs are fixed so there is no reward for placing well in the league and other smaller clubs have no incentive to play well. Also there would be no excitement anymore when two big clubs play against each other. It would harm domestic leagues and other leagues that don’t have access to the Super League. It was greed by these large clubs to get out of a financial situation that was caused by themselves. Both FIFA and UEFA are corrupt as anyone but they know one thing and that is competition and accessibility for all. If you play well you deserve it.
Maqwell gave 3 great explanations in these videos and there is plenty other videos which shows what’s wrong with the ESL. If you believed it was a good idea please stop watching football.
@@robbielea1107 i personally watch football for the big games tbh. I never watch the small teams like ever.
