  • It took 2 days for my other video to age so poorly lmao. Anyways here I got on a slight rant about the new European Super League. This is actually something I'm a lot more passionate about than the Swiss Model because of how absolutely ridiculous the concept it. Hope you enjoy!

      The model is not bad apart from no regulation .if you can't go down or out of the league then it's awful. It's a better champions league in my opinion , and I love the idea you can have best clubs from around the world playing against eachother but with regulation and stuff it's pointless

    I would rather that we get relegated than being part of something this disgusting. I love it when small teams and underdogs perform well in big competitions (Villareal this UCL for example). This is just a prime example of greed ruining the game. GGMU and out with the Glazers.

    The "more than 4 billion fans" quote just shows how detached from reality Perez is! The Earth has a population of just below 8 billion! Does it seem remotely plausible that more than HALF that number will ever become football fans? And of those who are, huge numbers would not be remotely interested in watching the shitty little private members clubs, of the ESL!

    • @Geographyandhistory2024
      @Geographyandhistory2024 Před rokem

      I searched it up and it said 3,5 billion people consider themselves football fans
      This has nothing to do with the super League but i wanted to make this comment because you seem to doubt the size of football

    • @andywhitehead3374
      @andywhitehead3374 Před rokem +4

      @@Geographyandhistory2024 I find those figures to be somewhat dodgy and implausible though, given the 7.9 billion population of the entire Earth. I come from Scotland, where football is more popular per head of population, than in just about every other country, despite its relatively weak league and the Scottish international team not exactly being that hot. Frequently more people per head of population attend top flight football matches in Scotland, than in any other European country. In 2018, for instance, the average for the Scottish Premiership was 15,973, compared to 24,738 for Serie A. Considering Italy has a population of 58.9 million (compared to the 5.5 million of Scotland!), if football was as popular there, then in proportion to the Scottish Premiership, Serie A should be averaging over 160,000. (I know that's not quite comparing like with like, as the Scottish Premiership has 12 clubs and Serie A, 20, however even taking that into account, it appears that Scotland has many more dedicated fans per head of population, than the likes of Italy!)
      The point I have rather long windedly being trying to make? Around 50% of the males I know have no, or at best just a casual interest in football, despite its' huge popularity in Scotland, and I would say that only around 5% or less of the women I know are football fans. I also have friends and have worked beside several people from the US, and none of them was/is a football fan (not of "real" football anyway!) I worked beside several people from India also, who were all far more into cricket than football. (Hardly a scientific study, I am first to admit!)
      Overall though, of the people I know from out with the UK originally, some are football fans, but I cannot think of one of them who supports one of the ESL clubs. Of the English fans I know, only around 30% support ESL clubs and EVERY football fan I know, no matter who they support who has expressed an opinion on the subject to me anyway, hates the whole idea of the Super League and has said they will boycott it if it ever happens!
      Basically, even if there are 3.5 billion football fans (which I very much doubt, certainly not 3.5 billion dedicated ones!), that would still make the 4 billion claims Perez made nonsense, as 3.5 billion is less than 4 billion and, as I've said, huge numbers of people will not watch the European Shit League, if it ever happens. In fact here's a link about the viewership of the Champions League Final in 2021. Yes, it's true that it just had clubs from one country playing in it, but even in the UK it was estimated that 8.7 million, out of a population of 68 million watched the Final. I certainly did not, as I do not support either club who was in the Final and I can assure you that I will NEVER watch the ESL, if it ever happens! However, if there is such a massive proportion of football fans, then why did such a small proportion of the population of the country of the two clubs playing in basically the biggest club match in World football watch the Final?

      Absolutely correct! And of the 7.9 billion people who do live upon Earth (and I am fully aware that most ESL supporters do indeed seem to reside on another planet, and are totally detached from reality!), some of those are babies and toddlers, some of those are from high population countries where the vast majority are not football fans, such as India and the USA and some are from tribal societies, where the basic struggle for survival is far more important than watching a group of spoilt brat, millionaire, prima donnas, prancing about on a patch of grass, when they themselves may be struggling to feed themselves!

So greed doesn't want greed .we know super league would breed the best competition ever and be the top league every year.its sad it didn't go threw because of premier leagues and other leagues own greed.tbh in my opinion the premier leagues and other leagues are acting like tyrants .and hopefully it will happen again in some years because once it does in few years later the leagues will be forced to work with the super league and allow regulations or their top teams to enter the super league

    You must understand that the Super League contains the clubs that intend to increase profit and spread around the world, so you cannot blame them because you are not in the Bundesliga, which is owned by the public. And you have to know the Super League is legal and that the clubs have now turned into companies in most of the big clubs have turned into this form and the clubs that have not transformed their global spread is limited like the Bundesliga clubs that are heading to death, and you have to understand that Perez is a billionaire and that he works for the interest of the club and not For his own benefit

    I really really understand all the arguments against the super league but I genuinely absolutely don’t give a damn about teams like west ham, burnley, brighton, granada, sociedad, levante, m’gladbach, freiburg, genoa and the likes. And I don’t think the big majority of football will ever give a damn about them. They are small and really unpleasant to watch.

      Yea super league was a great concept ,but only if they added a way to get in with regulations and I think if super league had passed and came to happen overtime the leagues would bow and work with the super league to add regulation.the leagues are just scared to miss their best teams and lose money and that's it but in reality this is what football needs you can't have Bayern destorying competition and top teams destorying their leagues.if the leagues overtime with this super league let one of their top team into it then it would work unfortunately it didn't pass and guess the reason?leagues own greed .they knew their own financials would go under

    • @robbielea1107
      @robbielea1107 Před rokem

      It would have killed competition in football. The justification for the super league would be so that you get higher quality games against the biggest clubs. Yet these clubs are fixed so there is no reward for placing well in the league and other smaller clubs have no incentive to play well. Also there would be no excitement anymore when two big clubs play against each other. It would harm domestic leagues and other leagues that don’t have access to the Super League. It was greed by these large clubs to get out of a financial situation that was caused by themselves. Both FIFA and UEFA are corrupt as anyone but they know one thing and that is competition and accessibility for all. If you play well you deserve it.
