I was really thinking hard about getting this piece of gear over the Pro MPA II & the Pro VLA II. Every review I've seen on the Voice channel makes it out to be only for voiceovers, but all the features that come with it are undeniable. Glad to see someone actually use it for studio recordings

I purchased the Pro Channel II a month ago and returned it after two weeks because there was some issue with the GR LEDs. But the main reason I returned it is because it did not make any difference compared to my interface clean preamps. This is not something new, with today's gear and plugins it really does not matter what you use, but there is something good in having an outboard gear, it bakes the sound so you do not think a lot after that, while with the plugins you can do whatever you want and more options usually makes more trouble. I liked the saturation more with the low voltage setting, but really it was so subtle that it did not matter that much, as I said just one plugin can do the same or simply do it better.
I’ve been using the voice channel for a bit in my mobile recording. It’s been so fire. The expander/gate saves so many mobile sessions with poorly treated spaces.
@@BojanBojovic Well I'll tell you one thing it does for me...I use it tracking to take sharp peaks away from electric guitar or guitar in general. Same with bass. In that regard all it does is just dull sharp peaks. Which is good. I've tried it on mixbus etc but it doesn't have a sound that I can hear. You could crank outrageous settings and get a sound. But as a typical mixbus comp...probably slow attack and quick release shaving off hardly a db...what's to hear? Nothing really. Although people use the SSL comp styles in situations and apparently they sound...like something. I dunno. The Dak to me is just a workmanlike device that I use to smooth peaks when tracking. It does a good job.

Nice! I’m curious what plugins you use, I’m sticking with universal audio and some slate plugins.
@@415EastRecording Not that important, no big difference in plugins as well. I am using Analog Obsession mostly, but also Waves, UA, and FabFilter.
