From mysterious problems that may appear during the show or change-over, band staff asking for different things that were not in their rider, the pressure of obeying the schedule and the oportunity to meet and work with artists that would otherwise be inaccessible.

    Not questioning the setup and admire the attention to detail but just wondering why you dont just keep drums patched and basic backline less having to reconfigure? Just setup for the largest act and then all the other acts will fall within the parameters. keep a few spares on each stage box for the odd ones and those are the only ones that need changes.

    • @imdomtrotta
      @imdomtrotta  Před 10 měsíci +1

      This a good question and good observation for a few reason.
      1- we had a few engineer having their show file so I needed to patch 1 to 1 to their show file so not following the festival patch.
      2- a few band where using our patch and they had their own control so I need to follow their patch.
      3- position on stage of a few bands was different so sometimes I had drum downstage and was easier to patch them on the Blue veam.
      I get what you say and I did that for the festival before with drums mainly as they all stayed in the 12 channel.
      Thanks for watching

      @@imdomtrotta could you just load the show and do a digital patch on the console most consoles allow io to be safe then just patch channels. Just thinking it would be about the same time if not less depending. You have a very organized system just looks like a lot of extra moving parts and potential failure points especially with the drops being disconnected and reconnected for each set just thinking about the pins in the connectors. This makes a lot more sense for an analog setup but you are all running digico. I will shut up now but great work and admire everything. Typical as always that a band would arrive with nothing they need to run their own stuff and changing up input lists upon arrival handled very well with great calm! Bravo

    I feel like that stage isn’t big enough to warrant a patch tech... I handle a stage that size with my mon eng, and we’re change over on a average of 7 minutes... patching and un patching 12 ch multis instead of doing a festival patch? Weird but okay?

    • @imdomtrotta
      @imdomtrotta  Před 7 měsíci +1

      thanks for watching.
      we have around 8 bands playing in a day and most of them have around from 20 to 38 channels.
      we have production coming in and we need to deal with sometimes patching them on our splitter.
      Sometimes they use our splitter but they have their show file so you need to patch it to their show file.
      A proper festival crew is always:
      FOH eng.
      System Tech eng.
      Mon eng.
      Patch tech
      Lighting eng.
      Stage Manager.
      BUT yes you could do a festival with just FOH and MON engineer but if something happens during a show you will need to leave your MON position and deal with the problem, or imagine the FOH guy leaves FOH every time and comes on stage, normally FOH is 35/40mt from the stage, imagine run when there is like 6000 people.
      I think it all depends from situation to situation.
