    13:45 I do believe that was a hit and run right there! What a collision! That hermit crab must have been clocking in at what, 11, 12 inches an hour? It's not surprising, considering his age; it's easy to see that he's young, he hasn't been able to stay still long enough to attract his life-partner anemone. They're so irresponsible at that age! Did anyone get his plate number? He was just a little too fast for me.

      A+ for you. Some species have eyes but they’re more vestigial relics of when they needed them to survive. Many deep sea animals retain eyes but they’re effectively blind. They have other powerful sensory organs to to detect prey and predators. Evolution is amazing.

    • @pimpozza
      @pimpozza Před 5 měsíci

      Unfortunately, the rippling effects of human pollution (like plastic and oil spills) have reached even the deepest parts of the ocean.. 😥

    • @samanthasurovec4639
      @samanthasurovec4639 Před 5 měsíci

      The ocean is full of life that rids itself of waste regularly and eventually dies. The water is full of waste and decaying animal and plant matter that will eventually settle onto the bottom of the deepest depths where there's nowhere else to go. Decaying matter looks like dirt, rot, and excrement. So yes, the ocean is very "dirty".

    • @JustinLHopkins
      @JustinLHopkins Před 4 měsíci

      No, the deep sea is not filthy. In fact, it’s oxygen and nutrient rich. Marine snow from the shallows builds up on the ocean floor and it can appear dirty. The deep sea is one of the last pristine environments.

    • @JustinLHopkins
      @JustinLHopkins Před 4 měsíci

      @@pimpozzaThat’s true, but the world ocean is immense and the hadal zone is still pristine with nutrient rich water and oxygen. I wouldn’t describe the depths as dirty at all.

    • @pimpozza
      @pimpozza Před 4 měsíci

      @@JustinLHopkins Research has shown how microplastics, chemicals and radioactive products are prevalent in the hadal trenches, Justin.. Humanity’s footprint sadly extends to the deepest places on earth, affecting the balance of oxygen in the oceans and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere..
      I remember one study explaining how PCB levels in the amphipods tested from the Mariana Trench were *50 times greater* than in crabs from the Liaohe River, one of the most polluted waterways in China! 😒
