    Spent the weekend up at Mosport with my 2023 base GR86 I purchased new here in Buffalo last year. Such a great product for Toyota and Subaru to offer to the community and I’m grateful to have voted with my dollars for well-balanced, affordable sports cars.

    I own it and love it. Only complaint I have is the limited is at 7200 rpm instead of 7500 rpm where the red line is on the dials. Weird. But still great.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It’s already out of steam at 7200, no need for a higher redline.

    What are your thoughts... a new GR86 for $33k or a used RX8 for $15k? The car will be tracked 4 days per year. I'm aware the RX8 will likely need apex seal/engine replacement eventually.

    Love mine overall but I agree on the exhaust. To loud on the Highway for my taste. Tough to take a call going 80mph. Hopefully you had the ASC turned off.

    I have previously owned a Hakone 86 and a BRZ tS; both cars were soul less and quite disappointing TBQH. Build quality is on the cheaper side, but it's not a pricey car. The car still needs a lot more torque.

    Given that this car isn't designed for heavy G's. My 16' RPF1 (weights 13lb) would be a nice improvement.

    20 units for 3400 dollars extra? um collector item. buy it and limit the miles and sell it for premium price in 2 years?

    • @stms4411
      @stms4411 Před rokem +1

      Prob not worth the time/effort. What do you think the premium would be? 5k tops. If you had the 36k you’d make more than that investing in the broader market indices for two years time.

      @BrianMakse  Před rokem +1

      nah...

    • @stms4411
      @stms4411 Před rokem +1

      Get it and drive it. I’ve got a 2022 black one and it has an axle back that I installed for $400. I doubt the average enthusiast could tell any seat of the pants difference with the forged wheels so I think the extra $3k is a waste…..but even at a premium this is a fantastic value for a sports car.

    The 2024 GR86 limited edition Trueno is more interesting and the resale value should be much better with only 860 cars made in the world... 50 thunder GR86 Trueno will be made for Canada !

    • @MikeAngel06
      @MikeAngel06 Před rokem +1

      There are only 20 of the Anniversary edition in Canada though, so it should have better resale value because of rarity.

    Hoping Subaru puts out a more compelling "special edition" for 2024. I like this orange but the exhaust is eh and the wheels don't look great (regardless of being forged). Great review as usual.
