    Gavin spent seven years as an active duty PJ in Las Vegas, before spending some time at the AFSPECWAR Assessment and Selection course. Gavin currently works as a Reserve PJ in Cocoa Beach. He talks about all those topics, plus a lot more, this week in the team room!

    I think it would be valuable to hear his story of being ‘blown up’ so that people interested in these careers can hear the potential realities of what can happen and not just the cool fun stuff.
    Appreciate the podcast as always

    If possible, get some more SR guys on the podcast. As it's a "newer" career field, there is hardly any information out there.

    • @nathanrigger15
      @nathanrigger15 Před 4 lety +6

      I second that! I'm super interested in SR but there are maybe a couple of paragraphs worth of data out there on the web and this podcast is the only place I've seen literally anything from someone with first hand experience. They've given us more data here than you can collectively get across the internet.

    • @kirdnehh
      @kirdnehh Před 4 lety +4

      I second this though I’m not sure there’s much they can publicly say about SR rn, partly because of the clandestine nature of their missions and also because it’s still fairly new so they’re likely still figuring a lot of it out as well.

      I'll add my name to the pile that wants to know more about SR. Without giving too much information is it basically sneaking around in the woods or urban environment with a very small team collecting information? Basically an expansion of (what little I know about) SOWT?
      Also, what is the difference between Air Commandos and Special Tactics? Or are they the same thing?

    I’ve grown up in satélite beach, right down from Patrick AFB. If Tsgt Fisher is still in town (or any PJs you guys know) I would be honored to go for a surf and grab a coffee with them. I’d really like to just sit down and talk.
    God bless

    Thoughts i had after a long day running, and swimming. Para rescue men have to be in the kind of shape that would equal to, two very physically fit men. The job is rescuing often times big men from water, mountains, battlefield. So Next time you yes You (and me) are thinking i can't train harder or a dangerous one "thats a good place, I'll train harder tomorrow or next time," You gotta remember you're training for two people. Sometimes more right Ones Ready?
    I'm two hours away from my home camping in Eastern Oregon, just because theres a reservoir i can swim train in and the pool is closed, its great! Super Lonely but great! I Was even shouted out by How to be a pj on instagram today, a video from my story, Man it felt great i felt camaraderie and pride I felt America! Don't settle my friends, i think you should be like me and obsess over becoming a PJ. .training i have to force myself to not "over train". 💚

My mom wouldn't let me enlist at 17 without seeing another recruiter, so the Marine recruiter took me across the hall to the Air Force recruiter. Chair Force thinks they are Rangers

    • @goonhoona8186
      @goonhoona8186 Před 3 lety +3

      Rangers call the "chair force" when they want specialist operators to save their asses when the shit pops off and one of their brothers gets mangled on the battlefield (PJs) or when they want to drop bombs on the enemy without getting blown up themselves (CCT and TACP). You can talk all the shit you want but the fact of the matter is that if the army could handle everything, AFSOC wouldnt exist, and the army wouldn't be keeping them in business now. AFSOC attaches to DEVGRU, CAG, SF, Rangers etc. If the airforce guys are such pussies, why do the Rangers work with and respect them? They also have a tier 1 unit at Hurlbert Field in Florida.
      Which SOF pipeline did you make it through? Call of Duty doesn't count. Got any silver stars?
