- I thought I had exclusive insider info on the upcoming BLANCPAIN x SWATCH collab, launching tomorrow 09.09.2023, but images released this week have proven that the information I'd been given by a number of respected watch industry sources was WRONG!!!

Everybody freaking out over these and i'm here thinking that they look like toys lol
Yes a real, workjng kind of toys:)
@@Mustafa-ultra23 toys = trash
OMG you discovered that fire burns 😱😱😱.
Have you ever seen a Swatch before??
It’s an overpriced disposable non-serviceable plastic watch.
@@remus2001and?
Dont worry about the inacurracy of the leak, totally understandable. Want you to know that we are grateful for your service to the watch community.
I get the feeling cheating vibe but false info is still false info
Thanks my friend that means a lot 🙏
@@Escapement24there’s a reason they’re called leaks, they are always meant to be taken with a grain of salt. Happens often in other industries like tech, automotive, etc. You did mentioned clearly that the leak was based on a prototype if i reckon correctly. Depending on which period of the development stage they are from, plenty of them are bound to see alterations before launch time.
I'm drawn to the white one, Antarctic. I think these are terrific. They actually look better to me than the moonswatch.
Only interested in the blue one.
Any ideas on lug width?
Not sure if they can replicate the success of the Moonswatch. But they might be able to raise the profile of their neglected Blancpain brand.
Thats the win
The matter really has no importance, no need to apologize. What we need now is a proper 70th anniversary Blancpain Fifty Fathoms
Thanks buddy 🙏 I agree that it's not exactly a matter of life and death, but as the channel grows I'm starting to feel a sense of responsibility to people who give their time to watch my videos. I want to make sure my content rewards your support.
Chill dude, speculating and getting it wrong is part of the fun!
I am dismayed by this release. It will allow general riff raff & gutter snipes to get their hands on something way above their level......outrageous!!
Don’t bear yourself up your pre-launch video, I enjoyed it regardless of accuracy.
I like this watch and I’ll eventually buy either the blue or white version.
IMO this will benefit Blancpain and is marketing genius. I agree the buying experience is going to suck, but this will be a fun watch just as the MoonSwatch is.
How long till bits of this watch are floating around the ocean? Maybe they can make special Tide straps made exclusively of plastic watch parts. 😅
I would have picked one up if they were available online but I don't live near a swatch shop so they have missed a sale.
Mr Hayek said in an interview that the originally thought about Blancpain and then settled on Omega. After now probably having exhausted the Moonswatch options they must have thought, hey this was a great money maker, let’s now also do the Blancpain. - I only thought of the Fifty Fathoms for this collab as that is the only model I know as someone who doesn’t know much about Blancpain. It’s probably also the most well known model.
Do you know anything about pricing?
No need to apologize. Having heard about your sources, I'm sure you were given accurate information available to them at the time. Firstly, it's quite possible Swatch was running the Omega and Blancpain projects simultaneously; the Moonwatch is undoubtedy the far better known watch, and before the release of Moonswatch, when they had no idea how successful or unsucessful the collaboration would be, they may have just opted to use Blancpain to "test the waters" first. They didn't do this obviously. Secondly, in October last year, which was just after the release of Moonswatch, the Swatch group probably didn't yet know just how successful the Moonswatch would become, and so again, the Bathyscape was mocked up just to get some initial customer feedback only. Of course then having seen how mad the world went for the Moonswatch in the months after release (and how much money they made), Swatch immediately changed directions and adopted this collobration to their best IPs - in this case the 50 fathoms. I wouldn't be suprised at all if they planning a Breguet collab in the background right now. Who knows, maybe even Harry Winston?
The yellow box was on display on Thu in Geneva.. also at the Blancpain store.
I don't think this is the right step for the brand. The FF is a brand deserving of respect and a degree of reverence. It represents one of the first watches in a category that has gone on to dominate the watch market. It is a high end piece that is supposed to represent excellence in watch making. How does a cheap piece of plastic uphold any of that? I know it is an entirely different watch, but it is going to be linked forever to the true Blancpain FF. How does some of that not rub off (though if the MoonSwatch is any indication, it might literally rub off)? I was planning to buy a FF at the end of this year, but now I'm seriously rethinking that. To me the watch collecting hobby represents a celebration of art and a pursuit of high standards. In all honesty, I might hesitate to buy from any of the Swatch-owned brands in future.
Don’t know about you but this release makes me even more proud of my own Fifty Fathoms. 🤷🏼♂️
Very honest approach to your good intended video that had the intention to show us what swatch group was cooking behind closed doors...no worries...
Thanks man, appreciate the kinds words and support 🙏
I do believe you did actually give quite good insight. You got the movement, the colourful outlook, not so bad.
Everyone on YT would want a SwatchScoop, you wanted to be the first, good on you, brave move to actually try a render with the info you had. Even people like IDGuy had a go and missed the mark, still brave though to have a go. Hindsight is great and the bloody obvious can easily be overlooked when we are all trying to be so precise with prediction to gain the cred as the 'scooper'. On this vid, your did hit the main nail on the head with the price versus what you get. This won't stop people getting them though. There are hundreds of thousands of people in the watch hobby spending this kind of money weekly on the sub £500 watches, so it will be no different on this one. I guess it will sell out, there will be shortages and thousands of hours of CZcamsrs taking it apart for clicks. Again Swatch have done the short term marketing for huge impact on one years sales but on the other hand , what effect on the credibility of the reputation of the original. As always a double edged sword, Me ? I'd take the exposure and sales now and worry about fallout later. I say well done Swatch and good luck to the people buying in the fashion watch market. Nice video E24.
Thanks so much man, really appreciate the support 🙏
They are what they are, I like them.
I love what swatch are doing, but these look a bit like a kids watch. They also look very delicate.
You played down my expectations making the actual item seem way nicer.. so.. thanks!
Any watch that can not be worked on isn't worth to much IMO.........$50. and under would be more reasonable.
Breguet is definitely not safe for collaboration and I can’t wait for it 😂 I love what Swatch is doing, minus the difficulty of obtaining them.
I can only imagine the cries of "how dare they?" 😂
Naaaa, Marc Hayek said all iconic watches and brands are on the table, except Breguet.
Si vuelven a tener la pesima distribuicion del producto volvera a pasar lo de moon swacht . no tardara 15 dias y las replicas saldrán hasta mejoradas
What about the polar pro, is that still in the works😂
Haha yeah, funny! That may have been a case of being told there was a new white dial GMT movement model coming and me getting a bit too over excited assuming it would be a Pro 🙈
I think all the other Tudor releases I talked about in my pre-W&W video were accurate though, so I wasn't too far wrong on that occasion 😂
Your first video about the Swatch X Blancpain was not totally accurate, but however it was quite interesting.
I think there is already a lot of communication from Swatch as yesterday I have seen 5 pages of advertising in The New York Times.
I already want to buy 3 of them: Atlantic, Indian, and Antarctic. I think they look great, and they are water resistant.
Nice video and I like your channel. If I could give some constructive feedback from a viewers perspective, try not to look away from the camera so much
Good on you! I’m genuinely impressed.
Thanks man, kind of you to say so 🙏 Just think it's important to always do the best you can
I think I preferred your version 😂
Your still a gent with awesome content💪👊. Anyone who believes
everything that their presented with on CZcams….Well…. Huh….Yeah….I can’t seem to find a polite way to put it.
Thanks bud 👍😂
Knowing this specific movement that is a lot of money for something that will stop functioning properly within a year or two and not be serviceable. Oh and if anyone says they have grips for a case opener, okay but now find a watchmaker who will be willing to service this because they won't. There is already a youtube video of a guy trying to get sistem51 serviced only to get laughed at by that watchmaker.
Movement is replaceable and has two year warranty. I have Sistem51 working for way more than 2 years. Some have them working since release in 2013…..They are pretty robust.
That movement costs probably not much more than a quartz movement to produce at scale. So I doubt repairing would make any sense.
@@koolpep And yet I've seen some sistem51's including the irony line where they stopped working after 2, 3 years where they were worn maybe once a month where the crown locks up. After 2 years if it dies, the AD will laugh at you then tell you to buy a new one. No thanks, I'll buy an actual normal dive watch at this price that can actually be serviced.
@@Microwave414 of course, everyone how they like. 👍🏻👍🏻
I love them, I live in London and they have been on display since Thursday, I will get at least two
Man, I have mixed feelings about them but if I could get to London tomorrow I'd be queuing up! Can't wait to get one for the channel as well as to satisfy my own curiosity, but fear it may take a while!
@@Escapement24 oh no, I will not even bother tomorrow. But I will swing by on Monday out of curiosity and who knows maybe there will be zero interest and will be able to get one 🤞
@nikr1d3r32 good strategy, keeping fingers crossed for you 🤞
I hear an English Channel version is in the works. It will be brown with a Turd on the dial
Yes I work for Rolex, yes im watching this while in line for this Swatch as we speak
Good for you buddy! If I could've got to London this weekend I'm sure I'd have been queuing up too. Good luck and let me know if you get one🤞
That’s what happens when you try and rush to be the first, it ends up being fake news…😮
Man, it’s nice of you to put out this video apologizing, but you don’t owe anyone an apology. The whole thing was based on speculation (even if it was on good authority. Nothing is official until swatch said it) anyways and it made for good content. Keep up the good content brother!
Thanks buddy, appreciate the kind words 🙏 it means a lot!
No apology necessary. You took a punt and got it wrong. Sh.. happens.
If I were Swatch I’d be telling the industry insiders nonsense too.
No one with any sense will have taken any notice of your assumptions, they will have waited for the official release.
You are forgiven 😂. Have a beer 😈 🍻
Thanks man....I'm going to be having several tonight 😂
For sure no need for an apology…still subbed
I still don’t understand why you are apologizing. If anything you helped the hype train. Keep up the content.
That’s the thing with tip-offs; sometimes they’re spot on, other times they’re not. Not worth beating yourself up over it. After all they’re rather large, certainly thick, all-plastic, unserviceable, disposable, expensive-for-what-they-are, Happy Meal watches available only from McDonalds, er sorry, Swatch ‘boutiques’. Ironic how Swatch makes a thing about recycled fishing nets for the nato-style strap that obscures the display caseback 🤦🏻♂️ when the watch is only heading for landfill when the Sistem 51 movement stops working.
It’s all about getting footfall in otherwise deserted Swatch shops and making alot of profit given the colossal margins on these watches. Blancpain’s brand name awareness will increase no doubt, but given the price of its ‘real’ watches, translating that into actual increased Blancpain sales has got to be a huge stretch.
Not sure I’m sold on any of the designs. Those with the vomit-inducing date window on the tilt at 4.30 are defo not for me, the other two look insipid. Besides I’m not travelling hundreds of miles on the off chance I might be able to get one.
Pass.
And I believed ya! You were closer on the first guess, scarily so. Glad tbf, it looks kinda cool, and I hate the Batheboring, pronounced "bathy-scaff" btw You might even have fallen victim to deliberate mis information, ?
Bet they could do a Type 20 Breguet btw....😂
Part of me wondered if Swatch Group showed that BathySwatch proto to throw the media people off the scent. A lot of the watch media guys clearly thought that the design would be based on this - even Revolution Watch put out their own mockups on Monday that were based on the Bathyscaphe 🤔
@@Escapement24 Yeah, those scamps! Waddya thinka Type 20 Swatch?
I do love the NO RADIATION ☢️ model 😅
I love the concept...don't much care for the execution
Understandable Simon, well the sheep will be queuing up for them,I won't be there, for $400 I would rather have the new Citizen Tsuyosa and still have change.
The Tsuyosa is a decent watch for the price and definitely a compelling alternative that adds a bit of fun to any collection 👍
Save your money and buy a proper ISO rated Seiko dive watch. It will look better and last longer.
It's not a "1 piece strap."
We never know ‘til we know.
£340 for lets be honest a fun watch, I am not sure this time round. Also who are these people paying double or even more RRP price, obviously got money to burn.
I don't care about the watch. And am annoyed this topic is going to be in my feed for months. Scalpers are already erect
The white one 🎉
I am very disappointed with this bad idea 😢
Dude its ok, dont worry about it. Have you ever seen phone or car rendering leaks OMG. Its all part of the fun! Check out the Bulova Mil Ships, the history is on par with the 50 fathoms, its a real watch and I find the story behind it tied into the Tornek Rayville much more interesting. This watch is not for me anyways.
Thanks buddy 🙏 I'll check out the Bulova! I've got a lot of respect for the brand and love the story behind the Lunar Pilot, so I'll check out the Mil Ships 👍
It's not ok, he should be forced to wear an Invicta for a year to atone for the error!!
@Andrew.W75 jeez, harsh!!! 🤣
Hahaha!
It’s definitely gonna be breguet mate 😂
Nice try but I'm not going to make a video announcing that based on your comment 😂😂😂
I genuinely do not understand the hype with these collaborations. At least this one isn't quartz, I suppose. I'll still be giving this a hard pass in favour of a less gimmicky watch.
I think you were close enough
Thanks buddy! 🤘
Way too overpriced, only the blue one is nice, they are surely going to add a black one maybe next year, but after all a friend of mine who owns the real one is going to buy it, for me it’s better collecting orient diver watches
I thought you did a good job 👍
Thanks buddy that's kind of you to say so 🙏
Speculation and hopefulness yes, but saying you know stuff 100% No.
Nah don’t like them . I’m waiting for the Swatch and Richard Mille drop
The more you explain, the worse it sounds.
It basically means it’s not worth talking about anything until it’s released.
sooner ore later they gone do all Glashütte Original en Breguet, why because it's about 2 things one it creates so much revenue 2nd the marketing cost are low but the brand expose is use. So sorry but you just give some personal feeling thats based on nothing. En whit the release of the Moon-watch even the sales on the Speedmaster increased a lot. Same will do whit the Blancpain only problem the real Fifty Fathoms is almost impossible to get.
As somebody sayed before
The genius behind all the hype is making people think they get a cheap Omega, Blancpain, while actually they get a very expensive swatch.
En the trick works again just passed the Swatch store a huge huge line of people.
If you're going to corrupt the word 'advertisement', make it 'ad' not advert; one says 'substitute', or 'sub' not 'substit' FFS! Other than that, don't beat yourself up - you were, as always, trying to do us a service!
I like your rendering of the system 51 Fathoms ,with the integrated orange strap, better than the real thing.
Thanks man, maybe I should send it to Swatch Group? 😂
Dont worry.its just plastic crap anyway
Hey Simon , I don’t see your initial episode as a fail of any kind. In fact it may be more interesting as it shone some light on the actual development process and idea changes that were finally implemented. Keep up the good work man 👊🏻
Thanks so much buddy, a lot of ppl in the comments on the last video felt let down when pictures of the actual releases emerged and I think some felt I'd just made it all up for views 🤷
@@Escapement24 or as Carlos Sainz famously said over team radio last year at Silverstone : “ stop inventing!” 😂
😂
Robert from Fratello and I got into an argument after I post my opinion on his site regarding this trashy piece of plastic. The Swatch Group has disgraced the Omega Moonwatch with that piece of plastic trash they made available a few months ago, and did the same with Blancpain. That is not a watch, that is a total disgraceful trash and 5 years from now it will be in the trash can due to the fact that the movement can't be serviced and thats where it belongs. I wish the Swatch Group goes bankrupt and disappear from the face of the earth. I will never, ever again support the Swatch Group no matter what. I was about to buy the Moonwatch but changed my mind because of that trashy piece of plastic Swatch moonwatch. That thing is made out of plastic, the movement is not serviceable and in less than 5 years it will stop working. The movement 51 is a piece of trash, it has no value due to the fact that you can't fix the movement, and pay $400.00 plus tax for that trash is crazy, it is like throwing money in the garbage.
People like this have no ‘contacts’ just web surfing from their front room, and copying others speculation.
I've got a lot of contacts, mainly in the watch media but also some at manufacturers - if you go back through some of my previous videos you'll hear from a few of them
Too much yabba yabba 🙄yabba
Nothing to lose sleep over. Everyone on YT is also guessing. Hype is what feeds the industry and watch collecting wouldn't be the same without it. Besides, Swatch Group would have leaked that prototype design as a decoy on purpose to generate hype. All these watch companies must enjoy playing these chess moves, then sit back watching the rumours and chaos on YT.
I prefer the Antarctic edition. I think the neutral colour will be more versatile and great in the summer against a tanned wrist by the beach or pool.
Just bought a Blancpain. My new daily driver. Happy to see this, so it makes it possible for many to get a kinda Blancpain, without spending 20k € or $.
I kinda like them; especially the Antarctic & the Pacific.
Talking pricing: how much is the Omega Speedmaster Professional at retail, about $7-8000? And the fifty fathoms at retail, about $10-12,000? So, similar price difference between the MoonSwatch & the Scuba Fifty Fathoms. Kinda makes sense, considering the quarts vs the mechanic, see through caseback & water resistance increase. Also the reclaimed NATO will help a lot.
BTW there are 2 Swatch stores here in Amsterdam. Where one of them did the MoonSwatch in the high street of town, now the other one is doing the Blancpain collaboration in the upmarket street of town.
Are you planning to try pick one up? Would be interested to hear from people who are at the stores on launch day to know whether it will come anywhere close to the Moonswatch madness
@@Escapement24 Not on launch day, in few weeks, perhaps.
I need to get up close & personal with watches to pull the trigger.
E.g. a few years back I was really close to getting a snowflake 40mm automatic, but looked too big on my wrist.
A few months ago, I looked at the Seiko Snoopy diver, but that one was too small, especially on that bulky double pass NATO.
Very expensive crap.
Look like little kids watches
Yet another over-priced plastic watch to ignore. 😂
You got it wrong. Move along
So your industry insiders fed you some BS. 😂😅
Yet another jump on the band wagon click bait video!!
So it’s ok for Rolecks to artificially restrict supply, but it’s not fine when swatch does it.
I probably didn't explain myself all that well - no, I don't like that Rolex does it either...but I guess it's behaviour we've become more used to with premium/luxury brands
Presenter should have done this video wearing a dunce cap. And he's still saying "I think...I think...I think". At this point, credibility=0, so those two words should only precede an opinion, not a prediction or a supposition of something that happened in the past.
💩💩💩
Recommend you focus on rebuilding whatever credibility you may have had at one time and worry less about the clout.
Unsubscribed.
Theyre toys. I love them 😂 But i l9ve my moon swatch so 🤷♂️
I think they're fun and this hobby certainly needs a bit fun injected in to it from time to time....but they're maybe a little overpriced for what they are and should be more easily available IMO
