We always got those emails from MS I think it was about how many meetings we had, focus time etc. However, this was not reflecting the truth of the work actually being conducted, doing research and writing documents etc. I never cared about those messages. I was then terminated from this role. HR is often not what HR should be unfortunately. In another company I always saw screenshots being taken which was so odd. I would not recommend working for any of such company anyways that does not have proper communication and transparency with their staff members.

Yeah, the Microsoft emails outlining activity is interesting because it says they're not tracking your activity, but clearly have enough information to tell how your time is being spent. Brings up some privacy concerns in my mind.

My company uses WorkTime and it works great! It is a very delicate and effective tool (no screenshots or video recording).

Yes, that happens to me all the time... all the sudden I'm seeing ads of things I mentioned once to a friend

I tried testing this, and it wasn't just audio it was my camera picking up stuff and giving ads for it. Try randomly saying something like SCOOBA DIVING throughout the day. Or look in a magazine for something you'd never buy like a cat tower if you don't own a cat and point your camera at it throughout the day. Facebook seems to be the worse at giving me ads for stuff like that. Now that I've typed those out here I'll definitly get ads for them though haha.

I recently read an employee manual that clearly states that "There is no privacy at XYZ, Inc." Since, it's right up front, I have no problem with it. I can totally respect that.

I agree. I appreciate the transparency. As much as I want my privacy at work, i respect when a company is upfront about the data they're collecting.

My employer did something to my personal laptop yesterday but I was unable to figure out what exactly he did to my laptop.
How can I find out what did he do?
I asked him but he didn't reply

Look into the cloud technology Iass, Pass, Saas and see if they involve using your own laptop’s hardware in any way. Fucking bastards with their fucking technology. Animals who can press buttons.

Is this still possible if I went to the Apple Store and picked up a brand new laptop my company purchased online for me when I started this new position? I know that google can track what sites I’ve been to but let’s say would the company be able to access any more information on my computer and track my activity on other sites or apps I am on besides the google suite or the company platforms we use, since it’s a computer that my company has never touched?

From what I found when I was researching for this video is that Macs are less “IT” friendly for companies because they’re usually more secure and don’t allow for easy tracking. The only way that I found that would allow tracking on Mac is through a specific downloaded software like Microsoft Teams. So while they won’t be able to track keyboard clicks, etc, they might be able to still see reports through collaboration tools… if that makes sense
