It's my birthday, so let’s take it literally and dress up like a cake!
We're diving into the magical world of haute couture meets humor with a dress shaped like a birthday cake.
Hold on to your frosting, because this isn't your typical sewing project. We're getting inspired by none other than the genius Moschino, my favorite designer.
But here's the twist - instead of traditional sewing materials, we're hitting the hardware store for some seriously unusual supplies. Neoprene, expanding foam, and even silicone caulking are just a few of the surprises we have up our sleeves. It's haute couture meets hardware store extravaganza!
Why do things the ordinary way when we can add some humor and adventure to our fashion journey? This project is all about embracing creativity, cringe and stepping outside of the fashion box - literally!
So, whether you're a seasoned seamstress or just a fashion enthusiast ready for some fun, this video is perfect for anyone looking to add a touch of humor to their wardrobe, cause it’s not going to be very practical.
We're also whipping up some matching cake-inspired accessories that'll have you ready to rock any birthday bash in style.

Full on baroque court dress but with the skirt part as cake layers!! 😁 Love it, am SO tempted to attempt that myself, if only I was an attendee at costume parties I 💯 would! Perhaps even velcro on some of those little battery-actuated electric tealight candles...?
The amount of bounce in the skirt looked like it would be super-fun to achieve with multiple tiers, too! A bit like a human Slinky... 😂

Actually, in France-French we say "Bon anniversaire" :) We say "Bonne fête" to someone when it's their "name day" (If your name is Patrick, we'll wish you "Bonne fête" on Saint Patrick's day for example)

@@lear.865 thanks for that info, I've heard it both ways here in Ontario, Canada... In school I learned Parisian French but then if you speak to a Canadian Francophone, you get Quebecker French, which I'm sure would have made my French teacher cringe. Heck, it makes me cringe, and I speak it! (not terribly well, but well enough to know how divergent it's gotten).
If you're doing fifth element you know you have to do a Leeloo outfit too! 😜 Just start a fifth element series and make every outfit in the movie, you know we'd all watch with our eyes glued to the screen 😂

As a baker, I have made many cakes thinking, "oh, I did this wrong," "oh, that didn't work the way I thought it would," but we always learn and improve from our mistakes as well as our successes. Thank you for sharing this one with us! Hope you are having the best time in Japan!

Those of us who are familiar with whimsy & playful art, especially that which mimics other things, my guess is we all love this dress and the joyous reveal.
Pinkie Pie would totally love that dress, head piece, & shoes. However Hextian gave a cute sweet outfit fill with delicious desserts.
Let her caulk. 😂 These kind of chaotic creations are my kind of art. Keep it up!
People can say "Happy Birthday To You", but that cake dress moves, embodies and exudes HAPPY even more than just a celebratory greeting. That being said, I did NOT notice any mask being worn during this process, tsk tsk. I always admire the way a creator can take the failures, learn, correct and produce something unique and fun. BTW the way that dress moves would improve even my club dancing techniques.😉

You might have avoided the exploding piping bags, if you just cut the star shape in der right size at the tip of the caulk bottle. Can't use the bottle afterwards as intended, but you used a lot of it on this dress anyways.

Ohmygod, that’s so awesome, and the way it moves is so perfect!!! This makes me want to experiment with trying to cut patterns into the caulking tube tip! I had recently thought to add some caulking to an art piece, but I hadn’t thought about making cake with it!!! Haha! I love how the foam turned out as well, I’ll bet the gesso added a lot with the texture as well! The color looked like a great match!

OMG!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!! For my birthday last March, I made a huge hat in the shape of a 5 tiered birthday cake that blew bubbles from the top & was complete with lit candles (with LED lights). I've often wondered how I could top that for next year's birthday & now I know. I will make my own birthday cake dress! Thank you for the inspiration! And I totally would have used the whipped cream & cherries on the bra top. Happy Birthday!

Haha, that was great. I sort of wonder if you could have put the cake decorating tips directly on the caulking tube so you could use the gun?
As someone who's had to remove caulking from a number of places it didn't want to let go of, seeing you peel it off the parchment paper was SUPREMELY satisfying.
I never thought about expanding foam as whipped cream decoration, however, I do a lot of messing around with caulking and drywall mud at work and it always makes me want to come home and bake a cake so I can play with decorating it, because I was good at work and did not eat the Forbidden Frosting... just made a lot of caulk jokes. As one does.
If René Magritte were here, he'd say, "Ceci n'est pas un gâteau."
