Wash your berries in cold water & give them a spray of apple cider vinegar to get rid of any bugs or dirt. Do this the night before and make sure they're dry before putting them back in the fridge. Always keep your berries in the fridge until it's time to dip them. Take them out 30 - 45 minutes before dipping to bring them to room temperature and pat each one to make sure they're dry.

Hello I usually fill up my container that I’m using and it’s about 1 cup of chocolate .
I microwave my chocolate 20 seconds at a time until it’s melted i mix it every time I take it out of the microwave to make sure that it’s evenly melted.
The merckens chocolate is very runny so it’s never thick when melted.

Hello, great video. But for some reason when I dip mine and pull them out the chocolate starts to harden and it get like these breaks and has patches. I really can’t explain it lol. But do you let the chocolate cool for a second before you dip cuz mine don’t even be shiny when it’s wet.

    • @laurengomez9709
      @laurengomez9709  Před 3 lety

Vantoria McCullough yes! So usually when that happens that means
Either the humidity in your area
Or the chocolate is too hot
Usually when I dip my strawberries I completely pat dry them and let them sit out until they’re fully dried .
I melt my chocolate and let it sit for at least 5-8 min before dipping!
Of course this all depends on the temperature in your house !
Chocolate can be so hard to work with 😐

Shanita Wright so it definitely shouldn’t take that long at all.
Try using a “coating chocolate “
So that it hardens within minutes .
After dipping you don’t need to refrigerate or freeze your berries if you use a coating chocolate .

do you ever use a little bit of oil before melting the chocolate? My chocolate comes out too thick and heating it longer only makes it very clumpy. I need help 😭

      heyyy!
so I never have to use oil because of the chocolate brand I use.
in order to get good results with the chocolate you would have to use a brand like "merckens" usually they have it at your local cake supply store or even on etsy!
Im going to be making a video on how to properly melt chocolate soon!
since its a challenge for a lot of people
and if your chocolate is thick that usually means that you heated it for too long.
start off by melting your chocolate for 20 seconds at a time
I usually do that twice , mix it and reheat for 15 seconds
      until its melted
remember to stir each time you take it out
after I see that its almost fully melted I let it sit on the counter for 3 minutes and stir it if I see that its not melted all the way ill pop it back in for 10 seconds
      lol sorry for the paragraph!
melting chocolate is always a struggle but you just have to go little by little and you'll get the results you want :)

Is the merckens chocolate really sweet?

I use Merkens for my berries. Definitely one of my favorites. Not overly sweet and doesn’t have a bitter taste 😉

No it isn’t very sweet , you can also use dark chocolate if you don’t like the milk chocolate . Dark chocolate has more of a bitter taste but it’s still very delicious 😋

Almond bark chocolate in milk chocolate (from Walmart )
And for colors I use Merkens chocolate
Merkens can be found online or sometimes at bakery supply stores
