    BBQ is very regional in the USA, almost every state has their own version, way to many to fully name. dry rub,wet,sticky,vinegar,mustard, honey, smokey. then also types of wood,charcoal,gas grill so so so many variations.but typically the Southern USA is known for the best types.

      Totally agree. I've had BBQ everywhere. Pick a State, they will have one ... two or even three different styles of BBQ. Where I live in California we have Santa Maria Style BBQ which is Cavallero style rub, very simple with beans and simple salsa. All BBQ is delicious! All States are awesome!. Num Num!

      how are you going to mention grills when talking about barbecue? yes, there are regional differences. but barbecue is smoked meat. charcoal and gas grills will not give you barbecue. you can throw some wood chunks in a grill, but you get a lesser effect then you'd get from a counter top smoking gun. direct heat on a grill is not barbecue. if you're talking about southern american barbecue, a grill is never involved anywhere in the cooking process of the meat

      funny I worked at Woodies BBQ in the deep south for like 6 years as a youth. we smoked the meat only 4 hours then grilled for that crispy sweet sticky bbq coating. before putting back in a slow oven over night for the nest day. because we found most people don't really enjoy chewing on a campfire. and at the moment I am visiting in a area in North Carolina known for its bbq and i must have 20 types to choose from within an hour of me. and a few are not smoked at all. I have traveled all over the states. and as i said its all regional but every region says theirs is the only way. i should have added that to the first comment. as for the word BBQ it honestly changes meanings not only across America but across the planet. I never said they do not use grills in the south. maybe that is how it is in your area. i did say {but typically the Southern USA is known for the best types.}Happy New Year

    I think the both of you would enjoy watching Cowboy Kent Rollins, you can see how the food is prepared. He mostly uses a Dutch oven over a campfire but the recipes can be baked in a regular oven as well. He’s very entertaining and fun to watch. Love your reactions!! Happy New Year!! 👍👍

    Yeah, a Loaded Baked Potato has butter, sour cream, green onions, and bacon (or whatever other meat you want).
    Cracklin's are pork skin. But that still had some of the pork belly attached.
    As for the ENORMOUS baked potato, it's most likely grown in Idaho, where the best Russet potatoes in the world are grown. They get harvested and sorted according to size for packaging. I have seen potatoes sold that size in a specialized (more gourmet-type) grocery store, and they aren't cheap.
    Great reaction... I hope y'all get over to the States sometime!

      You are correct on the potatoe. The potatoe here is medium sized. The very large potatoes are cut and sold to McDonalds, Burger King and other restaurants as French fries.

    Ribs: Baby Back ribs, Spare ribs, (Baby back ribs are cut from the top of the rib cage, near the backbone. Spareribs are cut from the bottom of the rib cage, and sometimes they include the brisket, which is a bony piece of meat that hangs from the bottom. The farther down the rib cage you go, the meatier the ribs get and Country Rib (cut from where the loin and shoulder meet.). Then there’s dry rub and wet BBQ sauce. Smoked and non smoked - the combination is endless. My garden was 10ftx12ft this year and the “groundhog/woodchuck had a smorgasbord this year and ate every brussels sprout, zucchini and eggplant I had. BRUSSELS SPROU SLIDERS: 30 Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, and drizzle 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, cook 375. Take 4 ounces prosciutto, cut into 1-inch strips, 4 ounces bite-size fresh mozzarella balls, 10 cherry tomatoes sliced in half, and assemble using Toothpicks.

    Restaurant baked potatoes are humongous here! Some of our barbecue places around here smother a baked potato with barbecue, beans, and slaw.

    The main thing I notices was that they did Chicken BBQ because Texas isn't big on Chicken... Chicken does do well on the Low and Slow method of Cooking and if you have to high of heat the skin will burn... But it looked tasty....
    And Where was the CORN BREAD!!!! Where was the Banana Pudding? LOL

    We have what we call super baker russett potatoes. You just basically let them grow longer.
    I still hate Brussel sprouts.
    Carol is right about the pulled pork. I was about to suggest making it in the crockpot. That's how we make ours..well I use my Insta Pot.

    A brussel sprout slider would imply that it is a little sandwich, with whatever filling, but the brussel sprout is a substitute for the bread.

    RIB TIP: SET oven ON 180° f seasoning it with salt, pepper, & some Cajun seasoning. Add half cup water to stop fat from messing up stove.Go to bed be happy in morning cause can have ribs for breakfast.

    Back when the economy wasn't so bad before 2008 they had two different sit down restaurants in my town that served different variations of huge baked potatoes.
    Something about a baked potato with cheese and chili is delicious.

    Carol, I know you guys love your brussel sprouts......if you want to try a new way to eat them, mix a little balsamic vinegar with honey and salt and pepper, toss the sprouts in it and then roast them until brown and tender in the oven......they are absolutely delicious!!

    A stuffed potato or Stuffed Baker is everything in a loaded potato plus some type of barbecue meat or chili & maybe some steamed broccoli

    The biggest states for BBQ are Texas and Tennessee, but North Carolina and Alabama are also quite well known. But every southern state makes BBQ and it's all a little bit different. Texas is traditionally beef and most of the rest of the south is pork.

      Oddly, Brussel Sprouts are 1 of the few vegetables my hubby will look forward to. He's a "Meat and Potato" guy. Lol these and asparagus are really the only 2. SMH he will eat others but will try to avoid if possible.

    In Southeast Missouri, USA our bbq restaurants serve loaded baked potatoes with pulled pork, bbq sauce, cheese, sour cream, green onions.
    We are fortunate enough that we have Kansas City style BBQ and St Louis style bbq.
    You'll also find in Missouri that many people have their own smokers and grills in their backyards. We LOVE bbq!!

    The cracklin is essentially pork belly. Skin through the meat. That particular cracklin is smoked on the bbq like the brisket.

I do understand your want of BBQ, as it is delicious, but it is hard to beat a good steak, seasoned only with butter, salt and pepper.     Because Louisianians love their seafood, seafood baked potatoes are frequently available in local restaurants. The baked potato is often topped with a heaping amount of shrimp or crawfish etouffee, a rich, thick stew. And there’s a Zatarain’s for that, too.

    Baked beans are real good with bbq but I fix mine up ,
    I put cumin, pepper, catsup,mustard, brown sugar , onion, and I add little smokies in it or eckridge sausage in it

    Cut bacon in pieces and start frying😂 when It’s partially cooked add halved Brussels sprouts flat side down . Put lids over pan and cook till tender,stirring turn sprouts over and brown other side add salt to your taste. Adding bacon makes sprouts taste so good. Especially if bacon has a Smokey flavor.❤

    You got it Carol. Make your own pulled pork. I usually slow cook a pork shoulder or pork butt in my crockpot/slow cooker. Then shred it to eat as is or sandwiches. It can also be used in tacos(carnitas), nachos or even top a baked potato with it. Lots of ways to use it. So yummy.

    It is a large regular potato, most likely from Idaho. Loaded potato looks like it has melted cheese, bacon, sour cream, & chopped chives.
    BRUSSEL SPROUTS SLIDERS:
    Ingredients:
    2 tablespoon butter
    1 onions, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    2 tablespoon maple syrup
    2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    20 large brussels sprouts, halved
    2 tablespoon olive oil
    kosher salt
    Freshly ground black pepper
    6 slices thick bacon
    7 ounces brie, cut into squares
    1. Preheat oven to 375°. In large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onion & cook until very soft, about 8 minutes. Stir in garlic & cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, & chili powder, then season with salt and pepper. Cook until mixture has reduced and onions are jam-like consistency, about 10 minutes more. Remove from heat.
    2. On large rimmed baking sheet, toss brussels sprouts with olive oil & season with salt & pepper. Cook until just tender about 20 minutes. Let cool slightly.
    3. In medium skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy about 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels, then chop into squares.
    4. To assemble slider, top cut side of one brussels sprout half with piece of bacon. Place piece of brie on top then dollop of onion jam on top of brie. Place 2nd brussels sprout half on top, cut side-down, then secure slider sandwich with a toothpick. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

    BBQ is made differently in each state. Dry rub, wet rub, etc but all in huge slow cookers. Huge difference in taste state to state. Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas has great BBQ. Loaded has meats on it. Lots of variations. In Arkansas a loaded potato has barbecue meats, cheese, sour cream and assorted toppings. Wonderful

    Thanks for the video. I used to have a portable hibachi grill that I used on my extremely small back patio. I lived in a townhouse surrounded by a bunch of other townhomes. We could not grill on the commons area because we only owned our townhouses and they had rules governing use of commons area. Also, I know people who live in apartments that have balconies. They use their hibachi grills that have handles. The prices are from maybe $30 up to $500. I don't know if you have those little grills DLee

    Baked potatoes are one of those things where if you like it, start out putting on melted butter, sour cream (I don't use it, I hate sour cream), then whatever floats your boat. Broccoli and cheese is good, leftover meat, chili and cheese. Just make it a meal. We do it a lot with leftovers. Make a meal of it. Yes, potatoes are that big here. But, they are the russet potatoes other varieties aren't that big. Same with nachos, do it your way. Baked potato soup is amazing!

      We have restaurants that serve only baked potatoes with different toppings. There is a place here that serves potatoes with broccoli and cheese, chile and cheese, BBQ brisket and sauce, gumbo, chicken and BBQ sauce, chicken and bacon, or meatballs and cheese.

    A simple nachos recipe for you is, 1 packet of taco spices, ground meat of your choice, a good melting cheese, sour cream, avocado, and corn tortilla chips. Cook up the meat with the taco spices, spread corn tortilla chip's on a plate pour meat over chips and shredded cheese , but in oven until cheese melts. Mash avocado up in a bowl like mashed potatoes. Once nacho chips are ready spoon avocado and sour cream on chips and serve. If you have refried beans they wood add to the flavor and true Tex Mex experience. Almost forgot the grilled jalapeños or pickled jalapeños if you can get them.

    Carol's exasperated reaction when they pulled up the bbq nachos made me laugh (and cry) along with her.
    I live in Sacramento, California, where all of our "food style" is "New American," which is more bougie cr@p.
    I went on vacation to Texas and just got back, and that was no frills, AMAZING TASTE, American food, and a couple of instances of amazing Mexican/Tex-Mex food.
    I have had pulled pork bbq nachos, and when done right, they are heaven.
    I hope you can make it to the states, and not only try our amazing southern food, but other regions as well (MIdwest has great meat and potatoes, casseroles, etc), and the northeast has great seafood dishes.

    idea when the time comes, Swedes do a Southern BBQ tour from North Carolina to Idea for nachos Cool ranch Doritos, Jack Daniel's pork BBQ, Bacon bits, shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

    I used to call a "loaded baked potato": a "little basket of Heaven"!! :) You-guys could make a loaded potato - just add a meat (ham, sausage, beef), sour cream, green onions, shredded cheddar cheese and maybe some garlic to your buttered baked potato: OMG - SO GOOD!!!     Every region in the States that's known for BBQ puts their own spin on it, but at the end of the day, it's all spectacular. Same goes for a variety of different foods. For example, the northeast has the best Italian food in the country and depending on where you are, especially in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT), you'll get a number of variations. Even regional staples like southern fried chicken has location specific twists.

    The difference might be that with brisket, there's the "point" and the "flat". The flat is usually less moist than the point.

    Enjoyed the video you know America is so big an so vast that depending on what part of the country you go to the food is so good an so unique. Because America is made up of people from every country an different cultures in the world. It's so diverse with different cultures an different styles of how something is prepared seasoned an cooked. An we have some of the best chefs in the world to because of this. Some things in some areas one might not favor but overall a man could spend a lifetime traveling America an trying a different kind of food every day. An it's one reason why we love America so much is it's diversity.

    Carol where some people like sour cream on their potato we like yogurt on ours, lucky me that my wife makes our yogurt. A single loaded potato is plenty for most people. Happy New Year from the Quad Cities.

    Louisiana is on the eastern border of TX - just saying.
    You CAN smoke in the oven... there are a few ways to do it... package should be on the way in a month or 2 with everything you need. (Except the meat, and maybe a few other things like salt, pepper etc. that you can get there.) It will be just about the right size you can get for just the 2 of you... might take a couple 3 tries tho even really "meh" BBQ is pretty damn good.
    Did you two put an air fryer (smallish) on your Amazon list yet? Are they available there w/ the correct plug/electric requirements? I mainly ask b/c I do baked potatoes 3/4 in the microwave and the last 10-15 minutes in the air fryer... you can use the oven tho. (Plus a ton of other things, also they are faster, energy conserving & make items crispier w/o all the extra oil/fat ((I always do SOME extra oil/fat - just because 1. we need fats, and 2. It tastes better, just don't have to use much at all. And with similar/same/better results 1/10th or in some cases using 1/100th the oil/fat.
    Ok Loaded baked potatoes:
    A few styles we favor:
    Classic: Sour cream, high quality cheddar, chives, optional bacon
    Mexican: Pico de gallo, corn, black beans, guacamole, cheese, sour cream, cilantro
    Lox: Smoked salmon, chives, cream cheese
    Chili: Chili, cheddar cheese, green onion, sour cream
    Broccoli Cheddar: Sauteed broccoli, sour cream, cheddar cheese or Vegan Queso
    Nacho: Vegan Taco Meat or taco meat- seasoned, canned refried beans, cheddar cheese, Nacho Cheese or Vegan Nacho Cheese, salsa, sliced green onions, chopped lettuce, pickled jalapenos, crushed tortilla chips or tortilla strips
    Ranch: Sauteed Vegetables, Homemade Ranch Dressing (or Vegan Ranch), chickpeas or shredded chicken, chopped chives
    Fajita: Fajita veggies, refried beans or pinto beans, sour cream, shredded cheese
    BBQ : Butter, Salt, Pepper, Shredded cheddar &/or Monterey Jack cheese, Pulled pork (or brisket, or pulled chicken - depends on what you have/are having with, BBQ sauce, Chives
    Or some combo of toppings above to each person's liking.
    OR can do a baked SWEET potato!
    Stuffed sweet potato toppings
    Now my favorite is a sweet potato, again, cooked for (roughly 8 minutes - 4 minutes, roll over 4 more mins on high - varies a bit depending on size by+/- 2 mins and depending on the microwave you are using - just gotta start at 4 and increase time until you find the sweet spot). Then I pop it into pre-heated air fryer (or oven( for another 10-20 minutes until I hit the desired 'doneness' I like honey, brown sugar and pecans in the air fryer/oven part - split it open, add a Tblsp of honey, 1/2 a Tblsp of brown sugar and a tblsp or 2 of pecans - kinda crumbled up a fair bit... and stuffed into the honey, br. sugar & potato insides.
    Then I like it stuffed w/ caramelized onion & butter other times... then all of the above loaded combos - depending on what else I'm having.
    Just in case the office blokes? family went to the Louisianna - Carolinas etc... and that will expose some of the other styles of bbq.
    The Brussels Sprouts Sliders is this:
    Ingredients
    30 Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
    2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
    1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
    Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
    4 ounces prosciutto, cut into 1-inch strips
    4 ounces bite-size fresh mozzarella balls
    10 cherry tomatoes, sliced
    Toothpicks, as needed
    Directions
    1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with the butter and olive oil; season with salt and pepper.
    2. Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a baking sheet and arrange them in an even layer, cut side down. Roast until the Brussels sprouts are tender and lightly golden, 17 to 20 minutes.
    3. Remove the Brussels sprouts from the oven and cool until easy to handle.
    4. To assemble the sliders, fold 2 or 3 strips of prosciutto on one half of a Brussels sprout. Top with a mozzarella ball, a cherry tomato slice and another Brussels sprout half; secure with a toothpick.
    5. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Serve immediately.

    My Swedish buddy in Växjö sends me photos and vids of his cooking. It looks good, but seems to need some upgrades. You can add more flavor to your food by just adding different spices and seasonings. You guys have Kalles caviar and I’m just kinda like…what COULD you do to make that better…maybe throw in some sriracha/roasted red pepper hot sauce. However, Swedish läkrits will forever be close to my heart cause y’all do it right. The trick with American food is the method of cooking and the flavoring. Beside that, it’s usually simple ingredients.

      We did that when we lived in apartment, chained it to the bike rack so outsiders couldn't steal. All our neighbors enjoyed using it. We had to enlarge the pit lol. It was charcoal so everyone bought their own or joined in another neighbor, that way everyone got to enjoy it. We left it when we moved
