I bought the Momentum trim level with B5/AWD and technology package. I actually like the faux leather better than the perforated leather of the Inscription. One thing I especially like in my Volvo is the pilot assist. It works phenomenally well. The only issues I’ve had with my XC60 are some minor software issues with the new Android OS. The welcome chime that it should make when you first get in doesn’t work. Not a big deal but indicative of software issues. Hopefully, will be resolved with future software update. Love your channel. You guys are awesome!

I get an average 4L/100km with my XC60 T8 hybrid. Use EV mode in the city with regenerative braking. On the highway, I use gas then press the recharge button to refill the EV battery. When you exit the highway, change the drive mode back to EV again. The last time I filled my gas tank, I got 1,500km on a full tank. When you learn how to use the hybrid system, you’ll get awesome mileage.

It's been awhile since Zach reviewed it, would really appreciate a more recent take from the two of you. I believe it still has the drive modes and previous infotainment system?
Also, have you ever thought of making a video on the European delivery options? Are they still as grand? Are they still worth it? My understanding is that Volvo still offers the most value?
    Thanks from Georgia!

Love the design of Volovos. They are tasteful and not overdone, which is hard to find in a lot of Japanese, German, and American cars. I think it's Subaru, certain Audi products, some Mercedes, and Volvo that still make elegant vehicles. For Subaru, the Outback is a clean and fine example of a practical wagon or SUV with their crosstrek. They are inoffensive to look at and don't feel like they are trying too hard, which I like. For Audi, their stuff is very simple and restrained, with simple grills and designs that make their cars look nice for years. With Mercedes, a lot of their cars are too flashy, but their E-class wagon and GLC are two cars I quite like from them

  • @richardhale2117
    @richardhale2117 Před 2 lety +2

Guys, love your reviews. They are so entertaining I watch your reviews of cars I have little interest in. A comment on this review...Andrea says the T8 is too much money for too little range. For U.S. buyers, the T8 Recharge qualifies for a $7,500 tax credit, so the actual cost of a $55,000 base model T8 is $47,500. I don't consider that too much money for this car, in fact it's a very good price for a car of this luxury and comfort. You dismiss the range, but plug in hybrids are best for people who both want to use less gas AND typically use their car mostly for shorter trips (daily commuting, errands) but want the "security" of a gas engine for longer trips. That's us, and because all of our daily short trips are gas-free, we have gotten over 70 mpg over 6 months of driving. Today is Feb 24 and I last filled up on Dec 9. Not bad for an SUV of this comfort and capacity. In fact, not bad for any car that's not a pure EV . Whether a plug-in hybrid makes sense for someone is all about how they will use it, and a lot of people don't regularly drive much over 30 miles per day.
Oh, one more little thing. The crystal shifter is made by Orrefors, a Swedish company, not Swarovski, an Austrian company.
    Keep up the great work!

Fabulous review as always Zack and Andrea👌💯 all Volvo’s these days are extremely elegant, quiet, refined… truth is in regards to reliability Volvos are a lease only or perhaps buy a certified preowned which comes with a long warranty. They hold their value extremely well, but the gas mileage is poor as you stated. Even in the S60 and the V-60 that I have driven for a few months it’s nowhere near a equivalent engine as let’s say a 330i. One major omission in all Volvos even a $80,000 XC 90 is a power steering wheel. It’s baffling that they don’t offer this as a luxury car maker….🤔

Zach kept calling the new infotainment system "Android based". It is actually quite different (Google Automotive) to the point that it doesn't even support Android Auto - wired or wireless -, let alone Apple Carplay. Volvo says it will be available as an update "in the future". You can download "certain" apps, but again the dealer doesn't have a list of which apps are available and which aren't. I listen to Audible audio books during my commute. The dealer couldn't confirm if it is available but some CZcamsr claimed it is not. So I have to listen to AM radio on an app and wait for some future update to get Android Auto?!? This is a deal breaker for me.
On the positive side: the touch screen works with gloves on. I have been taking this for granted until I test drove the top of the line Genesis GV70 where I had to take my gloves off to turn on the heat. Call me picky but in Toronto winters that was another deal breaker for me.

@@alifarsani2469 The RDX has a great interior, a sporty drive with plenty of power, it's more engaging to drive. This Volvo feels like "traditional luxury" when it comes to the drive and even the interior. I did firm up the suspension a bit in the Volvo, but it still offers that smooth ride with a softer suspension than the RDX in my opinion. You can upgrade to the Polestar drive mode which I hear makes the XC60 quite lively and engaging. I haven't had the opportunity to drive one. There's also great value with the RDX, you can get one fully loaded for $55,505 CAD/ $48,200 USD. Pretty amazing especially if you are on a tighter budget.

However if they are in the shop and you are stuck in rental car you can nothing!!! This was my situation with Mercedes , 27 trips to the shop in 19 months! Had to pay 10,000 to offset it's poor trade value! Features and benefits mean nothing if they are not usable!

I did consider this vehicle, but eventually went with the Genesis GV70. I noticed there are a few similarities in exterior styling and stance. Take the front headlights of the Volvo, split them apart and that is a Genesis! Volvo has sharper lines but a similar stance. My biggest concern with the Volvo was reliability. Yes, I believe Genesis reliability is better than Volvo! I take a lot of flak for that, but I had a Kia Optima for 10 years before this and I found it more reliable than the Honda Accord I had before that! Yes, they replaced the engine but there were no arguments, no delay, had a rental car given to me and didn't cost me a dime. They stand behind their product.

I always love Volvo's distinctive styling, even back in their glorious days of FR 200-Series, 700 and 900-Series "its boxy but its good" old days. However, Volvo was build like tank and was one of the most reliable cars in the world, other than the old school over engineered Mercedes. Fast forward to today, Volvo looks much sportier and younger but its reliability is nothing but iffy. Just like its German rivals, Volvo is better off a lease for 3 years and return it back. Buy off is too risky given its mechanical complexity and interior electronics. I am pretty sure Volvo's reliability will be even more scary if they go all electric.

    • @benjaminsmith2287

I don't know. I had Volvos in earlier years (70s, 80s and 90s models) that weren't particularly reliable. I found them always to be well built and today's Volvos are more solid than the older ones. I don't really find anything better about the older Volvos vs. today's Volvos (except visibility). The 240 was simple enough but it was so long in the tooth in the 80s and 90s it made Volvo look way out of date. Today's Volvos can be reliable or mechanical nightmares, pretty much like any of the more expensive Euro cars.

Base MSRP is now $35,100 USD for a T4 which is what the T5 used to start at - it's kind of overpriced this year.

This should confuse the designers of the XC60! On the 2022, dust and mud creeps into the car through the rear doors and trunk slots. There were no such problems with the XC60 12 years ago. They would have to be put in a German car to learn what a driver assistant needs to know for a car. This car is not ready…

About the next Volvo generation, it will look quite different inside. Like it or not, it's going to a "floating" big screen with a minimal amount of physical switches. The Concept Recharge shows some of the differences from the current model. But the XC60 is going into 2025 in its current form, which IMO will make it look long in the tooth. And Volvo will change their cars to actual names, so XC90 and XC60 are going away and the rumored name for the next generation, EV only XC90 replacement is "Embla."
Volvos are nice. I do think it's time for new ones and they're going EV. They don't want to use engines anymore but the market hasn't adapted to EVs fast enough for Volvo to make the switch completely. But it's planned by 2030.
