While tires are super helpful for improvement, they're no substitute for seat time. Get out there and ride guys! Also please check out The Ridge and let 'em know Papa Yam sent you: www.ridgewallet.com/yammienoob
your mics picking up some echo in the room bruv
What's up with all the echo in this video Yammie?
Totally unrelated, but I finally joined the club and got 2018 KTM Rc390! I love it. Thanks for your reviews.
Yammie Noob Hey Yammie, I’m a new rider looking to get my first bike, I found a 2013 cbr500r with 19k miles on the clock for 2 grand. Good buy or no?
How bout t31? I thought it was newer than the t30 evo? T31 evo mybe?
I like the part where he talks about tires
I love lamp
Yes! Lmao
Hey, me too
What time I missed it
The rubber that will protect you when things get sticky and wet and hot 🤣🤣🤣🤣I'm fckn dead
A good rubber will make sure you can go harder and faster.
@@averysdaddy05 ahhhh man I'm deadddd🤣🤣🤣
I have the Perelli supercorsa sp V-3. There almost done after only 3,000 miles. But they are the stickyest tires ever, love them.
Literally just put the new power 5’s on about 3 hours before this went live. Absolutely amazing for my cbr1000RR.
dpats54 I’m confused on the new ones so is the power 5 the new road 5? And is the power GP a streetable tire without disappearing under 3k miles
Joedymar Mendoza it doesn’t make sense, but the Power 5’s replace the Power RS. Just better wet performance
@@spktylr no they dont they replace the power 3, power GP replaces Power RS
There is also a GT version for the really heavy stuff or if you like a super stiff tire! I’m thinking 5’s will be what I put on my Suzuki GSXS1000! Got original Dunlop’s on it now they suck their old need replaced! They got it home half way across the eastern sea board though!
I'm rocking the Power 5 on my 750. To be honest, I think it has beyond reasonable grip for hard cornering and decent longevity for moderate wheelies on the back roads. I think it's the best value for type of aggressive street riding that I'm doing.
I run Pirelli Rosso Corsa 2s and it grips endlessly! One of the best tyres for both street and track use.
I use Dunlop q4 on my Panigale 1299s, spot on Yam, they really are confidence inspiring, sticky as hell, very progressive lean, unlike Pirelli Corsas etc, suppose it depends on your preference, the q4 does not last past 4-5 heavy track days though, the q3s provides 90% of the grip and lasts around 4 times as long.
One of the wittiest intros yet Yam! Nice one. Lol
I am officially a manscape 3.0 owner thanks for your constant videos ! Lol 😂
The Tunguska event was a either a meteor or comet that came in so fast it vaporized before making impact causing a huge amount of flame, force, and heat. If you look at pictures, you will see trees blown over as if an explosion had blown them over and eye witness account claim a loud bang and bright light that caused just about everyone in the region to go deaf. Crazy stuff yo
Been running Metzeler Sportec M7 RR's on my Ninja 650 for a while now. More than impressed with their levels of grip, and the feedback they give.
Riding is the 'Every Other Day' commute, and spirited canyon carving on weekends. Currently have about 12,000km (Sorry 'Merica) on the rear, and will likely get another 2, 000 to 3,000km before it's in need of replacement.
I just bought new tires for my CBR 954rr for the first time this season. I cheaped out and got Pirelli Angel ST set from amazon. Your video has me questioning my decision. xD
Running Michelin Road 5s on my RC8. Great tire. Ran Pilot Road 3 and 4 on prev GSXRs...great tires as well.
Still rocking the Q3 plus from two years ago, and they're much better than i am in a hot corner.
When I started riding Michelin Pilot Power was THE sport bike tire you bought, nothing else. Dunlop, Bridgestone, and Pirelli of the day just couldn’t compare. Now everyone runs S22, Q4, and Super Corsa. I’ve tried the Michelin Road 5 on my Versys 650 and they were fantastic, transformed the bike. They also last a ridiculously long time and I don’t think there’s a better wet tire. Sport touring tires have come ridiculously far and almost make sport tires redundant on the street. That said I’d be very interested to try the Power 5 on my next sportbike.
my favorite tire is Metzeler sportec M5 Yammie.. Affordable price and pretty good on cornering (Not too aggressive tho). Doing pretty well on my ZX6
1) Michelin Power GP
2) Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22
3) Continental ContiSport Attack 4
4) Dunlop Q4 Sportmax
5) Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC
6) Michelin Power 5
7) Bridgestone Battleax Sport Touring T30 Evo
For road use?
@@i_read_bad_reviews some are more suitable on the track....
Having tried Continental, Metzler, Bridgestone and Michelin for street riding in all weathers, I can honestly say the the Michelin PR series (PR4 or PR5) are the best _all weather street tyre_ I've ever had, closely followed by Metzler. I currently have Bridgestone on one bike and Michelin on the other. The Bridgestone tyres are not fit for purpose in the wet. Luckily, I rarely ride that bike in the wet but I'll be swapping them for Michelin PR5 GT in time for the "riding season".
Bike Farkles Say it Again
Currently on the Angle GT II, but the Road 5 is basically as good in the dry, and better in the wet. Also lasts longer i suspect, not that the GT II is bad in any way, but i'll probably end up on road 5's next time.
I have the road attack2 tires on my dl1000. It was the best street tire in 19inch that I could find. Love them
I got Michellin pilot road 5 for my FZ07..... sweet👌🥰
road 5 are good if its not to hot, Conti road attack3 is better but i would defently go for the pirelli angel gt2, its a sport touring tire but feels like sport tires we had 3 to 4 years ago... great sportouring tire.
Did you change from the Brisgestone Battlax to the Mitchelin Pilot ? 👍🏻
Just scuffed in a set of Power Gp's on my R1..Awesome tire..Maybe the best yet!! Was running Q3 p's and had nothing but problems with sidewall desalination on 2 sets.
40 more degrees than many of you will ever see. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That killed me Yammie.
For anyone on a 650 class bike, get the Michelin road 5 or the conti road attack 3, if you're a really really fast rider or have a more powerful bike, get the S22, power 5 or Metzeler m9rr... You don't need more for the street... They handle track days just fine if you're a beginner track rider
Papa Yam bless my road! 😇
I will buy the Michelin Road 5 or equivalent , the same as I put on last summer and put over 12,000kms on it... As long as they are soft compound outers and harder compound in the middle...thats all that matters. The Road 5's work awesome...
1. Q3+ You can still do track days fine. If you get caught in the rain, it will not kill you!!!
2. Metzeler Racetec M7RR. I like these as much as the Q3+ on the track. But this tire has better wet performance. My favorite FUN tire all around.
3. Pirelli Angel GT Not as sporty as the other ones. But the most sport capable touring tire IMHO.
4. Bridgestone T30Evo/T31 A lower price version of the Angel GT with a little more tread life.
5. Pilot Power RS or Pilot Power 3. Kind of long the lines of the Q3+. But alternatives at best. The Power 3 is more road oriented then the RS.
6. Dunlop GPR300. General everyday run up the mill tire. Not excellent at anything. But good at most things. One of the best low priced tires out there.
7. Continental Contimotion The most underrated tire in the universe. Same technology as the Sport or the Street Attack at a budget price. Just be sure you run you tire pressure a little higher when you run these.
These are my 7. I have owned and tracked all of these tires. People make a big deal about track days. But you can run any tire on the track effectively if you know how to adjust your pressure and your suspension. Will you win a race? Anyone who is trying to do that will not be watching this video....LOL The racing consultants are at the track and charge money. Round, 17", on sale and not a car tire....I WILL TRACK IT!!
I come from a drifting and street rod background before my interest in motorcycles. Just spend the money on the tires and be happy you only have to buy 2, yammies got the facts. Wheels AND tires will totally change the feel of your ride in a way nothing else will.
Just watched the video loved as always. I'm ready for a new rear tire on my CBR 600 f4i thinking of getting the Perillie Diablo
Does the f4i has abs coz i am considering buying an old 2012 Ninja 650 which doesnt have one
I run the pirelli diablo supercorsas on my ducati and they are the stickiest tire ive ever come across, but they do not last long at all. They are also super dangerous in the rain.
Coming from a Bridgestone S20 which lasted 8044km, picking up a new rear S22 today. Front tyre still S20
2016 Fireblade
Do not forget the number 1 rule when choosing a tyre: choose the tyre that fits your ability and riding style, while being honest with yourself. For most people the likes of a Supercorsa SC or other hypersport tyre will actually perform worse than any sports touring tyre because they cannot bring it to operating temperature with their lack of ability. It will feel as it lacks grip and will not inspire confidence actually hindering the progress of the rider while a less sporty tyre will offer increased grip and confidence for people who are not that experienced.
The Pirelli Supercorsa SC is the DOT Race tire. The Supercorsa SP v2/v3 is the road tire.
Correct.
Bridgestone s22's BAAAABBYYYYY!!!!!
Don't even have a bike yet, but yeah, i definitely need to know which set of tires I'd need.
Q 4 Is tire of choice on my 1299 Panigale S. I ride all year, a lot of rain time as well, no problem. Even in 40 degree weather they warm up quickly. Am an aggressive rider street and track ( armature class ) , 100% satisfied . One complaint, during the summer, 80 to 100 degree days, 3,000 miles on the rear tire, about 7,000 on the front, SO oil change and rear tire replacement. Ducati service is 7,500 miles , NO 3,000 to 3,500 in my book. Not compromising on my safety. this bike is my primary transportation, 14,000 miles in one year, YES 4 rear tires.. Thanks for the heads up on the 62 degree lean , did not know that ! The 1299 S has lean angle on the dash. LOVE it . Ride safe guys
"That’s why I buy what RyanF9 tells me". Lol, true.
And that's the Dunlop Roadsport 2 for most sport and naked bike riders according to his latest video.
I threw a pair of Michelin Power RS tires on my Street Triple after going through the factory Pirelli rubber. Could not recommend the Power RS more. It’s a great tire if you commute during the week and hit twistes on the weekend.
I agree that the Pirelli Super Corsa’s are not the best for the road IF you live in a 4 season city. I have a pair on my Daytona 675 and they do not inspire confidence for you ride in anything less than 70 degrees and sunny
Thanks this review legit helps
Wrote this while draging knee on my yzf r125
what tires you using mate? looking for some new ones and ride the same bike
Martin Thompson i use Michelin pilot street radial they are stock
I too like the other commenters have tried one tire and wholeheartedly recommend that one over the others that I haven't tried.
The conti sport attack 4 is very recommendable. I have my experience with it and it's super sticky on the sides from mile 1.
I literally was going to do a search for tires and then this came up in my subs lmao.
Power 5's are the replacement for the Power RS and are a hypersport tire. The Road 5 is Michelin's sport touring tire. Sport touring tires have more than enough stick to drag knee. Also the T31 is a better tire than the T30 and is its replacement.
i used to love the metzelers mi duke had, they didn't like to last though i destroyed 3 rear tires within five thousand miles but the front tire was still healthy
Pirelli super Corsa SP are on my triumph street triple rs 2020 and I love them 😍
M7RR, reasonably priced, great traction, great wear.
i had them on my daytona 675. i use bridgstone s22 now. way better than the m7rr. s22 is better in the corners, and front dont squish down while heavy braking like the m7rr does. both lasted me a little over 3000 miles on the rear
@@user-it4dq9dj9q Nice! I have a set of s22 ready too, been a newer design I hope it can handle the increased power of newer machines better.
The (relatively new) Pirelli angel GT2 tyres are outstanding for road use for me! Duel compound and very long lasting, yet SUPER sticky 🔥
Road 5 or Q3+ ain’t made my mind up yet but one of those two will be in my range for what I want! I want a grippy tire for acceleration and has enough life to last 10k miles or two riding seasons to me!
What u got? Had tried michelin power gp?
Papa papa I found a 1980 honda CB 4 cylinder I think I remember you looking around for one
I've become addicted to the Dunlop Q4s. It's an expensive addiction given that I get 1500 street miles on them, (lots) less when I do track days (COTA on July 5!). The big student discount from California Superbike School keeps me from robbing liquor stores to satisfy this addiction.
New rider. Just put a set of DunLop Q3+ on my Versys 650. So far I really like them. Your thoughts?
Wow, I never seen the pirelli supercorsa sc as oem tyres, must be a new thing as they take a long time to get to temp. Ducati use supercorsa sp as oem tyres they are great super fast warm up on the street. The other great tyres are the metzeler racetek rr in different compounds and the new metzeler m9 rr looks good. I run the sp on my hp4 and the metzeler racetek rr compound 3 on my ducati 1198. They both go great at the track too, no warmer. Thanks for the vid mate ride safe.
Pireli Diablo Corse II on my Ducati Monster 1100 Evo ABS. They seem to wear out fast enough. No track for me but need good dry and wet traction on road. Any suggestions? Or are those the best choice? Thanks
5:02 The video in the background, who else is in Brisbane, Australia!
Good old Edward Street.
Diablo súper corsa v2 and v3 number #1 😍😍
I really liked the dunlop Q2s as well as Q3s I've had me knee down on those numerous times. I had the Bridgestone hypersport s20s on of my bikes really like them as well and was able to drag knee with them. Also had some Michelin pilot power 2ct tires that I lowsided with on around a 50 degree day I didn't buy those anymore after that, not to say they aren't good tires but I didn't buy anymore.
Sad that no Metzelers were brought up. Been using the M7RRs for a fat minute now and love them. I used Pirelli Diablo 3s before this set and been enjoying the Metzelers more. Has more of a rounded shape verses the Pirelli but the turn in hasn't change for me. I'm excited to try the new M9RRs and I'll be using some of their K3 track tires when I go to the track.
With my luck I’ll buy a set of nice tires for the street and then eat a nail or piece of metal right after...
I run the Dunlop Q4 in the summer and the Q3+ the rest of the year
If you want A tire thats good but not stellar while on a budget, Michelin 2CTs. Q3+s are the absolute goat for street use
I have run Q3s for yes and put on Q4s last year WOW I never knew tires got so sticky
Can say from experience that Pirelli Diablo Supercorsas are straight bad on cold roads.
I can confirm 100% hammered the throttle doing 30 on a zx636 and the tire spun
Metzeler M9RR for Road & light track Action.
Michelin Power Cup 2
For bit Moore track focus.
Why when I’m editing Yammie Noob uploads a new video haha cool
As fat as sport-touring tires are concerned, the absolute best I've come across are the Spirit ST by Avon. Try as I might, I haven't been able to find their limits yet; they warm up as fast or faster on-street as your beloved Q4's
And there stable at all angles, even down to almost freezing temperatures! I think I paid ~$350cdn a set for them off of Fortnine for my Triumph. I did my own install and they were smooth to 100+mph (170km/h) before I had them balanced! Also: get your tires balanced.
I had the brand new Michelin power 5's on my bike for my track day last weekend. They had all the grip I needed and apparently have much better grip in the wet than the old power rs's
yea hes abit rough saying the power 5s are sports touring tyers as i just got some on my 2018 tuono factory! did they last long? only put them on today and drove home, big toss up between them and the s22
They skip a little on heavy lean angles and you have to replace soon as you see the bar…
I’m swift CB I got to Dunlop Q3++
How do you like Riding in Brisbane compared to other places ? Bet you loved Nebo and Tambourine..oh I love my S 21s on my 19 750z Gsxs..Great tyre.
Question do they already come with the rims or do you have to buy them separately
Papa yams had his nose plugged this whole video haha
I ride a 2007 GSXR 600, I’m about to get new tires, I only ride street. Debating between Michelin Power RS and Power 5’s. Which would be the better choice?
I run Michelin Road 5's on my 2002 SV650S... awesome tire with enough grip for me, and I put a couple hard track days down on them and never felt like they wouldn't take the peg scraping leans I put her through...
Your bikes dont have abs right? I am a beginner considering buying a 12 ninja 650 because i am getting it cheap so what do you think should i get the non abs.
Looking at putting Roadtech 01’s on my ninja 400.... thoughts???
My 400 is my daily commuter, my weekend warrior, missy twisty, thrasher dasher, mile hiker, squid Missle.
I thrash the corners, so close to dragging knee (stock rear sets are doo doo) what do y’all recommend if not the 01’s
I"m using Pirelli Angel GT2's on my Busa. They have the grip for aggressive riding and the long lasting wear of sport touring. I'm suppose to get like about 7-8k out of them, but we'll see. My last set of Battleaxe only got like 3k on them if that...
how have they held up? what's it been like? about to get these for my fz1
@@adamterrell4057 I got 9k out of them on the busa with really aggressive riding. I got another set because I like them a lot.
The T30 Evos were replaced last year by the T31. I personally would put out for the Pirelli Angel GT 2s first though. I have never tried either, but from everything I've seen, I think I would really love the Angels. I also have eyes on the SR22 for a fun sporty street tire and the Q3+ and Diablo Rosso 3 too. My current bike is due for new tires this year, so haven't decided what to get yet. Don't even know if I will change the tires yet as I am still mulling over just getting a new bike altogether, but if I don't, I will be needing new rubber for sure. For now I'm heavily biased towards getting the Angel GT 2.
I love the Angel GTs and currently I'm using T31. It's quite close to the Angels.
My tire is worn out, thank you papa yam
In all honesty on MT09s, I had Dunlop q4s Dunlop Q3 Plus Bridgestone s20s Bridgestone s21s. None of them lasted more than 3000 miles ..the Michelin road 5s....the best. I got over 8k miles out of them.. when I replace the rear it was actually because the sides were completely worn out the middle still had life and that's after a couple donuts and rolling burnouts and like I said 8,000 miles of hard riding. . in the rain a mode with a ECU flash Dyno tune traction control off I could not spend the tire if I tried in the rain the bike would literally take off on a wheelie
The road bikes come with the supercorsa SP. They are dual compound. The SC is the single compound track day tire. The SC does not come on any bike.
I use 45 euro kenda tires they have great grip and last along time
Knee down on S22? One can get their knee down on 10 year old touring tyres😔
Hahaha totally agree
Great Video, although I bet 95% of ppl watching this video would be just fine on a Continental Road Attack 3, a Michelin Road 5 or something like the Metzeler Roadtec 01 like on the CB650R. Sport touring tires have more than enough grip for the street and even some track days, are cheaper and last longer :D How about a video similar to this one but with touring tires? It would be very delightful imo
Love my Road 5's.... Metzlers didn't last long, good and sticky, but soft compound wears way too fast for a valued price point... the road 5 last 4 times as long as the Metzlers that came on my SV650S
@@TroyC68 yea the road 5s are known for lasting an eternity
@@mrtz2796 also very good grip...
Leaving work late one night last November, my boss on his Shadow fell way back from me, next day he told me how nuts I was on cold tires taking the turn I did..... and really, I was well within their capacity for grip...
I explained to him about the soft compound sides, tossed him the keys and said, lean it yourself... he came back grinning like a cheshire cat.... and I'm in Canada... November here was pretty chilly, but the tires held very well
@@TroyC68 yea I can imagine the high silica compound doing good work in the cold... The coldest I rode in this far was like 5°C and the bt023's that came on my mt07 were not good😂 I felt them moving around when leaning from time to time
@@zibingotaeam3716 true, although I don't go out specifically to ride in the rain it's nice to have if it surprises you or if there are some wet patches on the road
Hey Papa Yam. Check out Bridgestone RS11's. Have them on my Gixxer 1000. Excellent grip in the dry!
LOL didnt think I would get here soon enough? XD
What about the Dunlop GPR-300 that comes stock in the 2019+ R3 ????
Quite surprised you didn't mention the Pirelli SuperCorsa "SP" V3 road and trackday tyre. after running SC and SP back to back the was only 10-15% difference depending on track and tarmac
As a canadian, I can tell you that Dunlop Q3plus is great for rain and snow. Not that coolio for ice.
What should I put on my mt09? Street rider only but I like to get aggressive
Pilot Road 4’s or 5’s.
What’s a good tyre for a weekend rider occasional track day hayabusa
Yo nice 3 legs of man on them bars, have you ever been here Mr Yammie Noob?
Wow, in the USA you can get most any of these for $250 a set! ($109 front- $141 rear just ordered some S22's at this price shipped)
As a up an coming track boi just switching from s22s to pirelli TDs I went from a 1:55 down to a 1:41 at my local track an I get the pair mounted an balanced on site for 350
How many of you here don't even own a motorcycle👍
That was me last year.
negative, got 2. the skidddmissele and the never mentioned rc8r
I don't own "a" motorcycle I own motorcycles. Lol
Was me for 2 years but not anymore😉
I had one last fall, sold it, so now I’m bikeless for now. Hopefully by the end of summer I’ll be able to afford another.
Lol I’ll throw a like for the Alex Jones homage
I absolutely love the Dunlop Q3. My new bike has Bridgestones bt016 from factory and I don't really like them. I bought my track bike with a couple sets of scrub supercoarsa sc2's. And I have a bunch of different scrub Dunlop slicks to try as well. The previous owner loved the perrelli's. And I think they get about 60 degrees of lean similar to the q4
Also Yammie the audio on this video is terrible. Way to much echo in the background
"clapped out liter bike from the 90s" 😂😂
tire warmers aren't only for getting the tires up to temp before you first hit the track, but also for having them on the whole day, in between sessions. this minimizes the heat cycles that you use. makes the tires last for more future track days. if your track tires have something like 20 heat cycles total life, if you don't use warmers and hit a track day, that one day will have 5 or more sessions, and boom you just used up a quarter of the tire's heat cycle life for just one day.
Warmers are for genuine race tires and even then heat cycles aren't that much of an issue unless you're seriously quick. Street tires heat cycle literally every time you ride/park. They're designed to tolerate hundreds of heat cycles.
@@BTrain-is8ch indeed, and i'm not definitely not talking about street tires ;p
Where do the Pirelli Diablo Rossa lV tires fit into the mix. I have them on my 939 and I like them allot. but I'm trying to learn more about different tires including the ones I'm using. I also want to learn more about tire pressure for street riding. and is it different for track riding ?
I think mich pilots are to me really good vs price an stickyness you need for most street rides
michelin Power RS/GP all day long. they get up to temp a lot quicker than pirelli, last about 5000 miles with 6-8 track days in that period. the last 500 miles or so they do get slick and a little unpredictable.
Pirelli supercorsa SCs are the way to go, and they are ok in the wet despite what some say
Can anyone please tell me the name of the bike in the stock footage at 10:50 ?
It looks extremely similar to my YZF R125 but it's definitely not a R125 I think I'm going insane
continental tires name rang in both car and bike world they just solid
Hey Yammie - why do some front tires tread look different to the back tire. Like reversed pattern - seems it would channel water into the middle of the tire on the front of some brands.
Sport attack 4’s are incredible on my S1K
