    That’s just wild the car can’t go over 149mph when they advertised a 151 trap speed for the car. Pretty much this car will never run the time they said it will run on the drag strip without being modded

      I’ve been wanting the 170 since I saw it in Vegas a 11 months ago. But couldn’t find one dealership out of 1020 that didn’t want a 100k to 300k over . Now I find out the 170 only goes 149 that any scat pack could smoke on the street 😮. So my thought is once you finally achieve your goal on the dragstrip what then now you have to modify the car to go faster and lose your warranty I think we all got bamboozled when the car was supposed to go to 215 mph . I shouldn’t have passed up on my jailbreak. Now you can’t even find one of those ,got screwed all the way around. Just my opinion.

    Seriously, this is what bothers you about the car. It's an amazing car. It was not intended for stuff like the Texas Mile. It's a drag car.
    This is apparently the new big topic for all the You Tubers . LOL
    It's absolutely worth every penny. Who the hell needs to go 200 miles an hour, I prefer the bottom end power. Not top speed.
    I will. agree, if Dodge did put that 215 number out there. Then maybe it needs some explaining, but I never cared at all about top. speed when I purchased mine.

    • @GuysTalkingCars
      @GuysTalkingCars  Před 5 měsíci +3

      Totally fair! I think what bothers us is the published top speed of 215 and no disclaimers about governance. More transparency would be nice. Otherwise, a badass car!

      Agree, maybe an explination would help. Honestly , I never even seen a top speed release about the car, or cared. I just saw all the other claims they made. And they are all pretty bang on. I just find it funny, that anyone would even buy this to do 200 plus miles an hour. I would buy a redeye like others have said. Or maybe in the future, people will mod this car and then do the high speed runs. Could be the 215 was a marketing release then the lawyers pulled back on it because of tires and other modifications that were done to the car by Dodge. It was modified alot because of reliably issues which ended up in a late release.

    The 149 mph speed limit is for drag racing. Per NHRA rules any car running less than 9.0 sec needs a roll cage, HANS device, racing harnesses, and fire suppression. Remember the 8.95 they ran to be the quickest production car in the 1/4 mile? Yeah, you do that and you will be kicked out and possibly banned from every NHRA track in the US.

    Sustained runs at high speed are not good for any car. Quarter mile runs the 170s can be consistent. That power running for extended time someone can do and will eventually, Obviously has enough power to do it, just not on Dodges dime. All speeds for every challenger and charger are available and easy to find, so no crying

    I blame Stellantis, not Dodge. They need to break away.
    I have a 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T. Built in December of 2020, before Stellantis took the reigns. Why anyone would even buy these models in 2022-23, is beyond me. They are finished as a automaker with electrification and the cars being discontinued.
    It’s sad. They have to many V8’s and could have kept one. I don’t like there roadmap at all for the future.

    Exactly why I wouldn't buy these cars now unless I was a collector. If your chasing power your gonna spend for it, I have 2014-2015 R/T Plus Anniversary edition, I bought for 28k with 9000 miles on it in 2016 it has 85000 miles on it now. I won't be buying new Mopar anytime soon, I might only update some stuff like Cold Intake and Muffler etc. Some light adds to keep it up to date.

    Lethal performance just ordered a warrantied Whipple kit from Ford for their 2024 Mustang GT. With headers and pump gas it put down 807rwhp. 920 at the crank. That's more than the 170 makes on pump gas. It was only using 11- 12psi which is half what the demon 170 uses to make the same power. They're expecting to get high 8's with the full interior and a drag pack with slicks. The coyote is a monster for boost. The Demon 170 is way too much money

My Chevy Silverado for example it's great for off-roading and light towing I wouldn't take a 3/4 ton one ton truck off-roading there's a lot of people doing that they're dumb as rocks it wasn't designed for that it was desiring to pull heavier loads medium duty truck

    A speed limiter is nothing new. Chevy and Pontiac put them on their cars in the 90’s which had S rated tires. I hit that limiter many times (about 90 mph) and didn’t care because the contest was already over.
