- Optimism Media Group (OMG) followed Re/Max World Long Drive champ Jamie Sadlowski and CBS Golf commentator Gary McCord as they put on an exhibition for several hundred fans at The Country Club of the Rockies in Vail, CO. Jamie amazed the crowd by launching his ball with a putter an incredible 280 yards and crushing consistent drives of 400+ yards. This feature appeared originally on Golf.com and as part of Golf Magazine's Power Package.

Long drive is a fun event in itself. Well done to Jamie and those like him who can smash it. I would like to be able to do it!!! I was impressed with the short driver shot.
Amazing 29" driver distance.
It's crazy how it carried 360
Putter 300!!!??? I can't believe that.
That is fantastico, amazing and awesoooome...!
I followed Luke List around at the LA OPEN and his speed is about 125mph. Even if I could swing that fast, I'd break my back. On television you cannot appreciate the violence that is being created at the moment of impact. And this kid is swinging 20+ miles than Luke List. Thanks for posting, this is a treat.
he just hit the putter 300 yards? am I the only one to acknowledge that?!
Nice this is at CCR right? Love that track. Best bunkers I have ever played!
Most impressed by the fact that he carried his 29 inch driver 370
I want him in my next four man scramble!!
Love that Gary McCord. We need him back on tv! Best personality, funniest guy in golf.
He's a character, and he's perfect for emceeing and what not, but the guy is a prized fuckwit irl. He's a loudmouthed know it all who's said some of the dumbest shit I've ever heard over the years. Such as...Ben Hogan had absolutely no idea what he was doing in his own swing, he just paid a knowledgeable guy to come and ghost write his books lol.
6 iron 260 thats nutz!!!
Mike Boatright you know what... ur nutz
I grew up in the same area as Jamie and played against him throughout highschool, in many scrambles and also at the last 2 RE/MAX. Watching his videos don't do any justice to the mans swing. It is absolutely one of the most unbelievable things I've ever witnessed. I crush a ball and in many cases can match his distance, but nowhere near his consistency over 400. I average 360-400, but that's with an actual "long drive swing" which is a different stance and the ball is way further up than usual
@drakey27 yeah yer right. And the splash at 2:30 they say 415 but its in front of the 400 yd marker
Boom goes the Dynamite!
he made the cut in a nationwide tour event... the guy can play
300 yards with a putter...
keep in mind the downhill range but its still unreal what he can do
I love all these long drive videos, if the guy doesn't look like he hits it that far people say I can hit it farther. If they know they can't hit it as far as the guy, they say I bet he can't putt. He competes in LONG DRIVE competitions, it's not his job to putt.
Notice that driving range was raised up. That adds 30-50 yards of distance on the fly.
why hes not on the tour ???
Im 6’2 260 and drive it about 1 yard per pound……this kids club speed and ball speed are amazing!
Also, since I forgot to respond to it.
His swing does look much more mechanically sound than the rest of the long drive guys. He doesn't fall all over the place when he finishes his swing or lose tempo or balance because of momentum. I do agree with you that if he really focused, he'd probably be able to actually be PGA level with golf.
I'm also curious what he can do out of the rough/etc when he hits.
thats cool =]
I have talked to people that know him and from what I understand he is a pretty good golfer, just because he isn't good enough to play on the PGA tour doesn't mean he isn't good at golf, the dude is insane, he can hit a golf ball left handed almost as far as he can right handed. But the day someone with the skills of long driver becomes a legit pro golfer is the day announcers quit having orgasms when Dustin Johnson or Bubba Waston hit a one 340.
ALSO ONE OF THE GREAT GUYS IN GOLF.
yeah, that comment would be useful for most long drive hitters, but this guy has a +handicap and is flipping good :)
Anybody notice that the putter doesn't show up at 3:15? It's moving so fast that the camera isn't actually able to pick it up.
I just met him :)
The shot at 2:10 is the same as the one with the 29" driver. Look at the cars on the road behind the green before the ball splashes. Also look at the guy in the blue shirt. Its exactly the same!
jamie is hands down a beast. I'm sure this has been said already but i really wish the people who put the video together realized what jamie was doing while gary was talking. for example, a 20 degree utility club is not a 3 wood. Also, any of the drives that they say he's using his "little driver" he's using his LD driver (white shafted). I'm not trying to down play Jamie at all, he can do all of that and hit it miles, I just wish they had edited the clip better
@414pwz of course it did. a putter is much heavier than a six iron. at his speeds, catching a putter pure will produce, well... 300 yard drives.
Putter - 300 yards WOW
Imagine him using the Happy Gilmore swing!!! O___o
BOOM
@drakey27 lol wow good idea, yeah thats quite the good bit of editing right there, I mean come on hitting a 29" club the same distance as your 56+" competition driver? That seemed way too suspicious to me too, good eye man.
On the green in 1 and 4 putt for Bogey
fckn bosslike, 300yrds with a putter..... I must be doing something horribly wrong haha
wow man 3 wood 300+ yards
How far could he hit a plastic hollow practice ball ?
Only a CANADIAN could be this beastly talented and athletic :)
Probably that they freeze up under pressure. Think about the weirdness Kevin Na had going on last year on the Tour. I've had trouble late in matches teeing the ball up when the adrenaline really starts pumping. Hands start shaking like crazy.
Yep. Sure did, back in 2011 for sure. I'm not sure if there have been a few others for him since. No matter what, I'm sure he's doing all right for himself, of course. : )
In response to your comment about John Daly, "A blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile." Im a big JD fan and I have to say, this kid has talent. He obviously isn't some hack who can just hit the ball far. Most of the guys who do this professionally, like Jason Zuback, are nearly pros. I remember a TV show on ESPN about Zuback saying he is scratch. I'm sure this kid is too by the looks of his swing.
I'm sure he isn't just entertainment for the "hicks."
It helps that he did it in Vail above 8,000 ft.
regardless if whether or not this vid is questionable, one thing is for sure......the guy can bomb em.
Was that a Scotty
300 yard putter!?
Maurice Allen is 5’8”
Absolutely phenomenal. Shame his short game isn’t as spectacular, otherwise he’d dominate
BALLS
BALLS
BALLS
Pretty close to the hole for a 300 yard putt. The most you can really hope for is a three putt there, maybe even a two putt.
Incredible 300 foot putter drive😅😨
+Steve Mwaniki 300 yards
@bobmaskersen hahahaha "And he made a cut on the Nationwide Tour." Wow making one cut is a big deal i guess, AND it was on the Nationwide Tour! OMG he's a legend!
@drakey27 That's interesting. It does look like the exact same spot...hmmm???
They're different splashes, location on camera frame is different.
300 with a putter?!!!
218 mph ball speed is no joke.
I can only imagine what it would be like to hit a wedge in on every par 5 on the PGA tour. It'd be pretty funny.
Jamie is good to start with b/c he has qualified for a Nationwide tour event, which most long drivers can't. In that event he finished 1st in driving distance, 1st in bogeys, and terrible in short game stats. His avg. driving distance was
I just dont understand how he can hit it so consistent and so long
He's got exceptional hand-eye coordination and very fast hips. Plus, with that long swing, it all amounts to lots of speed. And he still hits it on the sweet spot.
What a blow
in a way, you're right. many of these long hitters cant play actual golf well. but jamie carrys a +3 handicap and actually has a lot of Hogan-esque techniques in his swing that make it mechanically sound. he has competed in several nationwide tour events and could probably make it on the PGA if he wanted to. So yeah, do your homework before you judge someone bud.
Well actually and at 2:11 you see the ball splash in the water lol
@TheCrazyBrainz sick story bra!!!!!!
I agree he is very talented and being able to hit the ball a long way is a huge advantage, but for him to make as a pro which from what i have read he wants to do he is going to need to be playing off a handicap of at least +5 and he is around scratch to +1 at the moment which is great but in the shark pool that is the PGA/European Tour scratch to +1 ain't gonna cut it, but good luck to him and i hope he can make a name for him self
edmonton!
I did that with my putter and the head went further than the ball. Lucky I didn't kill someone.
@drakey27 i dont think the signs are correct ..like he moved up to the putting green so he's moved up yards the signs arnt correct
@blackkow87
Me too.
@shadoewlkr No....It's an albatross
Chirp all you like, this guy "Drives for Dough", $250 000 for 2009 remax championship, $150 000 for 2010 championship + endorsements and shows like this. I wish I could make my living this way.
a 300 yard putter?
@BDawg1299 distance doesn't always mean better. consistency, thats his biggest problem. he does have a lot of control for someone who is a long driver but not enough to be a tour player. plus putting is the great equalizer of the game (well that and of course short game). i've never seen him putt for real or watched any of his short game but my assumption would be they are not that great compared to the average tour player. but hey that's just my two cents.
There's mp way he hit that 29" driver 400 yards.. That's 400 yard carry. They must have meant 300.
it is vail colorado. balls go really far. someone with 100mph ss can hit about 285-300
massive downhill by the looks of it
@drakey27 It is the same, look at the cars on the road behind the green before the ball splashes. Also look at the guy in the blue shirt. Its exactly the same!
that must be a big parking lot you're practicing in. . . .
0:40 John Daly has also won the USPGA and British Open Titles, where as this guy and others like him just hit the ball a long way, which might impress the hicks at the driving range, but in reality if he was any good he would be on the tour instead of doing demos with his Krank driver and pool cue shaft, because as the old saying goes "Drive For Show Putt For Dough" and i know which one i would rather be great at.
I'd like to have the distance he hits his hybrid using my driver...
dat putt
29" driver 405 yards WTF!!
@blackkow87 Im 8 , and when i hit the ball the world slows down just a little bit...
Keep in mind also that in a long driving contest, it's only one of out of 5 or one of out of 6 drives that has to qualify by going remotely straight on a very broad field. That doesn't cut it on a course like Merion, Augusta, etc., where you get one chance off each tee.
THAT Is BEEAAT! lol
a putter 300yds?!?!?! WTF??!?!?!
Back when Jamie sadlowski was vursing Miller in 2010 Jaime hit the first ball 414 yards
old guy jizzed @ 0:03
@dschultz6072 I know a guy who can get a genuine 170 yards out of his 56* wedge. Guy is tall, very strong. I think his carry on a 20 * hybrid is in the 280 range. Freaks of nature do exist.
Did he just hit his putter longer than his 6 iron...
at :53 they show the computer screen... I see 194 mph not 218. Maybe he did 218 ONCE
its an adams driver actually
jamie is amazing but i have serious difficulty believing that 29" driver goes 405 yards...
Anyone notice that Jamie looks just like Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) from The Walking Dead? "CORAL !!"
@Gyro911 if he gets home in 1 on a par 5 and makes the putt thats a double eagle.
Post a video then.
splash at 2:10 is the same as 3:00 unless my eyes are tricking me...
haha, it is too!. Even the same truck goes by..
Why do people get mad because this kid hits the ball 400 yards? He isn't trying to play in the GMO or the USOpen.... His nitch is the long drive comp's... And I find it crazy who flexible and the amount of speed he can generate.. Would he love to put on a Green jacket, or take home the crystal... I would say yes... but he, like every other person doesn't have that talent.. But even those how have won majors, and multiple times on the tours can't do what he does..
Exactly. I understand what you're getting at. Sadlowski is nowhere close to being 150th in scrambling and probably never could be even if he truly dedicated himself to it. Not to mention that his greatest asset - driving distance - doesn't mean that he can hit any club nearly as straight as tour players do. 150th in anything on tour is insanely good. For example, Tiger Woods is 1st on tour this year in scoring at a 68.99 average. The 150th ranked player has a 71.6 average.
he should just hit a 4 iron off the tee and he would be at the same distance as other pros and should be some what accurate
He doesnt use a krank driver, he uses an adams golf one
yeah he putts the ball 300 yds and hitsa wedge 175 and you hit a driver 150 yards
pretty absurd. I average around 275 and I try to swing out of my shoes every time. longest of my life was 330, and I've never come anywhere close to that since. his swing speed is absolutely ridiculous
