    she is 6'2 and incredibly athletic. but david leadbetter pos ruined her swing. she had so much potential. her swing does not look good here. it looks restricted, instead of being wide, she looks cramped. she could have been so much better. I don't know why her parents made her stay with that leadbetter tra=sh for so long.

    Just one suggestion from my history of failures. While dragging the left shoulder behind the ball if you don't bend your right elbow you will tilt your spine in the wrong direction and mess everything up.

    As an additional comment, Sam Snead and Jack Nicklaus would put it past anyone playing now with today's equipment. Nicklaus said Amateurs were fascinated that he could hit a ball as far as he could without being bigger than many of them. Jack said that it was because it became second nature for him from an early age to FULLY COIL. And when I say fully coil, I mean fully coil!Jacks left knee would almost be hitting his right knee on the backswing. His left heel almost completely off the ground. Sam Snead, despite being arguably the greatest athlete ever to play golf, lifted his heel in coiling up in his swing. This gave him an even more ridiculous range of motion than his vast physical gifts already granted him. These men knew how to leverage a golf club better than anyone else. And how to hit it further as well.

  • @donaldschmidt2990
    @donaldschmidt2990 Před 11 měsíci

    The legendary Sam Snead said that the knee is braced on the backwing. Not locked!! To demonstrate this, he very comically started walking around like The Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. Nothing Snead or any other great player did was rigid or forced. There is NO ONE now that swings the club as beautifully as Hogan and Snead. The secret to a true Modern Swing lies in the past.

    I used to follow Watson at the Memorial back in the day. He is one of the guys who, when he hit his driver, it just made a different sound. This was when most players were still using persimmon headed driver (mid/late eighties). He would hit these medium height bullet draws and it sounded like a "soft cannon" going off (best way I can describe it). Just so pure and solid with the prettiest ball flight you can imagine. such an underrated "ball striker."

    The reason a strong lead hand grip works better - if used with a proper Vardon overlap / Nicklaus interlaced style grip where pad of trail thumb is up high over the lead one- is how the placement of the trail hand up over the top forces the trail wrist into maximum extension very quickly in the backswing which then forces the trail arm to fold elbow down. That wrist back/elbow down geometry creates very efficient leverage which allows the trail arm to control the lead one which bears the force of the swinging club which increases exponentially as club head speed increases. The action of the trail arm in the golf swing is similar to that of a food server lifting a tray over the shoulder-using leverage not arm strength. A grip in which the trail hand is supinated (palm up baseball grip) or pronated (palm downward) but too low on the lead thumb will not create the ideal wrist hinge /arm fold action.

    Great advice, thank you Michelle. These tips really get the lower body involved and simplify the swing for more consistency. Senior circuit is a long way off so at 33 years young you could for sure win a few more majors. Still remember her as a teenager hitting bombs & just missing men's PGA Tour cuts by a single shot. Don't waste that God given talent. If you still love it do it. If not the golfing world will sorely miss one of the greatest golfing attractions in the history of the game. 😢

    The restricted hip turn is a debunked method at this point. For some reason it became popular with the X swing. Let those hips turn. I also think most golfers will be better off with a shorter swing rather than reaching for the sky.

  • @guitar1950

    I came here to confirm what I remembered Chamblee saying about straightening the right leg in the back swing. Recently, Adam Porzak, a golf instructor, posted a video with one of his students teaching the student to maintain the flex in his right leg. Interesting that Chamblee showed Hogan as an example. But in the picture of Hogan, he was at impact, not into his back swing. Also, when Chamblee actually swings the club, not demonstrating his points, he maintains all the flex in his right knee. See the video at 2:50. As usual, golf instructors who are selling a book or DVDs harp on points that will confuse and ruin golfers. Check out these instructors and don't be fooled by snake oil salesmen. Porzak golf, Mile Lines, Eric Cogorno.

    • @garrymajor7528
      @garrymajor7528 Před rokem

      I don’t think Ernie thinks about his hips just like Mac Ogrady the downswing is controlled only with the shoulders not the hips add in the box as Ernie calls it and the swing will finish up on the right toe just from momentum.

    • @akikononen
      @akikononen Před rokem

      Jeez stop complicating things. If you think about hips you got a lot of problems with your swing and my guess is hips isn't what's causing any of them.

    • @acheamwake4287
      @acheamwake4287 Před měsícem

      Think hips and you will come over the top. The hips are followers, not leaders in the downswing. Pull down towards the ball with the back of the lead hand and club will drop into the slot as Ernie teaches. If done correctly, the hip turn will take care of itself.

    Ernie and Fred have the smoothest swings in my opinion. Thing I noticed about both of them is they have less head movement than any golfers I've ever seen which must be why their swings have that smooth appearance.

  • @kevinshoemaker5466
    @kevinshoemaker5466 Před rokem

    This looks like Freddie Couples swing technique. Does this action create more momentum at the point of release because the club head is working in a continuous motion?

    • @kevinshoemaker5466
      @kevinshoemaker5466 Před rokem

      The club head itself is turned slightly in front of the shaft (toe down) . Lot's of great golfers get hands behind the shaft to promote draw, but keep the clubhead itself turned square ( toedown) in the swing circle. When you add the hip turn the club stays on plane. Great drill, even if you are not an over the topper to promote a draw.
