- Toei Animation had no reason to go this hard. Seriously, what are they feeding their animators? This movie has one of the coolest fight scenes that I have seen in a long time. It mirrors to the audience through its pacing, style, and length the journey that Broly goes on, as he gains power and loses control. The more Insane that Broly gets, the more powerful he becomes.

This movie totally blew my mind the first time I saw it, I was and still am amazed by what can be achieved by animation
Yeah, me too! They definitely went all out for this film. Thank you for watching!
Dragon ball definitely has some of the best angry men screaming detail
Bahaha, it is the king of angry men screaming, for sure! 😂
5:31 I got chills, maaaaan😳
Hehehe! 😈 I've wanted to use a DOOM song in a video for so long, I thought this was the perfect time, lol.
It is perfect 😈
Thanks! 😁
Duuuude. I'm glad you've covered this.
Yeah! As soon as I saw it, I had to make a video about it. 😂 Thanks for watching!
Videos like these are why I first fell in love with your content creation style: in-depth analysis of really cool things that most viewers miss? Sign me up! I do love this video, too, and the points you made about the first person view out of Broly's eyes, as well as the fact that when he goes LSS, his eyes are just pupil-less, really made me further appreciate this movie! The use of The Only Thing They Fear is You was both cool and made me wonder if you used it because the title could also well apply to Broly: something far and away outside of normal life's standards, and an object for fear because of it, just like the Doom Slayer. The line at the end, about DB being constantly be about pushing past your limits made me wonder if you'd seen Black Clover, as that's a crucial theme of that manga/anime. Anyway, thanks for the great video, as per usual, and I hope you have a great rest of your evening, my friend!
Thank you, Henry! You always leave the nicest comments. 😊 I've wanted to use a DOOM song for a while now, and this one definitely felt like it fit Broly perfectly. It's just so brutal that I thought it matched his character and the moment really well. I think the fear aspect that you described definitely applies to him and his relationship with the other characters as well, though! And I haven't seen Black Clover, but I'm definitely interested in watching it if "going beyond" is a theme of the show, haha! Thank you so much for watching, and for the kind words! I hope you have a great rest of your night as well.
@@DrewMalou You're most welcome, and thanks for reading and responding to my consistently long messages haha! Oh, I totally agree about this song perfectly fitting Broly! Brutal is an apt way to describe it, that's for sure! Thanks, I'm glad my idea made sense! Oh yes, that's core part of the show, especially for the magicless protagonist, Asta, who has to "push past [his] limits" (as the English dub phrases the original line "surpass your limits", and I tend to like the former more than the latter since I have only watched Black Clover in English) to keep up with the rest of the magic-empowered world. Once more, my pleasure, and thanks again for replying to me! Have a great rest of your day!
Haha, it's my pleasure reading your messages! Thank you for taking the time to write out such detailed comments, they always put a smile on my face. And that definitely sounds like something I would be interested in! The whole theme of "going beyond" makes total sense if the main character is magic-less in a world filled with magic users. I will have to check it out for sure. Thanks for giving me a quick rundown of the show! And that's interesting about the English Dub. Do you prefer to watch most shows in English, or is it just Black Clover specifically?
@@DrewMalou Haha thanks, I'm glad to hear it! Yeah, the theme really works with the main character's relationship to the world! I also didn't want to give you too detailed of a rundown, as I didn't want to spoil the show if you indeed decide to watch it! There are a few show, like Dragon Ball (I'll definitely see Super Hero in English when it comes out next Friday), that I watched the English dub first on Adult Swim's Toonami and that's what I prefer, but I'd say I generally prefer the Japanese dub, since that's the original language, and I feel that there can sometimes be nuances that don't carry over as well into the English dub. With Black Clover, that's where I started, and as much as I wanted to watch the sub, I resisted, as I wanted to remain loyal to the English dub haha! I've heard that the English dub is more preferable for viewers, as the main character's VA screams most of his lines at the beginning of the show (which fits the character) in the original Japanese version, but people seemed to find it insufferable when the show began. It got better over time, but I didn't find the dub to have that problem with Asta, the MC, although that might have just been me being enthralled with the way the first episode ends, and the questions it raises and story it sets up, to not really think about anything else haha!
I appreciate you not spoiling anything with your rundown of the show! And I know what you mean about the English and Japanese voice actors. I too prefer the original Japanese delivery... there is a lot of nuance and inflection that I feel like gets lost in translation, but there are a few shows that have pretty great dubs. I think Dragon Ball is one of those franchises. I got my start with anime on Toonami as well, haha! And, having a main character scream out lines sounds very Shonen, lol, but I'm definitely intrigued. Pretty sure there are over 150 episodes, though, so it might take me a while! 😂
It would have been cool to see broly in the tournament arc. They had a slot open
That would have been so sick, you're right!
This was the movie that brought me back to dbz briefly and feels like one of the best the series has to offer
Yeah, I definitely have to agree! This movie is phenomenal, and thank you for watching!
Ye an other beautiful video
Thank you! 😊
I'm surprised this video wasn't taken down by toei copyright claims lol
Yeah, it's been blocked in some territories, lol, but they let me keep it up. 😅
@@DrewMalou coincidentally I was making the broly vs gigeta fight when I cane across your video, I would appreciate it if you watched it and gave me your opinions 😀
Hey!! You NEED to cover Studio Stray Dog's Dragonball Z Legend!
Good idea! What about it would you like me to talk about?
@@DrewMalou Glad you're interested! Honestly, I'd definitely showcase the previous works by Studio Stray Dogs, and compare their story to the original canon of Dragon Ball. You could in turn, shine light on the history of fan animated projects, and why they're important. That and, the various techniques used throughout the animation. Honestly, I don't think I could word it better than you. Your videos are great, and your writing is structured. I find it difficult to voice myself without getting sidetracked, and writing tends to help with that. Although, I can absolutely talk practically forever about something I'm passionate about.
Now that I think about it, perhaps you could reach out to Studio Stray Dogs, and have an little interview, or at least get some e-mails going, about your video, and find out what it was like for them the FOUR YEARS it took them.
I love that you added a Bible verse, it's inspiring and it's good to read so that we could understand ourselves so we could improve and change for the better! God bless you ❤😅
I'm glad that you enjoyed the Bible verse, and you're absolutely right! Thanks for watching, and God bless you as well. :D
Great video man!
Thank you so much! 👍
Not sure if you've been beaten over the head with this, but have you ever considered covering Made in Abyss? Has beautiful animation, design and environments, standout story and characters and a unique soundtrack.
second this ^^
I have seen Made in Abyss, but I believe there are like two or three movies that continue the story that I haven't seen yet... But yes! I would love to cover that show. It is definitely unique! Thank you for the recommendation! 😊
Haha, well now I'm definitely going to have to do it. 😆 Gotta give the people what they want!
@@DrewMalou There are three movies. The first two movies just recap the series so you don't need to watch those.
The third movie Dawn of the Deep Soul is a sequel to S1, and then S2 which is sequel to Dawn of the Deep Soul is airing at the moment. S2 will be finished airing in about two months if you want to wait for that to finish to binge it all at once.
I would definitely look forward to what you can pick apart. I think Made in Abyss will give you no shortage of talking points.
Ahhhh, thanks for the breakdown! That helps quite a bit. And yeah, from the little I've seen, there will definitely be a lot to discuss! I remember enjoying the show, so I'll have to go back and refresh my memory to see what angle to take with the video. 😄
You weren't kidding when you said it wasn't gonna take long for the next one and oh boy was the wait worth every minute!!! DBS Broly is one of my favorite animated films to date and I'm so happy you covered it!
Yeah!! I'm always happy when I cover something people really like. To me, that makes it way more special. Thank you so much for the kind words, and for watching!
@@DrewMalou Hell yeah! Can't wait for the next one >:)
Awesome! I'm looking forward to sharing it! 😁
@@DrewMalou :D
I lost track of DBZ 2016/2017 so I have no idea what super sayen god is(looks like the power scale has gotten out of control),but seeing this fight breakdown kind of reminded me of why I watched DBZ,the moment to moment fighting, the pushing yourself beyond the limit(even if it feels contrived) and the fight animation seems to have been pushed even further.I have heard much about broly in thhe greater DBZ lore, but since I am out of the loop since goku was fighting some purple cat egypttion attire wearing god in a gladiator battle(really out of the loop). the broly fight has been on my radar for a while but was unsure which movie/series he was canonically in ,as about 80% of my encounter with broly was through unsolicited R34 art and the rest was fan animations/fmvs of the fight .Looks like something worth giving a shot even if I am to burned out to catch up too DBZ,looks worth watching for the fight alone. Great breakdown
Yeah, the power scaling in the show definitely gets out of wack. And Beerus (Egyptian Cat God) shows up in Dragon Ball Super pretty early on. The funny thing is, Broly isn't really in Super. He's mostly confined to this movie. I would highly recommend checking out the full fight if you are able to! There was tons of stuff that I couldn't show, and you probably saw only about 25% of the fight, haha. Thank you for watching!
I was about to respond back to you on the previous video that “I prefer quality to quantity” when you mentioned how long it’s been since your last video. Well now I can say you’ve got both because this was also a hell of a watch. For awhile now DBZ has been relegated in my mind to “nostalgia anime”. We grew up with it and it deserves praise, but the pacing and storytelling don’t really fit with modern expectations. This movie seems to blow that idea out of the water. Your video may have just convinced me to give DBZ a chance after nearly a decade of not taking it seriously.
On a side note have you seen Legend, the fan made DBZ animation? Definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it already
Yes! Legend was awesome! I have seen it. I'm using some aspects of it to discuss the topic of my next video, actually. 😄 And thank you for the kind words! I'm glad I convinced you to give DBZ a chance. There is definitely a lot of material to explore in that universe. And I know what you mean about it being "nostalgic", I definitely feel that way too. Hopefully you will enjoy it!
The Super Broly Movie felt like such a huge event.
Yeah, it definitely did. They went so hard on the animation. Thanks for watching!
Great video
Thank you, I appreciate that. Thanks for watching! 😄
in the old broly movies he was also being controlled. i don't appreciate the early part of this video for that reason alone
Yeah, that's fair. I should have done more thorough research! Thanks for watching anyway.
