    What are the main differences between the mega death and mega merc? (I appreciate it's directional vs twin & slightly different camber profile)
    But which is more aggressive, speed, pop, damp etc?

    • @rowdypowripper
      @rowdypowripper Před 8 měsíci

      Megan death is the MEGA version of the BSOD. So that being said the Mega death is going to be the more aggressive board. Speed, pop and dampness should be pretty similar.

      There's some overlap. All mountain freestyle you go Mega Merc, more groomer carving and a high end ride Mega Death.

    Looking at a couple of stiff twinish freeride boards, Mega Merc, Jones UMT, Juggernaut, maybe even BSOD. For refrence I have an aviator 2 thats way too soft in the nose and folds on landings, and a UMT that I loved but snapped landing into a bomb hole. I can get shop rate on every brand except Jones (fuck vail) so what are my options?

    Shelled out the cash and bought a Mega this year. Trying to decide between the Union Atlas Pro or the Bent Metal solution for a binding. Looking for something super stiff and responsive to charge hard through pow and cliffs. Also will be riding in some banked slalom comp with this board/ binding settup. Unions are made in china, Bent metal in Washington so if they were a tie I would go with Bent Metals.

    Have difficulties to decide between this one or the Black Snowboard of Death, mainly because I was never really invested in the "gear side" of snowboarding. The way I understand, the Mega Merc is right in between the BSOD and the regular Mercury in terms of ride feel, strengths and weaknesses? I have been riding a 2013 Bruton Antler until that old thing got stolen last year for some reason, which now presents a good time for a well needed upgrade. I mostly ride groomers with the occasional side jumps, ollies and even less so butter tricks. Im only rarely in the park but absolutely have to take every powder opportunity that presents itself. From the marketing texts and reviews both the mega merc and the BSOD seem to fit my riding style rather well, which is why I just cannot decide. Any help would be appreciated

    Hey Angry, I had a 21-22 Mercury and loved its bombing and carving ability but when not laying it over I found the turn initiation to be quite sluggish. Does the Mega Merc have the same feel? Are there other twin/directional twin boards that are damp and good for bombing, carving, side hits, and tearing up the mountain but also better turn initiation to be able slow it down and navigate around slow skier families?

    Hi! I am looking for advice regarding size of the Mega Mercury (155 or 157). I currently ride on a Amplid Paradigma (2010) 159. I mainly ride on groomers, carving and some jups/side hits. Sometimes powder but not often in park. I am 6" tall, weigh 170-175 LBS and have shoe size US 9. I am leaning towards the 155 due to my shoe size but do you think that I will have enough stability on higher speeds and length for carving as I come from a 159 board (flex 6, directional twin, camrocker and waist widt 250mm)? On the other side the 157 might be wide and feel to big. Thank you in advance for your advice! Kind regards, Sander

    Merc or Mega Merc?
    I only ride two weeks a year since I don’t live near a mountain. I am looking to replace my T.Rice Pro 2016. I mostly carve on groomers, but I the weather allows it I will be chasing pow. I want a board the can take my carving skills to the next lvl and where I can improve my switch and Jump/spin skills. I can ride switch but it is not pretty. I am still working to stomp the 360 on a medium jump. But I basically want I board where I can make both quick and long carving turns and FAST. That can ride switch, it does not need to be a perfect board for switch. Where I can jump off anything and make progress in getting more comfortable at bigger jumps and improve my spinning.
    I have narrowed it down to the MERC and MM I just don’t know which one is best for and though you maybe had some input that could help me decide.
    Best regards
    Peter

    I have had this board for a while (black/yellow, previous year model, 159). 5’10, 175+ lbs, size 9W boots, Union Falcors.
    I love almost everything about it, but am looking for a 2nd board better for the deeper powder days (Wasatch Mts etc) while not compromising performance on steeper/technical terrain too much. I have been considering the Korua Dart, Korua Dart Plus, BSOD, Jones Storm Chaser, Ultra Flagship, etc.
    What 2nd freeride, more powder-capable board would you recommend pairing with my Mega Merc?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  Před měsícem +1

      Why not just get a real powder board. Out of what you have listed the only one that stands out is the Storm Chaser and that's probably too far into the powder spectrum than you want to go so I'd say go to the Storm Wolf instead.

    Trying to decide between this, the Super DOA and Never Summer Proto Ultra - I'm an advanced to expert level rider. I ride in the Tahoe area and looking for a everyday resort killer. Ripping groomers, side hits, boosting off of rollers, trees the day or 2 after a storm. I like butter but no crazy flat land tricks. I will definetly be riding park mostly jump lines small to large, boxes and maybe a few rails. I have a dedicated board for deep days so performance in that type of condition isn't a huge concern. Rode a Custom flying V last year and want something a little more confidence inspiring when really pushing. I'm 5'11" 180/185lbs and size 10 boot. Thinking 156 in the Super DOA, in the mega I'm not sure if the 155 or 157 would be the better choice. Would love to get your opinion. Thanks!

    I’ve got the regular mercury 160w from last years and i really love it but i want something with more pop and little bit more stiff for all mnt freestyle/ freeride-powder . So should i go with the mega merc or the mega death?
    I will keep my reg merc for park riding
    - i’m 220lbs with 12 size boots
    Thanks for your review Avran

      Probably just want the Mega Merc, Mega Death seems like it might be overkill for you.

    I am getting the 160w, cannot wait. Am coming from a Yes Greats 159. Will be interesting to see what the difference in edge to edge speed is and really how different it will be to butter. I was looking for more speed, more dampness and float in powder but I still hope, I can pull off some of my favorite butter variations

    • @henryviz
      @henryviz Před 10 měsíci +1

      This isn’t to scare you because this board is probably one of the best boards on the market but this thing is not going to butter. It’ll only butter going fast as hell on a super steep slope and all of your weight over the tip. Then maybe, just maybe you’ll get it to press.

    • @V1NC3J
      @V1NC3J Před 10 měsíci +1

      I find the tips are softer on the Merc, just my opinion, it definitely is faster, damper and floats better but overall it's super light so feels like nothing underfeet. I've selling the greats keeping the Merc, the only thing I felt the greats did better was actually the edge hold.

    • @JohnnyEase
      @JohnnyEase Před 10 měsíci

      @@V1NC3J interesting, thanks. Yeah, that midbite of some Yes board really is quite something. And I'd argue the edge to edge speed of the Greats is a bit better too given its very narrow width. But then again, the Mega Merc has some aspects going for itself in that regard

    • @JohnnyEase
      @JohnnyEase Před 10 měsíci

      @@henryviz Thanks. In terms of butterability, there are many different perspectives out there. Some say, it butters even rather easily. Some say, it's very difficult. As I have been riding for 20+ years on many different boards, I am pretty sure I will pull off some butters - maybe I'll not be holding them as long as with my Greats. And even if that is not the case... it sure is a trade-off between playfulness and dampness/speed

    • @JohnnyEase
      @JohnnyEase Před 17 dny

      Update: I can butter it fine, also when going slow. It's a great board and I'm really happy about my choice. I can go very fast and it still feels damp and agile. Compared to the YES Greats it's more damp, faster and way better in pow. The Greats is more agile and noticeably easier to butter.

    Yo Angry. Scooped up last years orca for dirt cheap. I have a pair of last year’s malavitas and Rome DODs. I get you not an orca fan but between the two bindings what would you throw on the Orca

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Orca's a fine board, it's the cult around it I'm not a fan of. I'd slap the DOD's on it, give you a little more power out of a turn and less likely to crack your topsheet than the Malavitas.

    I ride last year's. This ride is a charger. The only time I've gone over the handlebars was on the last gate on a banked race that I was trying to shave some time on😂. Other than that, it took a second to get used to only having a camber in the middle, but that's just me.

    If you’re a advanced freestyle rider who wants to boost into outer space and then some. That wants a slightly (0.5cm) set back board. Get your $850 together and never look back. You’ll love this board.
    It’s fast, it’s light, death grip gives you a little bit better edge hold, there is 0 chatter in this thing. It’s the best thing on the market. But it’s not for the faint of heart. Simple as that.
