    1st story. not a jerk. I would have done THE EXACT SAME THING to them. I respect this lady.
    2nd story. not a jerk. Just the mere fact that the boyfriend didn't say a word to his mother in his girlfriend's defense who more than likely did nothing to her just shows that he encourages his mother's behavior. She's a smart one for backing out and breaking up with him because if he's doing that now, There's no way he'll ever come to her aid in any other instance.

      @@1mol831 Either way, she's right. The dad is a grown man and is able to make his own decisions whether it be the right or wrong one. The dad is well off and is able to buy his own home if need be. However, the reason i think the father made the wrong decision is quite linear. He's blinded by the fact that his new wife is his old highschool/college crush or w.e and the fact that he has 2 kids with her and no house for them. Now, had he put all 3 of the ladies in their place. Maybe they could have stayed with the OP longer albeit with a bit of attitude. But it would have been better than not having a home at all or having to go spend more money elsewhere. So, yes. Dumb decision on his end but as a man. He should live with it.

You do it because you have secrets that you need to hide. That woman needs to have a locksmith and an attorney go through that closet the next time she gets the chance.

Some people don't like their personal things being fucked around with by people who don't have permission snooping in them, but nevertheless, her hubby did some crazy shit and for him to blow up like that... He's got something to hide. The teaching lesson could be multiple lessons such as not invading personal space. In story 3, mom and I always check Dad's pockets because he never does. He often just let coins hurt the machine or leaves dirty tissues all over the place. We check to protect the machine. One time I did accidentally set down and forgot where I put a flash drive that did held important documents for his job. We had search the house but we found it. And as upset as he was we told him to leave his flash drives not in the pockets he just toss aside but in the drawer that is for his personal belongings. When he calm down he saw we had a point. I also pointed out I was checking his pockets because he washed a flash drive that he browed from me and forgot it in his pockets. That had my homework in it. I just didn't want the same mistake repeated twice. Op doing that is very natural and your husband is lying to on something serious and gaslighting you for it.

  • @shozetsku
    @shozetsku Před 2 lety +6

    in regards to story three, i had a good friend who had similar reactions to perceived privacy. we each rented a room in a third person's multi bedroom home and she would use a camera in her room to record if anyone went in there, and checked it daily. I only noticed it because she had two kittens and we had the back door open for several minutes and i was just trying to ensure that they were in the house or if i had to start calling for them in the neighborhood. I was up front with her about the incident, and thankfully, her kittens never left the house, but she admitted to being confused when she saw me enter her room multiple times.
    This behavior is explained by my friend's emotionally and verbally abusive mother, who regularly snooped through her things, stole property from her daughter and repeatedly lied about doing so, and manipulated her son and daughter to try and get them to move back in with her so they could take care of her and she could order them around and control their lives. Her mother repeatedly tried to get into locked closets that my friend installed hasp locks on, to which my friend has the video evidence of, and tricked her son into breaking into his sister's closets under the excuse of the locked doors being a fire hazard. Which is ironic as F*** because my friend LITERALLY works as a firefighter, knows the regulations, and repeatedly told her mother she was full of it, and NO she had no permission to access her grown daughter's closet contents even if they were in her own house. Finally, she had to buy a rolling security cage to keep some of her things in after the incident so her mother could SEE the things that her daughter was keeping, but had no access to them. She is currently attempting to amass enough money to get her own place where she can get her own things out of her mother's house, and finally cut contact with the woman.
    TL:DR, it might not have anything to do with the spouse. perhaps OP's husband repeatedly had to deal with a 'snooper' as he was growing up and now reacts strongly to triggers, even unintentional ones.

    3rd story, definately suspect for me. About 30 years ago, I was doing as she did, cleaning out my husbands pockets to do laundry as they were always loaded with stuff, and found a note from another woman, trying to end an affair he was having with her. We split up. Fast forward about 15 years and we reconnected and became friends again, living in different states, and eventually decided to reconcile. After he moved out here, I was doing the same thing, his laundry, cleaning out pockets that still were loaded down with stuff. This time, no note from a mistress. No, this time, I find out he had a CHILD with another woman he NEVER told me about. A child that was conceived AFTER we had reconciled, he just wasn't out here yet. So yeah, my personal experience says not a jerk. He's definately hiding something, even if it not an affair. If you are that determined to hide stuff from your spouse, especially for a prolonged time....... it's unlikely it's anything good.

    When I was a toddler, my mom and dad let my grandma (dad's side) live in the house for some time. She absolutely despised my mom and our dogs for no reason. So we had a few rules in the house we lived in at the time. So that the dogs wouldn't get out, either one of the garage doors had to be closed. This happened about a year of living there, we were having thanksgiving dinner I think (not sure) and she said she was going to the bathroom. After an eternity my mom gets up to look for her and finds her in the garage with both doors open. She calmly asks my grandma where the dogs are and her reply is "somewhere... I think they went outside" my house wasn't too far from the highway so obviously my mom panicked, I mean 3 small dogs are easy to run over. She starts yelling the dog's names and my whole family comes out to see what is happening. They see the doors and instantly know what's wrong. So they start looking, for hours and hours. They eventually found them. They hid in the neighbours backyard. My grandma got scolded and almost kicked out by my mom, since afterall it was *her* house. I have so many stories about my grandma, she's extremely entitled

      Sounds on a par with my grandmother (father's mother), who lived with my family when I was little, and who did her best to split my parents up with lies and manipulation, with me caught in the middle and frequently used as a weapon to needle my mum (by, for example, telling me things that weren't true or were hurtful, knowing that I'd then ask about them). The old witch thrived on causing drama, and she'd sit back and smirk as she watched the resulting fights, but my dad wouldn't kick her out because he considered it his duty to look after her. Even he was relieved when she finally died, but thanks to her, I've never quite seen grandparents in the positive way that other people have!

      @@stefanbosiljcic236 I disagree with your comment. Not 100% of it, just the betrayal part. While it's not really betrayal (which you and I both already know) she had a reason to cut ties with him. He attempted to defend his new family several times when they were clearly in the wrong. When you know someone did something wrong, especially disrespecting your child's deceased wife, then you immediately cut all ties with them and you leave them to bite the dust. Not only did they disrespect OP's mother, they also disrespected OP. I'm terrified I'll end up going through a similar situation, without the new family part. Imagine you brother dying from cancer, giving you his house and all his great stuff, making sure you had a roof above your head and money to help you live your life, and your parents' "new family" tried to destroy and undo all of that. Trashing the house, going through your shit, and worst of all, talking crap about your dead brother, mocking him. None of this happened to me, but I'm making a point. You don't associate yourself with bad people, you associate yourself with good people. If OP's dad wants to hang around with his new family, then he can go too since he wants to choose them over his flesh and blood. If OP's dad changed his mind and took OP's side instead, then it's pretty obvious her dad knew she wasn't fucking around. You don't turn your back on your own flesh and blood. My grandmother's father made that mistake, and she barely ever talks to him because of it. Ol' granddad was cool to me, but I found out the harsh truth myself, that he abandoned her like my parents did me. I could cut all ties with my bio mom and dad. My dad I already cut all ties with because of what he did to me, and the fact he didn't even bother calling me. My mother I'm quite unfortunate to be around because I despise her just as much, but have to be around her because my grandmother (my gramma is her mom) can't bring herself to let my bio mom go. I don't hate my mother because in my honest opinion she's better than my father and her sister. But I wish she listened to her grandmother before she got pregnant with me.
      tl:dr: OP has every right to cut ties with her dad, but he did change his mind and choose to take OP's side and not his new family's side so he earned respect from OP.

      I think the dad was unfair to her when he went and got married without telling her anything. He certainly didn't need his daughter's permission to have a new life, but the fact that she didn't know about it and wasn't even invited to the wedding shows a complete disregard for her as an existing part of his life. It seemed like other than living in her house, he only saw his daughter as part of the past and not part of his continuing life.

    Story 1: I feel sorry for the OP, her father forever destroyed his relationship with his child for people who clearly don't respect his child, and explicitly disrespect the dead mother/wife. OP's continued contact with him however is bad idea, he probably thinks this is just a hiccup in his relationship with his child...but if the father can side against OP here, then when will he back OP. Story 2: Yeah, that's the right move to not get on the plane, and since the boyfriend didn't see anything wrong with what his mother had done, then breaking up is inevitable, doing it publicly and shaming the mother is just a bonus. Story 3: Depending on the laws where OP lives, either hire a Private Investigator, or file directly for divorce. OP doesn't need that stress, and whatever trust might have existed was broken in that moment.
