Won’t lie I couldn’t tell what your top songs would be but hearing your number one is Live In Favor of Tomorrow is SUPER valid. How the song glides so smoothly, chugging along with beautiful melodies and potent lyrics, it’s definitely one of their best songs and since I discovered it I can’t stop looping it.

Also man, I'm really missing out by not listening to Go To School. I don't know why I've put it off so long! Gonna go on a full on deep dive tomorrow. Here's my top 10 after like 10 minutes of thinking about it, I'll probably disagree with it by the morning lol.

    3. I Wanna Prove To You
    4. No One Holds You (That synth solo bro)
    5. When Winter Comes Around

I literally got into this band the day Everything Harmony came out, and have been binging all of their stuff. So I am brand new Twiglet with a serious Everything Harmony bias for now. And apparently Michael is my guy but absolutely love and admire Brians work:
    1) In My Head
    2) Everything Harmony
    3) The Fire (the Kimmel Performance got it this high)
    4) Everyday Is the Worst Day of My Life (love the full band version)
    5) What You Were Doing
    6) Ghosts Run Free
    7) The One
    8) Still It's Not Enough
    9) I Don't Belong To Me
    10) Foolin Around

Haha cute video! My top 10:
    10. Wonderin’ Ways
    9. Any Time of Day
    8. Born Wrong/Heart Song
    7. Live in Favor of Tomorrow
    6. Never in My Arms, Always in My Heart
    5. Only a Fool
    4. Haroomata
    3. Somebody Loving You
    2. In My Head
    1. The One
I’m glad you guys like Go To School and Songs for the General Public. I feel like they’re super underrated. I’m still absorbing Everything Harmony like you guys said. I’m also still riding the high of the Everything Harmony singles and General Public album since that’s what Lemon Twigs played live when I saw them in Tucson recently. Their band is so talented and Michael and Brian have so much personality on stage. I got to meet them afterwards since it was a small venue and they’re both so small and adorable lol. So down to earth.
I feel like in a world that made sense, a band like Lemon Twigs would be celebrated rather than say Greta Van Fleet. Like you said Matt, each song has that feel that I’ve heard it somewhere, but in the best way. When I heard No One Holds You live for the first time without hearing studio version, I thought they were covering like an Elton John song or something. It’s amazing that they can write these songs and pull from their influences without sounding like, icky. It’s a true testament to their songwriting capabilities.

Great list! Never In My Arms, In My Head, and The One were just outside my 10.
Yes, they seem uncorrupted by their early fame. They’ve chosen an outsider’s genre that won’t have mainstream success anytime soon, which shows their genuine care for the craft. Their interviews highlight the songwriting-above-all mentality.

    Great video!
I could only make a top tier list, a single spots list would be too hard by now. It hurts too much after being gifted all these absolute classic tunes, like picking a favourite child. With that being said, I have to advocate for the very underappreciated masterpiece “New To Me”. One of the most heartbreakingly gorgeous songs I’ve ever heard for sure.
I just happen to love it when Brian goes full Broadway, which is why “Go To School” is probably their best album in my opinion. Not the most thought through concept album I’ve ever heard, but phenomenal as a collected body of highly qualitative work, especially considering that they were barely 20 when creating it. “The Lesson”, “The Bully” and “Wonderin’ Ways” are songs I also feel belong somewhere up there. Not to mention “Home of a Heart (The Woods)” and “If You Give Enough”. I’m crazy for Brian, I fear my top 15 or so would be Brian songs only. Love Michael too, though, of course, but he’s yet to REALLY impress me. Might be more of a grower, like Harrison. These brothers are without doubt The Beatles of today.

The Lemon Twigs have been my favorite band since Go to School, and it's incredibly hard to make a top ten list, but not just because they've only come out with a handful of releases, but because they're still so young, I feel like their songwriting is still maturing and becoming more refined. So, when thinking about the "best" they have to offer, half if not more of the songs I'd chose would be from Everything Harmony. But that's not to say that certain favorites from previous albums won't age better. It's just too hard (and soon) to say what my favorite songs would be. Also, top ten "best" and top ten "favorites" is something my ADHD brain just can't handle. It's interesting to think about though.
I love both brother's song-writing and if I were to create a top ten list, it would inevitably be split between both of their songs. It just makes it that much more difficult to rank them in terms of my favorites being that Michael is so much more leaning into the glam-rock/punk edge, and Brian 60's pop/folk. On the whole, I'm much more into Michael's edge as an aesthetic (because I grew up listening to way more stuff like Lou Reed than any single folk artist or sixties band other than maybe the Kinks) but I feel like Brian is the better songwriter. Everything Harmony is really special because it feels like more than ever the brothers are meeting each other halfway to create a sound that balances an album in a way that hadn't been done quite as well in the past. In My Head is a great example of something that I wouldn't be surprised to learn that either brother wrote if I didn't know that each brother sings the songs they write. It sounds similar to an artist like Martin Newall (Cleaners from Venus), an artist that is often very poppy and jangly 60's inspired but also had enough post punk moody edge that allowed him to play shows with the Ramones in the 80's. In My Head isn't my favorite Lemon Twigs song, but it does make me extremely excited to potentially hear more music like that from them in the future. In other words, I feel like that's a really natural sounding blend of both of the Twigs strong points that I can't quite say sounds like many other songs from them. I feel the same way about the weirdness and delicacy of I Don't Belong to Me. It makes perfect sense as a Michael song, but then again, it feels like a song that Brian should have written- and I mean that in the best way possible. It sounds like a haunting disconnected LSD driven Beach Boys song- something I would expect from Brian based on his writing so far. But it also works perfectly for Michael's vocals and his "character" singing the song is perfect.
Long story short (sorry for the rant), a top ten list with this band is just too hard of a task, but I definitely do think that they are getting better and better with each album, although as a tone and mood, Songs for the General Public is probably what I would consider my favorite album so far. But Everything Harmony showcases the best song-writing over all, IMO. I enjoyed this video a lot but it kinda lost me at the "there are no 10/10's on Everything Harmony." I hope the test of time comment also changes that take. I've listened to the album to death, to be fair, almost to the point of exhaustion for the time being, but I feel like the whole first half of the album, if not most of it, is perfect. The only throw-a-way track IMO is the very Broadway driven title track, but I by no means dislike it. It just really feels like an obvious second to last track against the others (just like Leather Together).
Oh! Also thought I should mention that the effect that you're talking about at the end of Ghost Run Free is an envelope filter!
Gun to Head favorite song though? Hog. Sounds like it should have been the best song in Phantom of the Paradise. That horrifying bridge that explodes into that bittersweet lead before the final chorus was the most I've ever enjoyed hearing music from them on a first listen. The song writes itself yet I'm amazed it was written.

First of all, how difficult it is to choose between all The Lemon Twigs songs! As you say in the video, each of the songs resonate with you differently to the point of remembering where you were the first time you heard them. That's their talent and magic. I have to add that I love to pieces each style of them: Michael's theatricality and his way of narrating his songs turns him into an expectle you can't take your eyes off of. But Brian... oh boy, I realized while making this list that there is nothing that moves me more than his "cheesy" and existentialist songs, because there is nothing I love more than a beautiful soft existentialist song full of soul, sadness, joy and hope... an openess to vulnerability and an invitation to cut yourself open and be exposed to all the love, sorrow and pain you can feel.
So, here goes my top 10 songs:
    1. Live in favor of tomorrow
(the rush of love and hope that this song brings me is unmatched)
    2. Light and love
(I dreamed the other night that they sang this song during a concert and I was there, shocked, crying to this beautiful song)
    3. I wanna prove to you
(an absolut banger, raw love declaration)
    4. Frank
(the lyrics, the barroque and progressive sound of it... chills)
    5. How lucky am I?
(so delicate and yet so powerful, perfect harmonies)
    6. Beautiful
(whenever I listen to this song I forget for a moment my problems or the things that stress me out, it's like my call to earth)
    7. Wandering ways
(It reminds me so much to the early Bowie's stuff, it is so "When I life my dream" kind of song, so dreamy)
    8. Still is not enough
(Beautiful lyrics and harmonies and also because I had to make room for a Michael's song)
    9. Everything harmony
(Not sure whose song this is, but as you said, there is nothing not to love in this song... it's like a breeze of fresh air)
    10. Go to school
(it brings me joy and nostalgia, as if you were tasting the last crumbs of your favorite food and enjoying the aftertaste of it. It is finnished, you enjoyed, and now you know there is nothing you can do for it to come back (kind of like your childhood and teen years)).
Sorry for my long post, no one near me listens to The Lemon Twigs so the only place were I can share my feelings is here, so thank you for opening this discussion. I can't wait for their new album and also going to their concert on May, it's going to be my first, and I am as excited as a teenager can be. My boyfriend is coming with me, he wants to be surprised by the band and I hope he falls head over hills like I did.
