- Iconic Penn State football coach, Joe Paterno, was laid to rest amid campus streets lined with thousands of friends and fans. Some, who waited to see the motorcade, braved the elements to say their final farewell to the coach, philanthropist and teacher.
RIP Joepa! you always taught us to keep our heads up which is what you did throughout all of this. You will be missed. PSU forever
I was fortunate enough to meet you face to face. Though brief, I will never forget it for as long as I live. God Bless you JoePa.
The fall of JoePa's reputation reminds me how fragile man and his accomplishments are. You can become a legend, idolized in bronze, build an empire off of it, and yet one mistake, one slippage of morality, can render it all for naught. Stuff like this makes me wonder if the world is ending....the old heroes are falling, and the old glories are fading, leaving what?
RIP, Joe Pa!!!
@psubecky14 joe paterno is penn state, he was fired yrs ago, and basically told the board, no im not fired, he was in charge, he knew about it and covered it up.
I know. I can't believe he didn't do more to stop Sandusky.
RIP JoePa, I never met you, but you have forever changed my world for the better.
@packr72 Actually Sandusky went to trial in 1998 and the case was closed after the Centre County DA decided there were no criminal charges. Know your facts before you speak. Blame the justice system, not wish death on a coach who helped shape an entire university on integrity and academics.
@packr72 I would say the University President, Athletic Director, Board of Trustees, and the Governor of PA have much more control than the head football coach. Corbett knew about this since before he was governor, but kept it hidden until after re-election because he would lose his seat on the BOT and possibly lose the election. Also, JoePa was not the one who gave individuals the privilege to use facilities; it is the overall athletic department's responsibility to distribute access
RIP JOE
RIP
we are because you were!
Paterno's funeral. BAAAAAAAAAARF!!!
If I were a student a PennState, I wouldn't admit it, and get the hell out of there. I wouldn't want anything to do with that place.
@manyhats222 joe paterno is PENN STATE, he is GOD at PENN STATE, he should have reported it to higher authorities back in 2004, he shouldnt have allowed sandusky continued use of penn state facillities, and dont say paterno told his "superiors" he has no superiors, he is king at penn state, if he had integerity he would have reported it to pennsylvannia state police or the FBI, not PENN STATE CAMPUS POLICE
Joe Pa took the easy way out. He didn't want to deal with the after math and wants his legacy burn to the ground.
@packr72 Putting JoePa aside, who says something like that about someone who died, especially someone who lost their battle to cancer! Secondly, don't use the word senile unless you know how to spell it.
STILL LOVE JOEPA? Then Check out the PENN STATE REMIX by Marc-jean ft Colby Shirey Its got almost 4,000 hits the 2.5 days its been up!
Who cares??? I would be ashamed to be associated with this place.
:(
Go PSU! Go Joe Pa!
@SteelChampyinz Why do I get the feeling that if this same situation occurred at Maryland instead of Penn State, you'd be all sorts of conspiracy theory-happy? LOL!
The school is to intellectually advance for you
psu 4life
RIP Joe
