    I saw your gear video about going on this hike and how you had a surprise co hiker. A few days later I saw his channel come up and the title had this trail. I thought oh, that’s the hike Taylor is going on. Then when I started watching, there you where! That answered the mystery. How nice to see different people I watch get together. Upper New England is a wonderful place with beautiful people. 😊❤️🇺🇸⛺️🌄

    Well it's about time that the two New Englanders, whose hiking videos that I watch on probably a more consistent basis than any others, get together for some miles! I got my new Hyperlite pack yesterday, and I'm extra pumped to use it up in the mountains for several days this fall!

    I was reading an article in the AMCs Appalachia book about the Cohos trail and I started thinking that I want to do a longer hike and remember watching your first video on the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway and went to find the video again to reacquaint myself with the hike to see if it's something I should even think about and I stumbled onto this video and see you were hiking with Kyle Hates Hiking. I so would love to do a hike with you two. I know I could learn a lot, specifically how to lighten my load. I carry WAAAAYYYY to much even for a hike up Mt. Willard I pack enough to spend a night or two in the woods if I have to, which you should do, but I know I could do much better.

    I’m really glad I stumbled across your channel. I’ve done a considerable amount of hiking and backpacking in NH and I’ve never heard of this trail. And based on the look of several sections you’ve shown, it doesn’t see a lot of traffic. It’s a prime example of how the Whites get all the love(and crowds), and the rest of the state is treated as if it doesn’t exist.

I just purchased the revised 2nd edition from Ken's website for around $20 and believe he has done a very nice job (he even signed it for me). If you used or like 'The 4000-footers of the White Mountains' you might like this one as well. You might even consider reviewing these books in one of your videos!

    Basically since a lot of the trail is privately owned, if people can't follow the rules and camp in designated areas, landowners might revoke public usage.

    Hey Taylor,
    What's the deal with the parking at both ends of the trail ?
    I've been wanting to hike the MSG for probably 20 years now and I think it's finally going to happen next week.
    I would be hiking nobo and spotting a car at sunapee the night before. From what I've read, parking at the ski area is free but, call them before and check.
    As far as Monadnock, the HQ is usually the last place I want to park but, in this situation I feel it's the safest place to leave a vehicle.
    I know they charge to park there and not sure about the multiple day parking if it's a one time charge or they charge you by the day. I'm not worried about making a reservation because, we would be departing on a Thursday.
    Thanks for any info you can provide.
    Steve-o

      @TaylortheNahamshaHiker  Před 2 lety +1

      I've left cars at both locations while I did the MSGT. Once I tried to leave my car at a different parking lot by Monadnock, but the people working strongly encouraged I went to the HQ because it was much safer. They didn't charge by the day, it was just the normal flat-rate they charge anyone (maybe $15 I think). I made a reservation the first time to park at the HQ because it was a weekend, but I'm pretty sure you can check availability on the website to see if it's going to be full or not. I didn't let Sunapee know ahead of time I was going to leave a car and it wasn't an issue. Hope this helps.

    Watched your videos for a while now. Wish you would of respected camping at the campsites you of all people should know this is how these things get shut down. Being right in my back yard and doing it yearly would be greatly disappointed if that happened ( not saying it would from you doing it once, I think you know what I mean)

    This looked relatively flat, is it easy enough for someone not in great shape to do? I had looked at doing this work my husband, but wasn't sure how hard it would be

    • @TaylortheNahamshaHiker
      @TaylortheNahamshaHiker  Před 4 lety +3

      Parts of it are flat, but there are definitely some bigger climbs as well. I guess it just depends on how fast you want to complete it. It took us two full days and two half days and it was a bit of a challenge for me physically. There are 5 (i think) shelters along the trail, so if you plan for shorter days it shouldn't be too bad!
