I don't intend to do many more no damage runs in the future due to the mechanical nature of the game. Doom Eternal is built around resource management and although it does show skill and dedication to perform a ‘no damage run,’ it doesn't show the potential and purpose of this game. I feel that it is better to show the glorified and freestyle combat that this game offers rather than awkwardly avoiding close combat.

@@khalil7011 Before being hell priests, the deag order were Sentinel priests. I'm still confused on that as they still worship the Kahn Makyr and are not called "Urdak Priests" or something, anyways.
The doom marine was taken in by some knight Sentinels after he was badly wounded, he was made to fight other prisoners in the colleseum where this boss fight occurs and eventually he got the respect of the night Sentinels, they took him in and trained him. Helped "cure" his PTSD. The slayer was given superhuman strength and speed by the Seraphim and he slayed the Titan attacking Taras Nabad during Hells invasion of Argent D'Nur. This made him very well respected among the people, to the point where people consider him one of their own. However, the Sentinel priests are also well respected and have a lot of power over the people too. There is a rule that states that there cannot be a Sentinel citizen murdering another one of their own on their land. So by the slayer killing Deag Grav he is basically an outlaw and a criminal. Which idk why he just didn't take him to the ripatorium and kill him there as a loop hole.

Cool fact : The codex states that there are different "breeds" of the same demon. If you look carefully at the gladiator, you'll realize that it looks exactly like the hell knights in Doom II. It's height also matches the 2016 Baron's height (the hell knights were reskinned Barons in the old games). So basically Doomguy just killed the last OG hell knight.
Even funner fact. Demons are not actually 'killed' in the sense we assume. They physically die but then return as essence to a 'Void' where they start regenerating.

@@dokkae-bae4386 apparently it takes a lot of years for a demon to reincarnate or for a new one to be born. So it is possible but not very likely. I feel bad for that poor imp that has been glory killed 10 times.
Not only that, but the 2016 one states that Hell Knights are also prized gladiators, further cementing the theory that that was an OG
I really love Hugo Martín and the rest of the guys for deciding to do that with some other elements. Another fun fact, the Art of Doom(which I own a copy of) had concepts for the Hell Knights which gave them their horns and brown skin back along with a classic revenant skin.

VK aa3k I did a no damage run by checkpoint, in 2016, which meant if I took a point of damage on nightmare I had to load checkpoint. Even rune trials. It’s possible!

It wasn’t synced, more or less the music plays with how YOU play. Some parts play more often if you use a certain weapon or kill and kill, and encourages you to do that.
@2bboe98 no, that part was by mere chance. There are other beats that start once the gladiator was knocked down both times, but that wasn't one of them.

@@AL2009man I'm max rank in splatoon 2 and gyro aiming is way better than right stick. It's actually pretty close to a mouse, bit it's not coded right in some games. Haven't tried DOOM 2016 yet.

The shield contains the souls of the true Night Sentinels who were fallen, killed by the Gladiator, their souls transferred to its shield empowering it. The souls grew tense when the Doomslayer fought it, as they realised only the Slayer himself can kill the beast, hence yelling out "KAR EN TUK" (translates to Rip and Tear).

@@alivingdagger9915 When the shield got destroyed it, the captive souls yell “rip and tear” when facing the gladiator alone, encouraging the slayer towards victory. The eyes of the shield also glow green warning the slayer when the gladiator is going to attack aiding him in defeating the gladiator, the captive souls essentially help the slayer defeat the gladiator.

The shield reminds me of the one used by Death Adder in the Golden Axe fighting game. It absorbed magic you threw at it, and peeling it off was a point in beating him.

yeah, bfg doesn't stun him though, the only boss that doesn't get stunned by it.
You can't hit him directly but AoE damage still works. Use the rocket launcher with remote detonation mod.

If you pay attention, the shield is shouting "Kar en tuk" the sentinel translation for "rip and tear". The shield wanted the gladiator dead.

I know its a joke but you have to kill a priests guardian before they can be damaged, like deag ranak had the doom hunter, the gladiator was deag gravs guardian so the slayer had to kill him to get that blue token thing to shoot grav.

The follow-up attack when he goes close to you is really hurt on high difficulty. Wish he had green eyes when does that move.

When warefare extends it's gristly paw into remote controlled robot assasins, they would go to people like this. I beat the game on nightmare, it took me a week and I died more times than should be allowed. Mad skills bro, I would love to know how you mastered the combat and flow in such a short period of time.

I prioritised learning the fundamentals of the game (resource management, positioning and prioritising enemies) by replaying certain fights over and over until everything clicks. Final Sin first arena is a great place to learn to juggle everything at once.

Always keen to see how developers incorporate new mechanics or refurbish/keep the same original concepts! Always a fan to see how far they can push the difficulty of the AI though!
If this thing fought like a Hell Knight it would be A LOT more difficut. Would be difficult actually. I loved the boss, I didnt beat it without taking damage but I did on nightmare without dying and I must say I got a bit disappointed. The hellguards in 2016 were a lot harder, that was a real boss fight.
Hell Guards were the hardest fight in (2016) for sure.
@@felynecomrade To be honest , on Ultra Nightmare , I feel pretty confident on The Hell Guard, even without taking dmg. This guy in Eternal however, is a gatekeeper for me, get goosebumps everytime I have to fight him again.

every time i got to this point in the fight i just pulled out a heavy weapon with knock back and he got stunned mid air although im aware it's not fool proof
