    Great advice. I've never turned an alpha's ships into materials until the most recent one. 100% recommend exploration to get isk up. I would suggest using scanning mids and hacking rigs though. The tank doesn't really matter. If you get caught in a heron, you're toast anyway. 😆

      I like the idea of converting your ships into resources too but since you can't convert the resources back into your ship (unless you have high skills). Why do you keep the resources? Wouldn't it be better just to sell them on the station you started from that would pay more than jita right? And in case you get attacked at least you still have the money by selling your ships

      just a heads up from a ex pirate/ganker. in high sec if you are being targeted there are a few reasons why. in a few seconds your going to get ganked, you are being scanned to see if its worth ganking you and lastly they are trying to bait you. if you cant bring the pain just get out asap as soon as someone starts to target you, high sec or not.

    • @spartan456
      @spartan456 Před 2 lety

      @@legendaryone696 The most lethal system near Jita is Uedama. It is easy enough to detour around Uedama by slipping into Olettiers, a nearby low-sec system. Every time I have to slip in and out of Jita, I always pass through Olettiers. The gamble on your ship and pod is night and day, just look at the map stats for ship kills/pod kills on the EVE map between Uedama and Olettiers. Even the system activity is exponentially lower in Olettiers. Basically, it's considerably less risk to just detour through one low-sec system to get to Jita than it is to stay in high sec and risk the Tornado camps in Uedama.
      Jita itself however is also dangerous. But it is highly unlikely a beginner will get ganked while undocking in Jita. Especially as a beginner. Most people do not pay any mind to T1 haulers. You may get locked, you may get scanned, but as long as you aren't hauling 400mil+ in stuff, most people will probably leave you alone and move on to someone else. Also, you should always set up an instawarp on the station undock. If it's a station you use all the time, it's worth the relatively short time investment. You will align practically instantly and warp away from any immediate threats very quickly, giving you the ability to align and warp to your intended destination without risk.
      Jita undocking becomes more dangerous when you start piloting T2 haulers. These are indications that you are actually carrying something valuable. If you undock in a Blockade Runner, it's entirely possible you may get blown up simply on the virtue that you have an unscannable ship. Someone can't tell what you are hauling so they may take the gamble on the hopes you've got lots of nice loot in there. Deep Space Transports are a lot tankier and harder to take down, but you may get flagged by a scout on undock and later run into a camp ready to alpha you when you least expect it.
      The fact of the matter is, high sec is arguably more dangerous to be in than low or nullsec. You can still get blown up and podded in high sec, the threat of CONCORD does not deter everyone. However, the inevitable danger high sec poses only becomes tangible and something to worry about when you actually have things that people care about destroying or stealing. Beginners have neither of these things. I would not recommend trying to run missions in a Machariel or Marauder in the middle of Jita. That's asking to get ganked. But there is very little risk in a beginner sliding into Jita 4-4 to buy 1,000 rounds of their favorite ammo and then doing some Level 1 missions. Nobody cares about that, you don't even register on anyone's radar.

      Jita is guaranteed to have 99.9% of the things you may want or need to fit any ship you want to buy and fly. Many of the other trade hubs do not. For example, Rens used to be "the second Jita" many years ago but over the years it has been severely neglected due to market competition from Hek. The community can't decide on which of these two systems they want to use as "trade hubs", so Rens and Hek have turned into these desolate markets where you may very well have to visit BOTH of them just to fit out a ship. It's annoying. Even something as simple as T1 ammo may be nowhere to be found in either of these places. So Jita is the go-to recommendation.
