  • Three generations of the Tracer. Which one would you buy? We take two of the bikes to BC after over 20000 km I tell you what I think.

    Six,
    Awesome trip, sounds like some cool adventures & good memories with your riding buddies on sweet bikes. Thanks for explaining the pros & cons on these bikes. Keep similar videos coming & ride safe.

    Love almost everything about your review and am looking for an FJ-09 for my wife. I really think you should mount your camera on your helmet. With your solid windscreen we miss some beautiful scenery.

    Because of this in depth review, I am now the proud owner of the FJ-09. Previously loved with added upgrades I didn't have to pay for... Cheers to the excellent job pointing out the pros with cons and some contentious similarities. About 5000 miles in the saddle so far. Only complaint is the death wobble at about 95+mph 153kph empty. So loaded up greatly increased it. With that being said, I do NOT regret my decision. It's hard not to be a hooligan though...

      I read that the death wobble at high speeds is due to an incorrectly adjusted preload between the back and front suspension. You might look into that.

      I've been told if you put your elbows in it'll make a lot of difference to the wobble. Personally I think the original MT09-tracer was the most fun as it had the shortest wheelbase. Depends what you want the bike for I suppose.

    I've had my 2015 FJ09 for 7 years and 80,000 K+. I did have the engine rebuilt early this year, my fault for a mistake adjusting the valves. I considered the Tracer 9 GT+, but my 2015 already has all the upgrades. suspension, seat, windshield, ECU, brakes and exhaust. Other than ABS and traction control, it's all manual and I wouldn't change a thing. I daily commute on it, but have also taken it on some long trips. Yours is the best video of its kind I've seen.

      Thanks…I try! There is not a whole lot of difference from the first fj’s and the new gt’s.

      Hi. Can you elaborate on your valve adjustment mistake and the consequences?

    Six,
    Are you still rockin the Tracer 900 GT?If so, keep the videos coming of your latest adventures/updates or mods you've done over time. I picked up a like-new 2020 Tracer 900 GT model with low miles & great price & your right, they're great bikes! Thanks to your videos it helped convince me to pull the trigger on it. Also like you I own a Xsr900 (2019 model), so I was already a big fan of the triple engine! Lol😄😎👍Stay safe & keep rockin!

    Good review. Nice trip. I’ve owned an mt09 in the past - traded it for a speed triple 1050 rs though. Missing the cheaper maintenance on the old yamaha. I think I want something w more touring capability and I am considering these bikes but also adventure bikes too. Not convinced yet. Cheers! 😎🏍🤙☀️

    I own a 2020 Tracer 900GT. I tried a 9GT last fall and see no reason to change. The small increase in torque is not really noticeable and I honestly prefer the looks of my bike.
    The up/down quick shifter is the only thing I see as a real upgrade. I will be keeping my 900GT, probably for a long time.

    Can I ask you something? I have a Tracer 7 for touring and I'm considering the 900gt ( better looking and far more affordable than the 9 ) I know that the suspension was much maligned on the 900 but that's what you get with longer travel I suppose ( they've been changed to a much more conventional front end on the newer MT09/Tracer9/XSR9 and it does show when riding ). My question is 17" wheels and tyres - I ride about 80% good roads and 20% rubbish gravelly type roads: Do you find a big difference between tyre sizes and so called adv tyres on this stuff or is it just marketing? I've always stuck to sports touring tyres and ridden accordingly rather than put on some "80/20's" . I've never been convinced that an adv bike with a 19" front and 80/20 tyres would be any better than a 17" - or certainly not enough to worry about.

    • @I_am_Thursday
      @I_am_Thursday Před rokem

      It's a real shame that you don't get the Tracer 7. I swear to you it's far better than the engine size would suggest!

    If you could only have one bike. Which one would you choose between the XSR900 and the Tracer 9GT and why?

    • @sixthisoverdrive
      @sixthisoverdrive  Před 2 lety

      I am getting quite shakey , so for me it’s the Tracer and it’s cruise control and luggage. Now I think the new XSR 2022 has cruise, I would definitely take the XSR. But, because of my shakey hands I have sold my XSR and my one bike is the Tracer 900gt.

    is 20.000 - 30.000km considered a lot of km's? i'm looking to buy one of these as my first bike (used) and for a car 30.000km is nothing but i have no knowledge about bike mileage

    • @mrshadeshady
      @mrshadeshady Před 5 měsíci +1

      I don’t think 30,000kms for a bike is a lot. He’s Canadian like myself, most of us ride for pure pleasure maybe 6months a year (due to winter) so the mileage is low. If you look at England, some guys ride year round and will put 100,000 miles (160,000 kms) on a bike before it’s retired.

    The only Tracer that has factory installed CC is the tracer gt

    The newer 9Gt is so damn ugly. I wish they would go back to the original Tracer 900 with shorter swingarm and the Super Tenere Display. The new Display looks like a scuba diver and the Display of the 900GT doesn't fit to the design of the bike. The Super Tenere Display was perfect for it. They just made a good bike worse. I own a 900GT but wouldn't buy the 9GT.
