"The most fun bike you can ever own, is a bike that works." That is the best and most honest thing I've heard from a moto-vlogger ever! I've had more fun with the bikes I haven't had to wrench on than a bike that was always broken down. My buddies have Ducati 1098s and Triumphs and even some Aprilias and the only ones able to ride because they aren't broken down are my one friend with a Super Tenere 1200

In my opinion great choice. After 13 V Stroms I went the same direction back in 2020. After 2 FJ09 and 1 Tracer 900 I’m now (for 2 months) on 2019 GT. GREAT BIKE. So far 7000km. The blue one is definitely the best looking Tracer GT

is really the tracer a big jump from the vstrom> I know it has cruise control, nice tech, more powerful engine, comfy if you tweak a seat solution. But the vstrom is just really comfortable, lienar power and predictable, and a tad less expensive to maintain. the tracer looks more fun though, good for the twisties, not so good for the city. And for longer runs, I reckon the vstrom will do it better.

I just got a 2022 Tracer 9 GT in Canada. I was looking at the Tenere 7 world Raid and that wasn’t coming to North America, I looked at NT1100 from Honda, same thing not coming to North America at the moment. I looked at the Aprilia Toureg, no dealer support in my immediate area. Next up I ordered the tracer 9; nice bike, surprisingly quick!!

Good video and great explanations. I wonder why anyone is getting hate when it comes to fuel economy? I'm happier on a bike that doesn't guzzle like hell. Also I like to keep costs low. Three years ago I bought a Tracer 700 model 2016 in blue and rode it for over 20.000km without any problems. Just changed tires at about 15.000km. Even the chain is still the first. I did replace the spark plugs and air filter myself and even did a valve clearance check at 20.000km instead of the 40.000 which is recommended in the workshop manual. I ride that thing pretty hard on the Autobahn and the four exhaust valves had to be adjusted as clearance was below tolerance. All four intake valves were okay.
Last month I got me a 2018 Tracer 900 GT in midnight black and I love it to bits. In my opinion best looking Tracer 900 variant. What I would have liked is that they stuck to the Display of the Super Tenere instead of the LCD display on the newer 900 models. Kind of fits more to the look on this bike.
Reliability is key and that's why I bought the Yamaha. Bike companies I avoid are Ducati, MV Agusta, Husqvarna, KTM, Triumph, Harley anything not made in Japan. 😬😂
Working with Ducati, HQV and KTM I would not buy one ever seeing all the problems even on brand new out of the box bikes. KTMs I worked on had electronic suspension problems (non functional electric actuators) so I'm glad the 2018 Tracer 900 has a mechanical suspension.
Also the MT-07 and Tracer 700 variants are built in France, is that correct? I see them as MBKs and not Yamahas in the manufacturer's list on my registration. So I guess that's the reason why they are not available in Japan.

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před 3 lety +1

Yamaha's 700 cc bikes for sale in Europe and the commonwealth nations (excluding canada) are made in France. That's why some rust, but cause some metallurgy is not legal in Europe.
The rest of the world (or atleast Asia and North America) get made in japan. Not much environmental laws here but that means quality first.
I personally don't like being the "only buy Japanese always" guy, but my experience and the stories/ stats about euro bikes and fp time to time usa bikes are soooo scary.

My 2014 vstrom, bought in 2020 sold in 2021, sold for 85% what I paid. I checked with yamaha and my tracer being 3months old now has lost over 40% of value maybe more.
So bikes tend to even out ok after about 5-7 years. Below 400cc is better because of the way license work here. 250cc and down have no inspection requirements so they tend to hold their value best.

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před 2 lety +1

I didn't notice a drop in power. But a 2007 bike will loose power over time like any vehicle compared to a factory new bike.
The tracer feels lighter and better fuel economy. All the extra features are great, I love Cruise.
But I can't stress enough that even though spec sheet says the tiger is only I think 8kg more, the tracer feels weight lighter. Tracer even feels lighter than my vstrom 650 did.
My only regret would be if you wanted the bits on the new tracer 9 then go for it. But bother will be a clear upgrade from the tiger 1050.

Tracer 900 looks more sporty and more aggressive in my opinion. The new Tracer 9 looks more like a tourer than a sport tourer even though it has more power, but we are talking about looks here. I find the older design better and wish Yamaha would design the bike in a more sporty fashion again with those "shark" fins on the side. Looked way better. With the Tracer 700 and Tracer 7 it's the same. New design sucks.

Yamaha definitely take the "like nothing you've ever seen" love it or leaving it approach.

  • @cruisingthethaiway6881

    I bought a new Tracer 900GT.
I'll never by another Yamaha because right from day one they managed to rip me off by not including the 22 l panniers that are advertised worldwide to be included with the bike when I took delivery. They just simply said no have. At the same time they asked me why I chose that particular bike and I replied because it's advertised worldwide to come with the panniers. I contacted Yamaha corporation and they made it very clear they didn't care about me. I also discovered that Yamaha does not honor the warranty in any way and three dealerships in my local area I went to I discovered that they don't have anybody qualified to work on motorcycles. As a certified master technician I can say that with full confidence. I quickly discovered that the bike is not in any way shape or form safe to ride in the stock form. Altogether it cost me additional $7,000 to get the panniers and do all the necessary upgrades to make it safe and reliable. I now have a large box of very low quality stock parts that I call fake parts. Yamaha makes fantastic engines but everything else is absolute garbage.

Depending on where you are, (I.e. usa didn't have much) an mt09 used will have worce breaks and suspension with a jerkier throttle than you gsx. Unless you can get an mt09 SP.
Other wise I'd say keep what you have or get a 2021 mt09 or mt09sp.
But if you can weight 2-3 months, 2022 bikes are starting to show up and suzuki won't continue the sv659 and vstron 650. Plus gsx-s750 is not euro 5 so there will be a new one. Suzuki is want I'd be looking to if you can swing a new bike. If you can't, you probably be best sticking with what you got and investing in mods to correct whatever makes you not like it now.
If you want mor touring and want used, tracer 900gt has done everything I want and so much more.
But if I'm honest, gsx-s750 doesn't have Cruise Control and didn't get an update worth a new hike price, other than that I desperately love that bike, so if those 2 thinks don't bother you, is personally hold it and modify the bits you dislike. Older doesn't mean bad.

Just finished watching your upsetting tale about the Triumph.
What a shitty situation to have to go through on a brand new bike... I would feel the same my friend, both frustrating & angry.
The lesson you should take away from that experience is "Don't Buy Brand New..."
Let someone else take the initial financial hit & any problems before the first major service @ 6'000 miles / 10'000 km.
The second hand bike market is where you will always get the best bang for your buck.
I suspect the bike 'was' fine, whoever filled the fluids up the first time didn't do it correctly. All bikes are shipped dry from factory, so the fact the dealer didn't own up to the oil over fill would raise alarm bells for me. Not to mention the coolant under fill. What a joke!
In any case, what happened to you wasn't right.
But try not to dwell on it though my guy - Resentment is corrosive, it can & will affect your health, relationships & life in general, if you let it...
You have a choice, do you want to carry that anger & stress around with you all the time or just let it go... chalk it up to experience / lesson learned and move on.
