How to over winter Ensete bananas in the UK
Two methods. Proper dry storing and potted, ticking over.
I've done this for almost 15 years now and is a great way to over winter these plants.

Great video as always. I've had ensete maurelii for 3 years. Followed your earlier videos re dry storing and they've done well. Mixture for me this year of dry storing and inside growing. Cheers for the invaluable advice👍

which species specifically? Most are best completely dried off OR kept growing above 15c
Hi Kris. Is it possible to over Winter Ensete in a garage that goes down to about "0" if completely dry and wrapped in fleece? I have heard that even dried Ensete need to be around 10 degrees even in dry storage?
They can survive down to zero but not days at this temp and not when they are damp. Best to keep above 5c.
I have a small one in a pot in my unheated conservatory, I assume it will be too cold to overwinter in there? What is the lowest temp they will stand while ticking over in a pot?
Unheated conservatory without any watering should be ok if it's a sunny one.
I have my Ensete in my heated conservatory atm. Like you say it might get infested or too big to stay in here-I then plan on dry storing it in garage. Does it matter how late I choose to commence dry store? Ie could I dry store it from December? Then bring it back into conservatory in March maybe? Thanks
