Known for its poor taste, robusta coffee beans have long sat in the shadow of a more popular alternative, arabica. But a warming planet is threatening the supply of arabica beans. Hoping to provide a popular alternative, some Vietnamese coffee farmers are trying to cultivate better-tasting robusta beans, which can thrive in warmer temperatures.

2:40 What issue? There's nothing wrong with the flavour of Vietnamese Robusta. Its distinctive flavour from arabica is why i love drinking vietnam coffee. There's no need to make it similar in flavour to arabica. Accept it as it is.

I like the earthy flavor of Robusta. I’m starting to drink Phin filter coffee nowadays. 80% of the time I’m drinking Robusta coffee unsweetened. That initial grimace from the bitterness is what perks me up each morning. I only drink it sweetened in the afternoon. Half a pack of sugar or half the standard quantity of condensed/evaporated milk that Vietnamese add in their cà phê sữa đá.

By US or EU telling us that Starbucks is coffee it should tell us all we need to know about their coffee "knowledge" and getting picky with coffee beans… They are mostly drinking water while Asian, South E A and Latin American people likes strong coffee. Ignore them!

Coffee supply is extremely rising. Vietnam is the world's cheapest coffee too, by far. So aside from the taste, the adaptability and purchasing power increases as well.. I'd like to see Vietnam to rise and be the new coffee supplier in the world... and hopefully all of the ASEAN countries too ❤🎉

The type of coffees served in Vietnam tends to be very strongly flavored with condensed milk or other creamers/sweeteners, and robusta is a much better pair for that than arabica. I've made vietnamese coffee with arabica espresso, and the flavor was completely overpowered by the sweetened condensed milk. With robusta, that doesn't happen at all. However, if you're going to drink coffee completely black or even as a latte, it's hard for robusta to beat arabica in that regard as it's just too intense for most palates.

buying raw green robusta beans off of the internet (e -baie) is usually buying unusable rancid beans , I'm going to be switching to Vietnam suppliers is I can find any , because there seems to be a problem knowing who is struggling with telling the truth about where raw green beans are sourced , this week , 4/24 I'm throwing away a horrible batch of robusta sourced from the "americas" after being reassured repeatedly about "freshness" but got rancid product
