    In overal these new tamron primes are actually quite good and also good for the ones that are on a bit of a tight budget. Waiting for the 20mm to come out. Thanks again for the video sir!

    I like the build quality of new Tamrons

    Thanks for the review David, most reviewers have been harsh on these lenses, which I believe have outstanding color rendition and sharpness, AF noise is not as bad as they make it sound like and is pretty snappy, it only struggles in dim light, not the fastest but definitely better than adapted lenses and the first generation of f2.8 sigma lenses

    I have the 24mm & it is a very versatile lens - given its macro akin MFD. I am using it on an a7r4 so it enhances even more its macro capabilities. I orefered getting this lens as opposed to the 17-28 because of its macro range - lightweight - price. It is excellent for travel & for architecture-landscape-design-detail so it gives avery interesting optical range at great image quality.

    These seem like great lenses but both 24mm and 35mm are a tad too close to the focal range of my 28-75mm Tamron lens. However, I might just be interested in the 20mm f/2.8 when it comes out, This would be nice on a full frame camera and not too shabby on a crop sensor (30mm equivalent) either... I don't plan on purchasing the 17-28mm Tamron...

      @@DavidOastler Ok, then I go for the Samyang, as it got superb reviews so far.

    These lenses are inexpensive and seem like great performers- they certainly have a lot going for them but they are redundant for a lot people, I imagine, who have already bought one or both of the Tamron zooms and may already have the Sony 'budget' 28mm f2 and the not so budget Zony 35mm f2.8 in their kit. Not to mention perhaps having bought the killer 24mmf1.4 GM lens, as I did. That is a lens worth carrying around despite being a much heftier 445gr. and it also does macro like closeups. Thanks David. I am looking forward to your testing out and review of the Tamron 20mm prime! Stay well and keep cool.

    Great work as ever the only downside is the 2.8 but that doesn't bother me as it helps to save on weight and size compared to f 1.4 like my samyang 35mm f1.4 it's really heavy and big so I end up mainly using my zony 35mm 2.8 thanks for the review and great shots

    Nice video, David. Can’t wait to see the 20mm. Could be really nice for video/gimbal work. Is f/2.8 enough aperture for your low light video work?

    • @DavidOastler
      @DavidOastler  Před 4 lety

      With the high iso cameras yes it would be fine but just be aware the af is noisy in video so you can’t use a mic on the camera. But the footage is great.

      The need for new lenses that are built for high megapixel cameras is a myth. A lens will render the same way despite the megapixel count.
      Nice marketing gimmick though.

    A person in our photo group asked for a rec. for a wide angle lens. I had ( I promise) typed I loved my Tampon 15-30 wide-angle lens. But Facebook and it's great auto correct typed in Tampon not Tamron. I got so many funny comments and didn't realize what happened until I re-read my comment. I almost fell out of my chair. I learned not to trust auto correct and to re-read my comments. LOL

    24mm 2.8 tamron or 24mm gm?

    • @DavidOastler
      @DavidOastler  Před 4 lety +1

      The GM but it’s way more expensive for people that can’t afford the GM the Tamron is a great choice.
