People used to wonder if the Jazz should build around Rudy Gobert or Donovan Mitchell but now the choice is obvious. Ever since Utah traded their Big-2 each star has gone in different directions. This is a look at why Spida has thrived while Rudy looks like a shell of himself. - Sport
Media likes to talk about Donovan being a defensive liability, yet no one talks about Gobert being an offensive liability
Gobert was Utah's biggest defensive liability in the playoffs year after year when he would be drawn out to guard smaller guards in the perimeter. He's the biggest DPOY Fraud that ever existed
Been saying that for years
Everyone talks about that what you talking about đespecially since he signed the huge contract shaq was the first one to talk smack about his non existent offense
CAPPPP TMAC been cooking him for years.
Idk. I hear it quite a bit. Watch the dude play for 5 mins and it kinda goes without saying.
Donavan has been going crazy this season, the cavs is a perfect team for spida
True he has a lot of young runners with him and they all are solid defenders
What do you say about the games were he basically disappeared? Against the raptors he was held to under 10 one game and 12 the other this year and thatâs mainly because OG was guarding himâŠto me itâs a bit weird. Then against some other teams like Brooklyn it was 15 points. He seems to bounce around.
@@TheOnlyKontrol yeah he alsohad 33 the first time they played toronto better worry about makin the play in game
Donovan is doing good. Playoffs are different because your opponent is prepare for the team they are playing with.

As a Jazz Fan, I'm Happy that Donovan is Happy in Cleveland, But it's Hard Not to Wish we didn't Trade him after this sort of Stuff Happens.
At least yâall probably get victor after this
W fan your right things happen for a reason maybe yâall will get wemby or scoot Henderson
Donavon low key forced the Jazz because didnt like Utah because he got some backlash from the community for his pushing of CRT. Utah was too white for Donavon and in his own words he is now happier because he sees more black people in the arena.
Theyâre rebuilding so they might get Victor or Scoot so they can build around them
dawg him leaving is the reason you're doing so good he hated Utah fans
The Rudy Gobert trade package is one that should only be used for star players who'll actually make their new team better.
@@Identify_As_Right why does it make a difference?
@@Identify_As_Right honestly wouldnât have made a difference. Rudy gobert is hot garbage.

Hey Casey, I've been a long time fan of the channel and I just want to say I am so impressed by how the quality of your videos have improved so much. They are so well researched, edited, and put together to be both engaging and educational. Keep up the hard work!
Wow, thank you!
Great vid Casey, would love to see you discuss why on earth Toronto has been so bad this season in spite of a top 5 of FVV, Trent Jr., OG, Barnes, and Siakam, one of the best in the NBA imo.
Fred has the worst true shooting in the nba this season. Their star point guard is having his worse season ever and they donât seem to have a consistent backup.
Coming Friday!
@@SackVegasAnime that is true. They really should trade for someone like Derrick Rose given heâs out of the Knicksâ full-time rotation.
They don't have a good floor facilitator. FVV is decent, but he's not Lowry level.
Yeah and I think Nick Nurse has gone too crazy with the tough love. Interested to see his breakdown on Friday
Imagine the wolves had kept that depth.. kept Kessler who is currently doing exactly what they hope Rudy would do. They could have still traded picks to improve the roster.
Kessler is outplaying Rudy and he's younger and cheaper. Gobert to Minnesota might be a much worse trade than the Pierce, Garnett trade to Brooklyn
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 Rudy is also trash in his finest days so that trade is just flat out braindead.
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812ne bad contract is still better than 2. Also, it depends on how those picks turn out. The nets trade is so bad because the Celtics picked two stars in the top 5 picks.

Ok stop it. Kessler is a solid player. But he is nowhere near Gobert's defence
Hey man, been watching your vids for a while and every vid is good, itâs always a better day when you upload, glad to see youâre channel growing đ
I appreciate it!
And now both teams have lost 4-1 in the first round.
Donovan looks happy playing for Cleveland. Iâm happy for him.
Considering that Gobert is damn near unplayable in the post season with his inept perimeter defense, I would question any "expert" that thinks you can build a franchise around him in today's NBA.
Back when you would see Miami go on the fast break after a made basket in the Lebron era you knew times had changed.
You aren't building around him, but as the 2nd best player he is good. The Jazz defence sucked which made him look bad when in reality it's the Jazz inept defence that cost them
Nobody ever said or suggested to build a team around him. Only dimwitted morons like you, Andrew, believe that was ever a thing being said.
What Gobert is and always has been is a defensive anchor with limited, but effective and efficient, offensive contribution. In fact, Rudy Gobert has the highest career offensive rating of all time.
It's unfortunate that things didn't work out yet in Minnesota and it's cool that Mitchell looks good with the Cavs .... But cavs are a second round exit at best
@@bbal9678 you dont give supermax contacts to the 2nd option lmao
@@ATF- I mean they almost all get close Kyrie, AD, PG, etc but Gobert should be the 3/4th best player
Donovan has always been ballin if u watch Utah basketball your not surprised by the season heâs having
He went to a team that was better than the jazz so it's not surprising he's doing well. Garland, Allen, Mobley. All the Jazz had were Gobert and Mitchell. Conley was done.
It's pretty wild that the Cavs had Lauri, who is killing it now, and essentially made him useless.
Donovan has chemistry with his new team whole Gobert still doesn't. Black Americans seem to get along and have a hard time meshing with Europeans.

Laughing at Noah. I went on vacation to Cleveland. They have the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame was less than an hour away.

The last American MVP was James Harden in 2018, still fairly recent. Nothing to worry about.

Bucks fan here, I've always thought, said and even argued on YT and elsewhere, as compared e.g. to Luka, D. Mitchell gets disproportionally and unfairly much less credit than he deserves as per the talent and general value as a player. The kid is a genuine baller! All he has to do is control his game, decisions and emotions and be more successful in the playoffs with the help of his teammates, because other than that he is not just a star. He can do everything on the basketball court as a superstar. The skillset is out of this world. And we have been unfair to him, he gets far less credit, I understand Luka, Giannis being from Europe they have fans, NBA is primarily a business, even I am from Greece ok, but basketballwise the credit those two get is unfairly much more than D. Mitchell disproportionally if we consider the relevant talent difference (if there is much of it). And I am not saying give less credit to Luka or Giannis cuz they deserve what they get, but give more and pay more attention to what this kid is doing if you love basketball
It's not unfair my man. It's because he has always lost in the playoffs when he should have won like with the clippers without kawhi and mavs without Luka. Luka went to the conference finals in his 4th year with no other all stars something which d hasn't yet done.
@@someshnarayan7368 yes I see that you are right, I mentioned playoffs too. What I am saying is, imho, he shouldn't get as much credit as Luka or Giannis, but he deserves more than he gets. Of course we will see what happens in the playoffs because this is very important too
@@parists5455 i agree my man. I think that's because the nba wants to position ja v Luka as the next west rivalry and ja is pushed more than he should. Imo dmitch is better than ja and should be getting the same hype.

The Knicks literally offered rj, obi, Robinson and 3 first round picks. And the jazz still declined. But I guess you didnât see that report
I really think the jazz just wanted draft picks more than anything. 3 unprotected first and 2 pick swaps is the draft picks they got from Cleveland.
I donât know if you will ever read this but you leave the best cliff hangers in every video to continue to watch basketball content. I hope I am able to talk to you whether online or in person. As always on point video. Love it!
I'm a jazz fan and I really wish the best for Rudy.
Do you guys remember that Ben Simmons won Rookie of the Year over Donovan Michel and Tatum? How crazy does that look today?
Simmons was a beast tho and had all the talent in the world to be the next big thing. Unfortunately that didnât happen but heâs still a very serviceable player
I mean Tyreke Evans won ROTH over Curry. Looked good the first two years too. Got hurt and was never the same
That's because Simmons wasn't drafted the same year as either of those guys.
its not gobert's fault, theyre a top defensive team with him on the floor. The wolves are just really bad on defense when he's off
That Shaq comment is so dumb it still makes me mad. I've always admired Spida, and his reaction to Shaq's comment is why I do.
And you know Shaq is gonna try and take credit for "lighting a fire under him"
@@BigWeenisEnergy shaq would say some shit like that lmaoo

Just play 5 guards then say "Our shots just weren't falling tonight"...
Luka's recent 60pt 20assist game also accounts for 100+ pts from a single player. Crazy the single performances that are coming out of this season.
It was 21 rebounds and 11 (or 10 idk) assists
He had 21 rebounds not assists
Gobert: It's me or him.
Danny Ainge: Why not both?
And today it's even more spicyđ Rudy punching his teammate and getting trolled by draymond on Twitter just before their play in game vs the Lakers just makes his situation worse
Defense is not going to worse. Defenses are just forced to not be reckless anymore. The best defenders in today's NBA, would be all first team defense in the 90's. Most '90s all defensive players, would be unplayable in modern day basketball, because they only have their physicality to rely on.
Love your videos but god damn man I need to have the volume on 1 đ

I really think that the wolves can still turn things around with the right Coaching, they need to try that to salvage this team, all isn't lose yet. We all see with the right Coaching philosopy Rudy is a phenonmenal rim protector
They need Quin Snyder to build the defense around Rudy like he did in Utah. They're not utilizing him properly at all.

Great video
they can both be good lol. the cavs smoking rn as 2nd seed and twolves are the 1st seed, both are finals contenders this yr and spida and gobert both popping off in their own ways
Hol up. I have a problem with that statement "you cannot build a team around a defensive player" "hasn't been done since Bill Russell" was Tim Duncan not a defensive monster?
Honestly, I'm not surprised that the Rudy gobert trade isn't working out all that well. Donovan Mitchell was their offense when they were on the Jazz together. And Rudy was the defense. Unfortunately his defense is also very lackluster when there's a speedy guard near him. That's why they kept getting kicked out of the playoffs. And this just kind of shows that Donovan Mitchell is without a doubt one of the best scores that we have in the league right now and his potential is about to burst.
Did he just say you canât build a team around a defensive player and the last time that happened was bill Russell??? Are we just gone act like Dwight Howard didnât exist???? Lol
Also the Pistons in 2004 were largely built around Big Ben, and that worked out okay :)
Before, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIP, but in todays era, DEFENSE IS ALMOST ZERO... as a proof just check the current weeks of NBa and you could see many players scoring 40+...
Cavs fan here and Iâm HYPED to see what this dude can do here in the future , unbelievable performance . He plays basketball the right way itâs absolutely insane thinking how many nights kyrie had it cooking and just was special and he never got 71 itâs just crazy

Its also not a stupid pick. When the jazz constantly under performed with a DPOY and a pure scorer its tough to bite on a trade.
"Rudy randomly fumbled the ball out of bounds, which sums up his skill son offense." Harsh, but accurate.

4th thing. Take fouls add to more fast breaks and more scoring and keep the game moving.
Funny thing about the T wolves I think they are one piece away. However, I think that piece is Jimmy Butler. Lol
True and funny story, I went to Cleveland with my parents as a kid on vacation
It was a business like trip for my dad but he took us with him. We lived in Latin America btw
To me this just went to show how much the jazz built around Rudy more than we thought: no competition for the big man role so he gets the minutes and the freedom to play his defensive style, under appreciated gaurds in Conley, D Mitch(who to a step on D this year with a team more balanced for him) and Royce OâNeale not necessarily looking to stop who they are defending but aiming them at Rudy for shot blocks and hard contests. And lastly overpaying him so they canât expand the front court and âget Rudy helpâ so he isnât the only defender in the front court. Donavan clearly was and this year seems to be show itâs validity that he was dragging that team to success kicking and screaming trying to get them on his play style when they were already leaning on Rudy who isnât built to have that power.
Love the way Casey says "Spida" lol đ
Can't hate a player for accepting getting over paid gotta hate the payer willing throw money away with bad decision making .
Yep. Its NY vs Cle in the first round. Brunson vs Mitchell.

Defense still wins championships and the Warriors didnât start the 3 pt revolution that was Houston. Golden State started smart shot selection, Steph just had a green light from literally where ever.
I miss Donovan and Rudy but Iâm excited for the upcoming
Plus look at the guy the Jazz got in return for Gobert. Kessler is playing like a beast.
2004 Detroit Pistons won the chip with defense
never doubted Mitchell's ability to score and all that jazz but the only thing i always doubted on him is his Clutching Ability especially when it matters the most like Playoffs and the tail end of regular season where shit gets wacky.
The Rudy trade is why you havenât seen a trade in the nba yet how can you properly evaluate a players value at that bullshit trade
W thumbnail to whoever made it!
He also score more than 25 pts from the Free. If donât tell you today NBA donât know how to play defense I donât know what which tell you that.
2004 Detroit pistons was in fact a defense team built around a defense player

@@Ravon_Regular I would like to know why do you think that's going to happen...?

No cap that most points in a game list is gonna be seeing some changes with the rate that 3s are shot in the league now, and going in is almost doubled to just even Kobeâs era of basketball
Danny Ainge was trolling the Knicks on that Spyda trade Knicks will be just fine without him
I think there is another reason why the offence is so great. I am from Europe and when I watch highlights of NBA I almost always get a bit angry by how many steps players can make without dribbling the ball and how much they carry the ball. I get it that there are different rules here in NBA but still, I think it's too much and that is a one big reason why offence is so good. Players can do so much without reffs calling it.
Youâre not really wrong but just remember, blame the officiating more than players
I don't blame the players for sure. If they can get away with doing something that makes it easyer for them to play and win I'm sure anyone would do it.
Itâs funny people would always say âdonât look into the Utah jazz body language on the benchâ when Mitchell and Gobert were still there.
Especially the whole âpasses to Gobertâ fiasco. It led to them both being traded but back then people wanted to say âitâs nothing, itâs what teams doâ lol
This video was clearly made before Zion of him being outđ
Ur last video has no audio
If the Jazz keep improving the next couple years with the ammo from this trade, the Gobert to T'Wolves deal could go down in history as historically bad, like Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings bad.
Rudy still getting slander. He's still who he was, but Minnesota has zero understanding of how to use him.
Damn! Wilt was dominant in his day! Half that top 10 list was just him!!
8.07 You mean 3 pointers are more valued more then ever. Never needed to be a star just to shoot well from 3, dating back to the 1st implementation of the 3 point line in the 80s.
I dont blame the knicks for not trading for dmitch. Not that he's not an amazing player, but idk if the knicks are a dmitch away from true contention, they seem more likely to be 3 good draft picks away. If they traded for him they'd prolly be more like the hawks than the cavs.
The season still early. Spida is doing great stats wise this season but can he bring the ring to Cleveland. Time will tell.

The day I knew Don was him was when they lost their first playoff series and Don did not wallow in defeat but started getting at himself and started getting at his teammates that next season will be better, dude went on the up his game and done every season since...
Don is not a defensive liability, he is just an easier target on the court when you have better defenders or when he is the shorter guy like what Steph went through most of his career.
people are just too stuck up on stats cause they can't process what they see out on court without it,
stats are nice but they ain't shit without a the story to make them make sense...
The issue with NBA media and fans is they are too stuck on player to judge players abilities properly... For me I judge based on position and height, but unlike other fans I don't discount shorter players cause of their height I judge them against other players their height makes my judgement of a player less bias and lets me see them for who they are...
Steph for example since 2015 was a top 30 defensive player by height out of players ranged 6'0-6'4 but as soon as you went to 6'5+ he ranked in the lower parts of the top 100 which is high for a 6'3 guard these stats put in things like positioning, Forced passes and those stats you don't see on a stats sheets unless you search for them.
Ants my point is defensive players shouldn't be judged on good they are at filling up a stat sheet for Blocks and rebounds but how good of a breaker they are like how Jrue is.
Lol holy shit. I had no idea that aside from wilts 100, he also has like 3-4 games with 73...đł. The list is pretty much 60% all him. Man, I feel wilt don't get enough love
