This is quite possibly my favourite "What's In My Bag" ever...such breadth and love pouring out for pure music....Jon is ace.
Could not agree more. Also, I got a couple new records to hear. Which is nice.
Meh. He doesn't seem to be well versed when it comes to other genres.
Jon is such a wholesome dude. Great picks too!
i'm mostly unfamiliar with Jon Baptiste but i love how spiritually he hears, feels, and discusses the music.
and him describing the Chi-Lites as 11pm party music is a complete bullseye.
Never thought of Barbershop bands being the original boybands...UNTIL NOW!!!Such a varied choice of music.
I have a whole new level of respect for him. Wow. He is so diversified musically. Very impressive.
Such a sweet, genuine, loving-of-life individual.
He, simply, radiates.
LOVE, Jon!
💖
Not only Jon incredibly beautiful and so talented, he has an impeccable music taste. I would love to sit and listen to music with him all night x
Great taste, deep understanding, precise insights. Got to love this guy.
Wow! Huge respect for Jon, music from 'The Mills Brothers' to the Country 'Bakersfield' boxset. Love it Jon!!
Saw his name and knew he would be great. And yes, he was. The guy is made of music!
This series is phenomenal and really puts music appreciation on an all new level. Please keep supporting your local music stores, especially Amoeba!!! ❤
MJ's Dangerous album is so so underrated... "I Can't Let Her Get Away" and "Jam" CHEF'S KISS!!
Jon's got such a great energy to him. Great vid
Damn Jon is such a quality individual, my fave one of these so far.
I love that Jon is showing the dangerous album some love, such an underrated album.
A true music lover.
Very pleasant episode, with a very pleasant person.
S-Tier What’s in my Bag episode 🙏
True musicians find love and inspiration from all types of music. Great picks! And great taste.
Great stuff. Love this man's energy.🇬🇧
Enjoyed it. What a beautiful human being.
This was a great guest! Super cool selections.
Thanks for The Mills Bros tip, Jon, and of course, the Pops & Co. reminder. Where da ladies?? 😉
Nice - thank you Jon and Amoeba for sharing such tasteful, deep and interesting choices.
Yes! What a shining beam of light. Love JB
Man has a refreshing taste 🤙🏼🤙🏼
buying albums to give them to people whenever the moment appeals, this is it
Great picks, you can tell Jon Batiste is just a fan of music across the board.
I think I just fell in love with Jon Batiste.
LOL. I'm two years in.💯🥰
@Ijgilbert❤
These are some gemz for real 🔥
Really inspiring person
I've watched this twice. I loved the way he shared this.
This is the first time in these series that an artist I like chooses mostly music I'm not the biggest fan of, but his take on Sinatra was really nice!
The man is music
Dangerous is a great choice, my favourite MJ album too. Fair to say it's a bit underrated.
This was soooo wholesome.
Very knowledgeable. Lots of things for me to explore.
What a beautiful menagerie of art he picked up. 👌🏾💕✨️
blink-182 was a welcomed surprise
That new anohni album is a stunner.
Damn these are some amazing picks
I’d love to see a stealth Amoeba set with Jon, Paul McCartney-style.
He is so handsome 😢
Drain is a killer band and this is by far one of the BEST What's In My Bag!!!!
JON! 😍😍😍
@shawnthompson940❤
great
he is my age, no doubt, don't need to check it, lot's of nostalgia, i really connected when he talked about the mos def album
Jon is someone who lives and breathes music
I would love to know if Jon has ever listened to Chief Adjuah (a jazz trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist) -- he brings the culture of New Orleans and blends it into a new musical world .
Classy guy🤘
I totally forgot about Anohni (formerly Antony) and the Johnsons. Used to have an interesting song I thought was depressing, but beautiful. Tons of great picks across many genres
love him
@alissajolie6523♥
He picked the entire shop 😂
i just missed this dude i went in there the day after he did his signing event i think
❤
Sault 👌
No one should be that cool and that smart
I don’t know Jon but he seems like a dude you want in your crew
Did not have Blink 182 on my bingo card.
😍😋
❤ ✿❧🌿❧✿ ❤
Great collection!
Any new acts that we can “listen to the album and sing every song in a week”?
I don’t know about that blink 182 lol. But the rest yeah I’ll put that shit in my bag.
Jesus! Buy the whole store why don't you?
After Will Smiths little slap performance i don't know how anyone can watch Fresh Prince again
Some interesting picks here, Dangerous is also my favourite MJ album, this red haired Australian white boy played that cd to death back in the day, i know every word.
Good greif, that's one beautiful man.
My sentiments exactly.🥰😍💯
Bulk and White - MJ / hilarious spelling fail.
woof. mj child f'er? You can sing real good.
Interesting re Michael’s Dangerous, not most peoples’ fav.
Is he infront of a green screen?
1."BALCK OR WHITE" by Michael Jackson
2. Scapegoat by ANOHNI and the Johnsons was released in 2023, not 2003
Who is editing the cutaways?
Weezer for pop punk.
6:35
This is why, as a trans woman, I love this man! 🥹🥹😭😭❤️❤️
Did he just go to Amoeba in his underwear?
Jon Baptiste has pretty basic tastes, but I gotta hand it to him for buying box sets of doo wop, vocal groups, and bakersfield sound..... but life is too damn short for blink 182 and michael jackson
Always time to absorb the singular genius of Michael Jackson! C'mon now! I agree with ya about Blink 182, though. The Blink 182 pick messed with my head!
Oh, you're one of those people. I wouldn't hate on Blink 182 being a pop punk kid from that time but nobody has the right to look down on any of MJ's 80s run.
Blink 182 Green Fay Do Doubt are crap pseudo punk pop bands. Check out Black Flag, SS Decontrol, Minor Threat, Discharge, Bad Brains.
McCartney, maybe D'angelo (it should be pronounce "dangelo" not D-Angelo), Mills Bros, the compilation of R&B (the original, not that sh¨t of today's charts), Anhony, Louis Armstrong.
I can live without the other's music. For real, I expected very much of Jon Batiste. I mean a lot more in taste for music.
I could have bet hard for more jazz and at least an album by Prince.
Such a disappointment!
@oskarobit in what world is "dangelo" the pronunciation for D'Angelo? Jon Batiste did that the right way.
But the pics he chose are weak.
@@mella9128 Not worlds, languages. "Angelo" sounds Italian to me (angel). "De Angelo" equals D'Angelo. It works as the Scottish Mac or the Irish O'. Search in YT : how to pronounce D'Angelo Italian.
I'm not completely sure, but I think in British English is pronounced as I said.
@@oskarobit I've seen a lot of interviews, musicians talking about him, some with himself, there is no doubt about the issue, believe me, anyway, he's a great musician, his album "Voodoo" is my favorite album
@@mella9128 I don't doubt about it, but was just talking about the pronunciation of the name D'angelo and the strange choices of Jon Baptiste. I mean, my impression that the choices he made sounded weird to me coming from a musician like Jon Baptiste. I feel like he was choosing some kind of "low profile" picks. It's a bit difficult to me to express this feeling as I'm not a native English speaker.
Who?
You're so edgy
so boring! put some real musicians on please
