  • Is the LEAN on your bike making you nervous, fearing that one day you'll approach it only to find a bent kickstand and your beloved motorcycle helplessly lying on its side?!
In this video I'll share my process of making a +2 inch EXTENDED kickstand for my Harley Davidson, ensuring that even if you're new to metalworking, you'll feel confident tackling this modification project. Building a new kickstand for my Harley Sportster was driven by two primary goals: making the lean LESS aggressive and adding a touch of personal style to the motorbike.
This DIY is a little more complicated than some of my other videos, but this is still a modification anyone can do from home with some basic materials, basic hand tools and a welder to make your motorcycle unique.
The result will drastically change the look of your motorcycle and if you decided to give it a try and have any questions, feel free to ask me my thoughts in the comments!

As far as extended stands go, '89 to '03 XLH stands are longer than Rubbermount ('04 on) ones. My '06 Roadster now has a1'' extended for a pre-rubbermount Sporty as I fitted 340mm shocks on the rear and Trackerdie extended dampertubes on the forks raising the whole bike.
There are many different lengths for rubbermounts - the longest was for the'04 to '06 Roadsters(my bike) but it wasn't long enough -reckonI might just make one myself after seeing your vid as the extended '89 to'03 is stilla bit short.
    G'day from England mate !

Hey mate I appreciate your support all the way from England! Glad to hear my videos are helping people get inspired to work on their bikes!
My kickstand was the standard but after I purchased it I realised it was a bit bent so I thought why not make one and throw it on there, the hardest part was getting it spaced right to flick back up after the weight was off the kick stand. Let me know how you go with yours.

How much did you extend it ? ,I just got done building my street tracker and can’t even use my kickstand it falls over, I’m thinking maybe 3-4 inches, I have 15 inch rear shocks and an inverted 4 over front end it sits nice just can’t use the kickstand ha

From memory I extended it 2 inches to make it 9 inches as the stock is about 5 inches I believe. Even with my stock set up I probably could have gone another 1-2 inches without it looking too weird, so I’m sure you would be able to go 4. Even prop the bike up on something so it’s sitting and the angle you want it and measure out how far the kickstand is off the ground and work from there.

I can’t remember where I got it from, I think it’s just a local automotive store. It’s nothing special just a mid range one.
