I am from Kenya but moved to the UK a couple of years ago and get asked questions like this a lot and use your videos as inspiration to give my answers to these truly crazy questions
OMG I visited Egypt in China last year and it was mesmerizing! Although it took a while to pluck iPhones since those weren't ripe in Egypt as there were no rains that season. Although we did gather together in the city centre and cried our eyes out on a bowl to pour the water to rippen the iphones.
The first time I went to London in 1975, I was asked if we rode elephants to school. When I relocated to the States in 2003 and said I was from South Africa, these are some of the questions that some asked me. "Do you know John in Kenya?" "Which state is South Africa in?" "Yes, but which country in South Africa are you from?" "Why do you pretend to have an accent?" "Is Nigeria the capital of Africa?" "What is a country in Africa?" "You can't be from Africa. You're white." And so on. I no longer live in the States.

I don't know where these questions come from, but I can only imagine all the National Geographic videos that only depict Africa as a place with wild animals, forests, small villages, and tribes living in the wild. I guess people miss the parts where they mention that most of the places shown are *preserves*. Another follow from me.

These comments definitely come from all of destitute imagery shown of people living in mud houses with flies on their noses. The images may not have even been filmed in any of the African countries, but still depicted as such to elicit whatever response they (the author/narrator) were targeting at that time.

I spent a year in the US with my family back in 1990 and got asked a lot of similar questions - and we're not even from Africa, we're from Eastern Europe :) Also funny is the other end of the spectrum - the people who assumed that everything was exactly the same as in the US (paying in dollars, having the same tv channels, etc.)

In 1999 ice cream was risky to eat ice cream in a lot of countries. I remember in kenya going to Tratoria, a westernized restaurant, making it "safe" for our digestion. I went with a classmate and she was so excited for a milk shake, she was homesick. When the server proceeded to offer her shaken milk it was a shock to her and funny af to me. 😂

I am a South Indian who lived in Japan for a few years. People were surprised that we had ice cream in India. "Isn't it too hot for ice cream?" I explained that even in Northern Japan there would be no ice cream in the summer without electricity. People would say "Yes of course, that makes sense!"

Hi Charity, it would be helpful if you give some contexts to the questions you pose in your videos. Who asks them? Where do they come from? The answers are out of context. I enjoy and understand the cynical outlook just not what's bringing it on.
Do people really ask all these questions or U make up some to create content... It's funny but I am curious are all of them based on real questions people ask? (I am aware that people from all over the world ask "stupid" questions) ! Not to take that spotlight but I was questioned by some Africans (can't remember which country) about my small country in the Caribbean while in Canada. I was asked about the population when I said 80K I was asked if I knew everyone... I was also told "So u don't have nor need any police" Then I was asked what kind of animals we have, and I said "cows, horses, donkeys, dogs" Then the laughter began, and was told no I mean animals so I started again Cows Horse .... then they ask if I don't have real animals like lions elephants, etc it happens everywhere once in a while and more to some countries... anyhoo I love ur content !!!

She was asking me if africans got couch 🛋️ 😂. She literally asked if we got brush 🪥 . The worst part is when she asked if we got toothpaste and brought out colgate for me 😂 SMH 🙄! One day i got tired and told her that there's nothing she will find in America that she can not find in any African countries.
