Shows you that simulators aren't a replacements for real life testing
Nobody has claimed that simulators can 100% replace real life testing in F1.
They do partially replace it though.
Sims are generally useful for learning track layouts and practicing. But I think it can work for basic car control and generating setup ideas. Obviously ground effect is incredibly difficult to simulate though, but the curb thing is quite strange.
@@ags911 simulators aren't just limited to driver sims in F1. That's the tip of the iceberg of simulation.
They've never been a replacement. Merely an alternative because they aren't allowed unlimited real life testing like they used to.
@@B__L â@B__L it would be impossible to design an f1 car with modern performance if only testing was allowed.
The simulations make f1 performance possible.
no 2024 sneaky parts allowed but F1 video games seaked into this video huh
The Race has done it before on other articles. My guess is that when they run out of whatever footage they have (be it from filming days for teams or photos) just whip out the âââgoodâââ olâ F1 Codies games for footage.
@@sandalogaming6766 yeah, you have a point. Might be a challenge to get 2-year-old footage of Max testing, specially since that was the 1st year of those regulations.
would you rather a slideshow or some other unrelated footage?
Not every single lap and test gets filmed.
@@viniciusmonteiro6641 it wasnt a two year old test, it was testing a two year old car. The test happened just a few days before Spain this year.
@@NomadUniverse I'd rather have unrelated real footage instead, oh for sure
I love this. Trying stuff like this to get an endge
I still strongly believe in bringing back the old super complex suspensions from before the 2022 regulations. It is now more than ever that these cars need them. Those old cars rode better and just looked faster and more on rails than the current cars. Just watch a clip of the old cars going over the curbs at imola, specifically the chicane, and you will see how much better those cars were over bumps
Having the FRIC or the active suspension back would be a cool recipe for a development war that can trickle down for road use
Isnât possible with the floor
The older cars are slower in many corners given the suspension was softer. You can see this in old rear end photos with this year/2023 for comparison. Corner exit was always a slow time for those cars as they would squat and heave from side to side under acceleration. This years/&2023 are far stiffer and get far more power to the road, so much so that many drivers are having a hard time controlling a Wiley rear end that likes to step out on them. Couple that with an under steers front end and you have a hard time having any confidence in the car. Merc is finally getting their act together now. More compliant rear end with a pointier front end.
@@Giraffe537exactly dude. i love f1 because of the innovation and the rewards we can reap from development wars.
I didn't know that changing parts on an old car isn't allowed for testing...
Itâs more like usage of new car parts isnât allowed than modifying old cars
If it were allowed then it would be a huge loophole for teams to test new parts on their platforms without running up the cost cap or testing time..
@@MrEo89 yeah but that doesnt make sense, they could pretend to have a nice ''day off'' with the old cars on some track, who can say otherwise? teams usually sell some of the cars from previous years and could be a ''friend'' of max and him just ''casually'' driving the car, lmao
And all the parts on the old car has to have been previously run in a race or official test session during the season that car was actively raced.
@@henriquee67 Now that is the craziest loophole I've ever heard!
It's those zero pods i tells ya! THE ZERO PODDDDSSSS đ

Max will do anything needed to get the best results.. that is who he is
He still deliberately takes out his competitors. That is who he is
2022 was 2 years ago...
Now I feel old
Shows his drive to be the best. Ugh i want that RB19 as a center piece in my living room. Best damn racing car i bet I'll see in my life time. Gaps of 30s , max reading the Sunday paper up front. This year though the car is not as good but max looks to be having allot more fun. Most i think I've seen him smile and joke around. Like racing has become more fun with the new challenges
Any f1 car for me would be a great art piece in my living room
It shows how good he is when this seasons model has these issues and he is continuing to dominate.
Newey isnât there to solve the issue.
đą
Shouldâve given him more credit for his work and just let him use drawing boards rather than be forced to use computers
Let Checo test his cars... Dude wasn't the same dude after Miami
Iâm conflicted. I like Max and Red Bull, but Iâm not a fan of domination. It was more satisfying watching him barely beating out Lando (who I I also like). Itâs good for F1 to have these close races, but Iâm sure Red Bull prefers their 40 second wins lol.
F1 was better in unlimited testing time's. I'm surprised that they haven't looked at testing rules now we have budget caps, that would limit the amount of testing can be done. It would be nice for fans to see the cars at the track on a none race weekends.
Took 1 month for Red bull to look at old Adrian Newye cars to help.
Remember all the talk about disregarding Adrian and him being not happy about that.
Guess what since Adrian left they haven't been fastest overall
The RB18 was more wache than newey, just like the RB19 and RB20
He hasnt left yet
hes still there lol
Yes Newey is still there but his involvement has been reduced significantly, that's what they called "gardening leave". Lets see how good this Wache guy from 2025 onward without Newey
He was visiting Aston Martin a few weeks ago, not sure heâs busy fixing this nonsense lol.
The older 2022 RB18 used the heavier chassis package to help eliminate the bouncing ground effect. This lighter car clearly doesn't ride curb and understeer move than both RB18 and dominant 2019 car.
The worry for RedBull is that the other teams have gone in the direction of the proven RB19 car because it works. And so Verstappen grip on his 4th title is a worry towards the latter half of season because the RB19 was pretty much perfect.
I'm guessing Verstappen is worried about losing his back-to-back title legacy of potentially becoming the 2nd driver to win 4 titles back-to-back.
I don't think Verstappen cares about getting 7 or 8 titles but he would like to maintain his own F1 legacy of the most back-to-back title wins.
Would be unprecedented if he got 5 titles back to back. Definitely won't get 6 titles with the new 2026 regs that would favor Ferrari and Mercedes.
*4th driver đ, and Schumacher won 5 titles back to back
Fangio, Vettel, Hamilton: 4 in a row
Schumacher: 5 in a row
Dude Schumacher literally took 5 champs in a row this century
How do the new regs favour Ferrari and Mercedes? Because the only thing I know is Red Bull are making their own power units for the first time so that could be their main weakness.
@@ags911yeah the 2026 refs reset the power unit development so itâs anybodyâs game at that point

The funny is Ferrari complain when we know this Ferrari get Perrarli test and another test and still complain about other team lol
Incredible commitment from Verstappen. You wouldn't see Lewis testing the 2022 car to help his team improve the 2024 car.
Am sure according to you despite Lewis doing all experimental setups 2022 and the start of 2024 is just an excuse
Completely irrelevant but I guess you like having Verstappen high up your arse

Max doing side quests now..
Nah, heâs on the main quest with hard difficulty now. Last few years, Neweyâs expertise made the game easy. Since Miami when they announced the departure, RBâs been on the decline with others catching.
@@ThatguyWitjokes actually the car is at its limit since 2022/23 the others just caught up with them. Newey since then working on the valkerie program since 2022/23 because the bull was maximum in its class within the regulations.

@@ThatguyWitjokes they didn't slip back. They actually improved. The rest just caught up quicker. Look it up with laptimes this year and last year.
Why are they acting like it isnt still the best car. Its still the fasted by admittedly a much smaller margin, but also by far still the best on its tyres

Newey is gone for 5 months, and the entire team is in shits
In shits while winning races without newey lmfao newey isnt even the core designer
with your logic, Newey would have left before 2023 btw. Hate to break it to you, but hes involved in the "shitcar" thats running around rn. Only thing keeping that pile ahead is Verstappen and the engine, not the aero
Newey is still working on the RB20 though dude... at Japan he was talking about how their small upgrade to the underside guides on the wing mirror didn't bring a huge performance boost but is a step towards bigger upgrades.
are we already just ignoring the fact that Newey is still an RBR employee?
@@danangboyzz3174 idk where you got the idea that the aero sucks on the RB20 but that isn't the case, at aero dependent tracks is has been incredibly competitive, class of the field even, its Achilles heel is tracks that require both aero and heavy curb usage, at which point their aero advantage is degraded because they can't run the car as low which erodes their lead.
its probably got the best aero package since these regs hit, the thing holding it back so much is the fundamental aspect of its design, especially now that the FIA wants more street tracks which always include a heavy dose of curbing.
the car is great, the concept is strong but this has always been as issue with ground effect, it took two years but every team that started off down a higher ride height concept has risen to the point RB has been at since 2022.
what you're seeing now isn't a car with shitty aero, it's a very strong car with very strong aero but with a very exploitable disadvantage, even with that disadvantage RB still has 0.5% pace advantage at most tracks & that is the mathematical minimum you need to win a championship. we'll see how long that disadvantage lasts though given what was talked about publicly it seems that the aero from the floor can or has been causing suspension failures and knowing what the problem is always ends up being like half the battle.
I think you guys are forgetting that the RB's since 2022 have never rode the curbs as well as other teams, Imola 2022 demonstrated this perfectly, where Leclerc was taking all the curb and using them to initiate rotation Verstappen initiating rotation on corner entry, clipping the lower part of the curb & running tighter lines out of most corners especially the final chicane going into the sweeping back straight.
where curbing is more lethal than helpful or just much more mild the RB20 is pretty dominant.
this isn't even a new to the 2020s issue, even in the late 70s and early 80s you'd see what was the class of the field just lose all it's pace seemingly out of nowhere, except back then it was more just the bumps of the circuit that forced higher ride heights, hurting some cars more than others.
hell even the williams fw15c had similar issues especially when it rained.

@@oussamabendakir1453 it is, I think he doesn't just make one lap, he used the car for a day, lap by lap, by lap, by lap. If this year car is worse then they have to act accordingly.
