Following this diligently!
:D
No Lie!!
Nice! Have always wondered how it's done
Great video man didn’t know you had one of these bad boys
thanks man, I just bought a second one hahahaha💸💸💸💸💸
I’ll be keeping a close eye on this. Shame most of these units are dead.
This is still a must have on my list and now that retro gaming is hot I get its still super expensive with modders wanting to get their damn hands on the thing. Would be hella better if were PS3 with blu-ray instead
Hello, I have a psx that the IR connector came out when I had it on and it generated a cut. Now when connected to the current it only emits a constant beep. Do you know what could be wrong?
Sorry for slow reply, does it do it when the cable is unplugged also?
Constant beep isn’t a failure mode of the PSX iirc
Sounds like something got shorted
How did you get it apart? it seems to be stuck for me on one side it just won't come apart.
Pull off the big rubber feet on the side rails and use a long flat too to pop the metal tab holding the grey plastic side on.
They slide off.
Then remove all the screws holding the metal side rails on.
Then remove screws on the underside like normal ps2
The top cover will come off, be careful most models have flex cables attached still for led
I just successfully installed a modbo on my desr 5000 with alternate point and updated from 1.06 to 1.31
Took mine apart earlier, thanks for the video :D mine blinks like that, has a yellow and two red lights on the back and will only show the psx logo if i hold the eject button when putting power to it :P Excited to see the progress on yours!
there we go, black screen is where i am so must be the hdd :p
i have a 40gb ps2 hdd i use in my fat boy with hdloader, you think that will help me? it has probably been formatted since i got it but im not sure
so i just went to pull the hard drive and the power is not connected XD
Yew yew new episode awesome
I bought one, but it doesn't read the discs, is it possible that it just needs laser cleaning, is it easy to open to check the laser?
Laser is a pain to get to
There are two lasers one for XMB mode and one for ps2 mode
XMB laser is always used first to detect media type (when in XMB mode which it usually is) if it’s bad it won’t read anything
i have a problem with my psx DESR 5700 i bought as defected a while ago. Managed to boot it up with the psx logo, then when the little blue ball in the upper right corner pulsing (loading the xmb menu?) is finish it goes to black screen and nothing more happens. What could be the issue? software/hdd or something else?
press menu on the front of the unit, it defaults to tv tuner
@@Slot1Gamer sadly that dosnt working 😕😢🤔is the front panel broke in some way? It seems that it the warranty sticker has been lifted once
I’m trying to fix mine aswell it did’t power on, F4001 fuse was blown along with a damage IR ribbon flex. Looks like the previous owner worked on it and forgot to tape it to the panel. I replaced the blown F4001 fuse aswell its damaged ir ribbon cable along with the top panel ribbon and i managed to get it to power on but i get the Hard Error Flashing Red and Green Light. It turns on and the HDD Access led also does turn on from time to time. Not sure what’s causing it. The caps on the PSU look good.
Could be a bad flex, ones I’ve worked on if the sub pcb isn’t connected properly you’ll get that error, sometimes a message on the screen saying take to service
@@Slot1Gamer I already replaced the flex for sub board mounted to the case and it still gives me the same problem. I do not get anything on screen. Perhaps it another flex or another fuse hidden somewhere.
Hello friend, I follow your channel for a long time, I managed to buy a psx dvr, my fear is the famous hard disk if it dies, the console is the same, there is a way to change the hard disk, install a better one or an SSD for example to extend the life of this console?
Hello, you can swap the HDD for the offical 20gb or 40gb Sony drive that was bundled with some ps2 games
You can try to copy the os files back to the drive, you need to partition the hdd same way as the psx and put the files in the correct partition
How did you get past regional lock?
Only in ps2 mode
Using patched backups
thanks for skipping that part @3:15, real useful on old plastic
Anyone have a vid of fixing the disc drive
Lukemorse1 had one looong time ago
But FYI on the stock system the DVR pickup reads all discs first, so if that isn’t working no discs will read.
If you are loaded into ps2 mode, say using fmcb and Ulaunch it “should” use the ps2 pickup :)
Hope that helps
@@Slot1Gamer no it's the drive it won't take the disc all the way in
Does it sound like the rollers are moving
@@Slot1Gamer goes like 90% in then pushes the disc out then makes a lot of noise
Part 2 is up here: czcams.com/video/OG_tFNFEd_M/video.html
I need to change hard disk on it
There is a ide emulator coming out that will do that it’s not cheap though
I’m going to pre order a new ps5 with a CD player slot
nice
Im only here to tell u, that the thumbnail looks like Minecraft
If somebody only knew how to hack the internall hdd that married to the unit itslef, so it can be unlock converted to ssd upgrade
We understand how it’s protected but it requires reverse engineering the DVRP
There are two parts to disk recognition (on the disk)
The security sector data and drive firmware
These both require at least something like a PC3000 to even start working it out
The 20gb Sony branded disks for ps2 have all the required stuff actually but also require a bit of manipulation to get the XMB running
