This is seriously one of the most creative and unique sounding guitar playing not only in black metal, but the whole metal genre overall. Every single one of these riffs is distinctive, recognizable and just reeks Inquisition. This band has truly invented their own sound basically since the first album. You can tell from the first seconds of every LP that it's Inquisition, yet every album is different and puts accents elsewhere. The combination of fast, outrageous playing, mid-paced chugging and those slow pulled chords - at times melancholic, other times totally twisted and alien like in many songs of "Obscure Verses for the Multiverse" album, probably my favorite - all that makes for THAT sound. And I know "groove" isn't the most liked and accurate term among the community of more "serious" side of metal (not to sound elitist, but those listening to black metal on daily basis probably know what I mean), but man you can't deny this band has it. It's fucking catchy but not in a irritating and intended way, it's just emerges naturally and sounds as it is. And on top of it all you have THESE vocals - it's resembles more spoken word than singing, hangs around the almost laughable side, sometimes so over the top that it becomes grotesque - yet they somehow fit so much and seem to be incorporated in a perfect manner, as if this voice was born to exist for this band.
I'm watching this video for a second time now. The first time was the last new year's eve when I was working abroad in Germany and having basically no one to drink or party with. And you know what? This was seriously one of the better ones and I spent that night wonderfully without a single drink, having much fun. I always liked Inquisition, especially their much acclaimed "Ominuous Doctrines..." but man, I'm rediscovering this band now and it's just amazing how much excellent content there is to embrace.

Well said. Inquisition is one of those bands that always keeps on giving no matter which I album I decide to spontaneously listen to. From their inception upto this day, the consistency is fully present and never goes out of bounds into something that doesn't resemble the band. For some people, posers included, Inquisition happens to be one of those bands they throw in to a conversation based on the fact that these guys are a 2 piece band which somehow makes them kvlt? Others compare the vocal style to the likeness of Abbath and give Dagon shit. In reality, Dagon's voice is absolutely unique and a definitive feature of the whole Inquisition sound, much like how Abbath's vocals perfectly fits into Immortal. Both totally different but working towards the same goal.
As a Drummer, I love how Incubus lets those mesmerising riffs stand out and breath while still finding ways to incorporate unrelenting assaults on the skins when needed. He has a very unique drumming style, its standard stuff of course but somehow very personal. Much like how anyone who is not a complete beginer at playing guitar can pull off the solo to something like Another Brick in the Wall but only Gilmour can truly "play" it with such finesse and emotion. Perhaps that wasn't the best example but I think I got my point across.
Overall, Inquisition is among my favourite bands to just sit back and relax to and it's all because the band has yet to dissapoint me with a bad song or an album.
