Those twins were truly clueless, but after Gordon visited they actually stayed in business for another 8 years - a hugely successful turn compared to many others on KN. Even when they sold the restaurant, the new ownership retained the decor & name. They did well for themselves
This episode had me crying. I was so happy to learn they had a successful business after Gordon helped them.
They're actually really kind guys from what I've heard.
They were clueless, but didn't have the ego most owners on this show have. They wanted so badly to do well, I think that's why they succeeded with a little direction.
The boys just needed a kick in the ass to straighten up is all and gordon sure did gave it to them.
I truly feel for them. Stuck on a sinking boat with no idea how to steer it right, until someone helps them find the right way. All they needed was to be taught.

I guess I assume if it's any good he'll share it with the camera men.
Although since they usually know exactly how it was made and would turn it down, yeah, it does seem a huge waste.
think he does that to test the quality. cuz if its just a single slice thats easier to fake as it can be reheated. but if you order a full pizza you have to make it from scratch. i mean unless your using frozen story bought pizza. thought tbh most of the pizza's from kitchen nightmare can be topped by store bought pizza XD

He does it on purpose to try and stress the kitchen to test how they do under pressure and as a side effect the quality of the food usually drops and makes it more interesting for TV since it gives him more to make fun of

Because he knows who's are the ones at fault, Waiters are just doing their job and taking bullets for the lazy owners.
That’s because waiters don’t know anything and sometimes they are threatened by the owners and they couldn’t do anything
Usually the waiters do their job well, they are polite and serve their customers like they should, so no problem with them.
The servers have no control over any aspect of the food except ordering and running though, so that kinda checks out
he knows whos responsible for the food, yelling at the servers is never gonna help

SO WEIRD!! I was mimed by some kidnappers; craziest experience ever. They put me in a box; I couldn’t see it, but they made sure I knew it was there.
Me too, but luckily for me the police where on to them. One hung himself with an invisible rope to avoid prosecution. The other two were locked away in an invisible box until they find their way out. Apparently, that takes a while.
I really appreciate the way he addresses the waiters. He never avoids asking them the hard questions about what they've served, but never yells at them as if they're the ones who prepared the food.
Yep it's a good call. He knows the servers are more willing to list the problems than the owners who are often too proud/full of ego to tell Gordon what's going on.
Everyone says this. It's basic common sense. No one deserves a medal for treating people properly

And while I agree with you that in general, people shouldn’t be rewarded for having basic kindness, it is also okay to point out kindness where you see it, because we live in a world that is sorely lacking it. It’s also just a CZcams comment, this isn’t a prize and Gordon isn’t even going to see it. I was just leaving a nice comment.
@@DrJ-hx7wv it should be but you would be surprised how many people yell at the waiters when their order gets messed up. its a huge amount. and if your at a failing restaurant they would get yelled at more than in a successful one. kitchen nightmares are all failing ones so the waiters most likely get yelled at a lot and i wouldnt be surprised if its daily. so gordon being nice to them should be praised as most would need the relief and kindness of someone as important as gordon. your view is too simple and you ignore all the important things.
@@DrJ-hx7wv I disagree. If someone goes out of their way to be polite and accepting they should get praise, because it really isn’t common sense for everyone. A lot of people are awful, especially to servers. So Gordon should get credit for going out of his way to respect them

The first restaurant (Italian) with the twin brothers is one of the few restaurants that had success and remained open after Gordon left.

I'm convinced there was some confusion on temperature when he learned to cook, that's why food in a broken fridge and open mayo in heat don't alarm him.

The one thing that drives me insane is why these owners, when they sign up for the show, don’t immediately do a deep clean. It’s not as if they don’t know Gordon is coming.

I cant say Jim was in the right at ALL but I respect him for how immediately he owned up to the responsibility of cleaning and straight up said he wasn't doing it enough, as soon as Gordon asked. No excuses as to why he didn't actually clean, but not denying its an issue is not the worst start.

i do like how the twins were portrayed as lazy and uninterested in the restaurant, which they kinda were, but they are the rare case were they actually did lose the ambition and hope in the restaurant, as soon as Gordon gave them that back they pulled their pants up and actually managed to make a good restaurant, they only closed down due to personal health reasons YEARS later.
