Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny but I actually didn't like it. Don't get me wrong in normal circumstances a man doing that would be hilarious...but...Guilliman isn't a man. He's a primarch and I would expect him to be able to control his dexterity to compensate for the hindrance of the armor. I thought it made him too human. I still really enjoyed this, I only wish it went through the whole thing though. I know it nearly kills him from listening to Dark Imperium but he's talking about it in hindsight. I want to "witness" it myself.

I feel sorry for Sicarius. He does his best to serve his Primarch. A demigod he has been taught to venerate his entire life. Only for Guilliman to be a depressed man out of place, living in an Imperium very different to the one he knew. Whilst Sicarius can’t seem to relate to him and seems to be quite redundant when performing his duties. Sicarius was taught like all Ultramarines to be completely stoic, obedient to doctrine and loyal, but he can’t seem to even share Guilliman’s sense of humour. There seems to significant cultural difference between the two.

Guilliman is alread free of the armour in "Dark Imperium", which happens at the end of Indomitus Crusade and right before he returns to Ultramar to face Mortarion.
He says that he wore the armour "for years", not "decades" or "a century", though that long would've passed if he was in it for the entirety of the Crusade.
In my opinion, this happened less than a decade after Roboute was revived.

The timeline of the Plague war books has been softly retconned from a century to a decade. In the Plague War series, he does wear casual wear, but taking off the armour hurts.
Like weening off caffeine or alcohol, over weeks and months Guilliman took the armour off for very short periods of time and allowed his body to fight off the lingering toxins bit by bit, before he could go about his admin duties without it. At least, that's what I understand from the books.

This story couldn't be set after the Plague Wars. It must take place prior to the Devastation of Baal. In the aftermath of that Battle against the Tyranids, when Roboute Guilliman speaks with Dante and names him regent of Imperium Nihilus, Guilliman is dressed in Robes. He is out of his armor during this event back during the Indomitus Crusade.

This book is about su1cide. As crazy as it sounds: the farseer told Roboute he was wounded on what was past his flesh, his soul. The armor stabilizes exactly that. If he takes the armor off, he may physically survive (he doesn't need the physical part of the life support anymore), but his soul would have to process alone the brunt of what happened and he'd emotionally break down into sadness that would kill him, as in su1cide. Crazy, ham. The armor of fate is antidepressive medicine, pretty much.
