Alan don't let the comment naysayers get to you. The next time someone comments that you don't have a farm, just tell them you have a farm of the heart. You raise and sell horses, rescue horses, Golden Doodles, goats, etc which brings happiness to your heart and mine, who is just a subscriber. You are into animal husbandry and as long as that pleases God, you don't have to bother with what others say. We're here for you amigo.
Yes!!! 🎉💞
amen 🙏
Well said.
it's a hobby farm. Not large enough to qualify for Ag property tax exemptions.
Property taxes are robbing the over all budget.
The dirt looks great and a truck farm would probably actually do well.
Amen❤
One tip I would have for you as someone who has had to rebuild pasture, is to let that pasture grow all summer, and head out to seed and grow a good root system before you turn horses out on it. Late in September would be good, if you can. Otherwise the grasses won't root well and it will get torn up and the pasture will go to weeds. Will be praying for proper rainfall for you.
Your farm is what my family has always called a horse farm. I think it's the best kind of farm, second to none!!! I love it when you film your goats and donkey too. The donkey is adorable and the goats are always kidding around (I know that was a very bad joke) ! I love your family 💕, you're so kind and generous, hard working and conscientious. I will miss Blake a lot. He's such a good 🐴🐎 horse man.I know he's going on what's really the chance of a lifetime. May God Bless your family and all your beautiful animals!! P. S. you don't need to apologize for anything. You're all top notch.
Thanks so much
Ya know, I’d agree that you don’t have a farm. You have a RANCH! That’s way more better and more upscale! Ranchers grow animals! (And grass). Rock on my friend, put no thoughts into those bitter negative folk. They’re just envious of what you have worked so hard to build.
I will be praying that your pastures will grow well. May you get the rain you need to help them grow well! 💖🙏💖
Praying for your success with the new field project. May HIS BLESSING FALL ON YOU AND THIS FIELD so the rescue horses can be fed and cared for thru HIS GRACE. We love you and your heart for the horses. A special THANKS TO NATURE'S SEED. !!! May they be BLESSED also for their generosity ! CREATOR GOD Blesses those who follow HIM.
Amen!
There are always negative people and it doesn't matter what you think, there will always be people who will disagree with you. As long as those people don''t pay your bills or help with heath issues and family, just let it roll off your back. God has your back, guy.
You are definitely doing the best option with so few acres to plant.
Last year drought averaged 22 bails off 52 acres which was a disaster.
Get your son in law to research wet fertilizer. We make a slurry from manure here, then blow it across the fields.
It works great but it's all about timing.
You can modify a plastic water tank or industrial tank with a simple pump and hoses.
First year will be a learning experience. Be kind to yourself.
Ignore those people that don't understand the definition of Farm.
You barely have the acreage to be a hobby Ranch.
Great things happen on that plot of land that help others.
Take care and enjoy the weather.
It is amazing what you do. Love all the horses. They are beautiful! Best of luck with your planting success. God Bles❤
Don't worry what other people say as long as you do right and what makes you happy
People should leave those negative comments to themselves Alan. You do have a farm. Dang… people are sometimes just too dang mean to their fellow man. God bless all
Of what you are doing, Alan! 😊
thanks so much
Sending you so many Blessings for your Pasture Project!! What a smart idea---totally worth the investment you're making, in my opinion.
Agreed 👍
Rotation of the fields & planting is a lot of work; but, I hope it goes super well for y'all! 💞
Sure do wish you the best of luck growing your fields. I can't believe the price of hay!
I hope after it's planted and starts sprouting, you get some nice spring rains. Grass and grazing is better for horses anyway. I'm grateful to you and your family for rescuing horses-giving them feed, Vet care and love! They're already here on earth, so all of us need to help them when we can! Good on ya!
I can’t believe the price of hay either! That’s 3 X the cost of hay when I last bought hay.
We have to irrigate here in Northern California too.
We just got through 3 years of drought. This year we’ve finally got enough rain.
Gentlemens farm or hobby farm. Farms are whatever size you want them to be. Thank you for helping the horses. You grow (raise) chickens and horses and goats. You had pigs. Donkeys. I like your FARM.
Best wishes for your new venture,l hope you have much success and regarding the grass it will be so useful for the horses.
Horse Plus Humane Society has been very instrumental in helping people who rescued horses . They're very friendly ! A phone call away ♥️🌿🌼❇️🐎
I follow horse plus and they rescue from auctions and I don't know if they would be willing to help someone who sells to auctions. I know Allan doesn't do it often but to do it at all isn't good. They mostly help people with rescues or people who need euthanasia help or grants to get needed equipment for rescues. It wouldn't hurt to try though I guess.
Congratulations on the new baby God bless you all and I'll keep you in my prayers always God bless
Alan
This is amazing there telling everyone to plant and grow as much as you can so everyone can keep there animals and grow food I'm proud of you i.know you love those horses and care about what happens to them I'm afraid it's going to get bad out here but trust our God he has a plan
My Uncle John raised Angus cattle and if he was still alive, I’m pretty sure he’d say you have a farm. I think you and your family are a credit to the human race. God bless y’all.
Your horses are a credit to you Alan
Growing the fields can't be easy but economical. Love your horses!! I have 1 concern about Patches. The longer hair can be an indication of Cushings disease. If positive, Patches cannot be on pasture, especially with clover. I have a Cushings horse and it is a challenge. Good luck to you and always enjoy your upbeat faith. Thank you!!!
That has come up before. I'm hoping the cold caused. I'm sure they will do lab work if the vet thinks best after the blow out.
They will update us.
Great comment. I have been watching two other paint horses who have Cushing's and they have had to severely limit their pasture time. I don't think horses with that disease should be ridden, especially by anyone heavy or for a long time. Both mares I have watched are over 15 years, with one about 26 years, so given that Patches is 20 or so, it is a good possibility that he just needs to go to a sanctuary that can let him live out his days. I have been watching Amy on Life on Morrow Hill and Dixie on From Suits to Boots. Poor Dixie has brain cancer, so she doesn't have long. I hope Alan gets the vet to check out Patches.
God bless you Allen. I am praying for lots or water and green grass.
🎉🎉🎉🎉 Yay!! I'm so happy and excited for you all! How wonderful to have your dreams come true! You deserve it and what better way to promote your continued healing and recovery!! May the Lord bless and keep you, always!! Much love and many prayers for you!!! 🎊🎉❤❤❤❤
I love your compassion for horses!I am praying for you to have great pasture of much grass for your animals!
Thanks Allan. In a way you are are farm. A rescue farm. You and your family are doing a great service for the horses and animals that you rescue Yes seeding the grass will be a real benefit to you and the horses by cutting the feed bill.
Round bales here are 100.00ea. Good luck with your fields...sending love from Canada
God will have a special place ready for you. So special. You don't have to answer to anyone about where you live or what you do. Negative people are not worth the bother.
We love the Farm on Route 66 and you can and did call it what you wanted to❤
If you picked up the horse poop daily and put it in an assigned area, you could then use that to spread on those fields to use as fertilizer. Just another tip for you. All you would need is a small manure spreader to haul behind your tractor. Or even sell the dried manure to gardeners in your area.
I’m not a farmer but a gardener, I was thinking the same thing too!
Lol I'm sure Gold 66 didn't mind but did anyone ask Chipper? She's gotta be getting tired by now! Hope your pasture turns out great for you!
My dad was a dairy farmer Alan so I understand about making hay, you need quite a lot of machinery to do it yourself
Your idea is good about planting new grass seeds, and of course you need your irregation, which here in UK we have plenty of rain as I'm sure you know
I had my horses too, and in the winter they enjoyed there hay
I'd call it a ranch, like I do, of my 10 acres, I raise a large garden, foraging mushrooms and beneficials, chickens, eggs, and our horses, dogs and cats!
I so enjoy your channel. Don't know much about horses, but I think they are beautiful animals. I love what you and your family do - all of it! Take care and I'm wishing you success with your pasture grass project. Blessings to you and your family. 😊
I hope ya'll get rain soon. And it's good to have irrigation water rights. We are in a drought in Texas panhandle.
Woo buddy ! The pot ash tripled here in michigan and fertilizer doubled ! The sed you REALLY are blessed on! People a lot of time think of their lawn and how much they cut it not knowing about grow time for hay , and it's not justrain out of the sky and sunshine ,especially when your dirt needs nutrients AND you are in an aridczome .. it's not THAT easy !
I respect my hay guys big time and like it when they explain the rise in hay prices are because..God Bless goodluck to y'all!'❤
Yes you do grow some things. You grow Quarterhorses and Goats and chickens and whatever food you plant in your garden or planters.
Good luck on your field planting. I hope Hijo gets a wonderful home. He has already been through too much.
Good luck Allen with your grass fields.
Love the animal segments. Glad your planting for hay. It will be very interesting to see Eho become a ranch horse. Certainty will increase his prospects
So looking forward to all the baby animals on the farm. Puppies, baby goats, chicks, and sweet foals
There are all kinds of farms
Best to you
In the future after these fields are good, you may consider putting one of them as baling field. It can be done, but maybe in small snippets. Not all this year, but certainly will help with hay costs. It all costs, but you can get a bailer to help that may be reasonable. You will not need to purchase the equipment. It is done in eastern Washington.
Allan you and family do an amazing job with the horses I enjoy your videos
Thanks Alan for your determination to save these beautiful horses! Lovin’ the idea of planting grass! Good luck my friend!! ❤️🐴
Yes, you have a farm. You grow grass. Because it takes expensive equipment to put it up in the form of hay, you have your animals harvest the feed. It is very organic. No fossil fuels to harvest. Love the horses. They look great. Hoping for a dun filly from Chipper for you!
God Dam, $30 for a small square hay bale, I can remember when a big round bale was $50, craziness.
He didn't say the size of the bales
The horses sure were enjoying their brushing time.
Wonderful. I hope people know hard you work and how expensive it is. to rescue these horses. We are praying for you.
Nice to know you are planting grass and taking care of the land to do this for your horses.
Expensive just getting the fields ready and the seed.
There's that beautiful DUCHESS ❤❤❤❤
I’m interested in your grass growing endeavor. I’ve got about 8 acres and I need to plant horse pasture grass on part of it. So seeing how it goes for you will help to educate me.
Alan , you have farm animals, it's a farm , stay safe , enjoy !
I love ehoe!!❤
You should get with horse plus rescue . They have grants to help other rescuers. Money's and knowledge. They are in Tennessee. Wonderful group that rescue there horses from slaughter pipeline.
Open window lol senior moment. Sending hugs xxx
Well I think you grow beautiful horses, golden doodles, goats, etc
I admire and respect you and Vicki and all you guys do
Alan love your tale of the sewer pond 😂 Reminds me of the story of the boy who went down to the barn and saw a huge pile of manure. Grabbing a shovel he set to work. Asked why he was so happy he said “there’s got to be a pony under there somewhere!”
Maybe go to a chicken or milk farm or sheep farm maybe goat farm to see if they extra manure to help with the planting
If you are happy n content in what you and your family do that s all you can ask for in life , good health , a good partner husband / wife and a great family is what we all strive for ! In many ways your living your dream , ok maybe not wealthy but your happy , you do a lot of good things for the neglected horses , without you n your family many would starve to death or end up in the slaughter pipeline , you have a great family n wife Alan ... perhaps people with negative thoughts are a little jealous or just sad in their lives .... good luck in your lives !
Holy cow 30 dollars a bale Aweful l have 4 horses 1 being a percheron eats 1 bale per day its 11 dollars over here in the north east and its very rich 9 dollars for 1 cut praying for a better deal
Pray you have plenty of rain to get tue grasses matured and taking deep roots in the ground. Desert ground is rich in nutrients and when it rains it grows good grasses. Plant rye in the winter when it dies it is a natural fertilizer plus you can graze it some. Winter rye does good in the cold as well. You have a nice farm. 💕💕From East Texas.
Beautiful day and nice farm! Keep up the great work!
How many horses do you have at the moment...❓
You are talking really good Care of them 👍😊
So much fun, to see the horses going to you for attention 🤣😊
We have to irrigate in Colorado also! Hope you get a good stand of grass! All the horses are looking good!
I just ran out of the winter supply of hay today. Until I can get some more local grass hay, went to the feed store & bought 2 compressed bales of Timothy hay to fit in my car. Yikes! $25 a bale....🥴. 🌵☀️
ouch!
Hay is running $45.00 to $60.00 a bale here in Indiana this winter
Yikes. I thought $18 a bale of Timothy was bad.
Alan that’s a lot of work !! Brushing all those horses.
Prayers for your new pastures
Get on Patreon!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Reseeding the fields is a good idea, especially cause you have water! But if you ever have a hankering to grow your own hay.... they do now make smaller equipment(read affordable) for those of us with smaller acreage. I wish you the best of luck getting that field established!
Also, will you be looking for a new home for duchess?
The grazing horses will provide some fertilizer. Rain or irrigation help disperse . Too big a job to pick up!
Thank you for letting the people know about your gation and farming
Your doing the best you can just like everyone else ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
Good news, the price of fertilizer (in costal TX) is now about half what it was 18 months ago.
Oh wow! Where the thistles were. That is amazing.
Turn all that processed feed into green gold. After all, you have plenty of manure being produced by your herd of hay burners. Pile and properly compost it before using it on your field. You have a tractor and small spreaders aren't terribly expensive, especially if you can find a used one. That could cut your fertilizer costs significantly if you do it right. Other farms/stables in the area who have a manure pile may also be willing to give you theirs just to clear their property.
Such gorgeous horse's you guys are awesome taking in all them that need TLC. God bless you all!
Is this the pasture that has all the cockle burs? If it is, I hope that the new seeds fixes that problem. I live in South Carolina, I fight these little bulldog stickies. It's a constant battle. Good luck on your new pastures.
It's a constant battle in my area too. I'm just north of you by a couple of states. It seems worse the closer you get to the oceanfront too.
That is going to be great if it all grows. Ever bit helps, good ideas! I like the adventure.
I think so too!
Im with you guys ! I'm planting a lil mini pasture of ryegrass for my bunch.
Awesome!
You grow kids and grandkids
Good pasture grass is the best thing for horses
Your farm will grow ! 🙂
Amen you said it ,listen to them Alan
I love your Farm, and yes it is a great Farm, you and your family..is doing an amazing job 👍
Keep up your amazing job...
And if we are going there, what will you call a cattle farm.. if it is not a farm????
Nothing with weather is normal now. Theres a chance you'll get a lot more precipitation.
Love your sense of humour! Well said.
I’m on a road trip, and I saw a car that said your CZcams name
Is there any way to grow it organically and do it without chemicals? I love that you rescue beautiful horses and get them ship-shape to go to new homes! 🌞💛
A lot of people are just ignorant. "Farm" isn't just plants...dairy farms, sheep farms, beef cattle farms, horse farms, etc. City folks are ignorant about farms and ranches bc they want to believe farmers are as dumb as they think they are. Truthfully farmers are meteorologists, agronomists, amateur vets, geneticists (breeding/analyze blood lines), mechanics to upkeep their equipment, plumber, electrician..etc. a city dweller would not survive in a farm or wilderness environment.
Well said!
It will all work out!
In eastern Washington they irrigate alfalfa. Take it one step at a time.
You need a John Deere 🚜 r with the different fittings, I am sure they have the attachments available to harvest and bail alfalfa.
I love Iho ,I have had horses in the pass but in apartment now . But he reminds me of my favorite horse name was nugget after the casino in Carson city Nevada . my Mom worked there and bought her for me.
Anyway I wish I had one one Iho. I hope you keep him forever this way I will get to see him. I will send money for him for you to get him a horse toy or something ,he can share with his friends. I will send some off and on when I can . do you use a PO box thank you for all your whole family does love ya Pam from OKC
Alan and Farm when do you guys plan on taking E Ho to your neices boyfriend to get trained? Has Lex stated to fill up with Milk in her udder? Well Done Alan grooming and videoing at the same time. When do you guys plan on going to take Rawhide to his temporary home?
He us definitely a farm. He buys sells trades and rescues horses. He grows hay fields and gets it baled. Looks like your in the hay business now or growing pasture one. Your doing great. God will bless you. What are you going to do grow pasture or cut hay off it? Pasture. I think it's pasture.
I love ehoe!!
I am of the same faith, you have my Prayers & my faith that things will work out for you. Our Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ are on your side just keep the Faith & it will happen. 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾
