- Horse training isn't always easy - it requires patience, lots of time and sometimes even muscles. Watch as we train on the Mickey our blue roan filly Quarter Horse. She got injured so we need to take her to the vet. Loading this beauty was a little difficult - stay tuned to see if we got it done.

Pam here❤️The ‘clacking’ is a sign of submission, just like you said Allen, ‘I’m just a baby, don’t hurt me❤️ Mickey Blue is such a beautiful baby
She definitely positively responds to the Vet's soft voice and disposition. I get the sense that she would excel with a female trainer/owner/rider.
I find with a "new to the trailer" horse what helps them learn to trust in loading is to put a calm adult horse in first. Beautiful baby!
Lots of energy in Mickey. A gorgeous young horse. 💕
My first horse hated trailers that were enclosed. He was a harness trained full Morgan. I ended up riding him home from a neighboring town where we were riding in a parade. I ended saddle breaking him. He was a great fast little horse and I have fond memories of him
Hope she heals well 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️🩹
It’s soooo cute, while the Vet was rubbing on the hurt mouth, Blue Mickey was watching the Vet with her eyes turned sideways….
She's so good for letting the vet do this, clean the lip etc..
She's such a beauty as well. Hope she heals well and quickly, and gets to a good home 🌺
Blake is awesome with all the horses Good 👍 Job
When we had horses with trailer loading issues, I would park the trailer in the gate of their corral, tie open the door, and place their feed in the front of the trailer. It wouldn't take long before they would self-load every day to eat. Additionally, I would just load the horses now and then and take them for a nice little ride so they didn't associate the trailer with just going to the vet or anything else they might not enjoy. Additionally, when they were getting into the trailer, I would tell them to "load up", which became their cue to go into the trailer, corral or wherever I needed them to go.
Love how quiet she is in the trailer with Blake and the Vet....shows good mind and trust in Blake
I LOVED THE WAY SHE WAS LOOKING AT DOC WHILE SHE WAS CLEANING HER LIP. I THINK SHE FOUND HER VERY COMPELLING.
Congratulations Blake on graduating. Beautiful Mickie ❤❤❤
My thoughts and what always works for me is pressure and release on a young horse. Mickey is simply beautiful!! Love the clacking! Good video!! ❤️🐴
Mickey is a super beautiful filly. She’s sweet and smart. I think one day she’ll be awesome in western disciplines.
Funny that horses always is trying again.. when they succeed with it just once...
Love to see that you both are calm
You can tell us Blue Mickey is doing soooooo gooood when she doesn’t drag poor Blake around the yard…hahahaha. She just hasn’t been messed with…..(she’s gorgeous)
She's absolutely beautiful.
That’s a pretty horse! Powerful beast, too! Wow!
Well, here's a first for me. I'm adding Mikey to my Prayer List !
She is so beautiful, and so young, and she has been taken from a beautiful mountain pasture - leaving HER herd behind.
She finds herself among horses she does not know; who don't like her; she probably does not understand pecking order.
She is among humans she does not know; and she never learned how to survive as a wild horse.
Blue Lilly AKA Mikey - needs all of our prayers, gang. I'm gonna call her Gershom (Exodus 2:22 ) until she gets her place in this place. My heart is breaking for her. Her eyes are so expressive.
I'm certain that she sees herself as A stranger in a strange land. She needs Prayer.🙏🙏🙏 Love ❤🩹💔 and a safe place until she acclimates.
A bit of a challenge with a happy outcome for your gorgeous blue filly. Thanks for the video!
Good morning Alan, the way I've been told regarding clacking is exactly the way you said it. A baby will do that to bigger, older horses, just to let them know..... Hey, I'm just a baby and I pose no threat to you 😃🐴. So please be nice to me. Anyway, Blue Mickey is feeling her oats this morning, she's giving Blake a run for his money! 🤣 And you are so right again Alan, if there's one piece of anything in a huge pasture (in which your pastures are looking beautiful) but ANYTHING laying around, a horse will find, and get injured 🐎. Good luck at the vet, I'll keep watching. Love and Blessings always to my farm family on Route 66 ❤️🙌 Jennifer
That horse is beautiful!!
We've the rope on the bar
Your right hard times can make us stronger but sweeter :)
Good luck with her
Sweet beautiful Blue Mickie !!! ❤❤❤
Hope you get that animal all fixed up beautiful animal sorry you had to trouble loading her up. We always took the rope and stuck it through the side and that way she couldn’t just pull back and take off. You might try that next time but it’s great to be able to love on them to blessings, always
She is such a cutie! 🤗🥰🥰
Get some Vetercyn for that wound. It works better than anything I've tried.
Mickey is beautiful.
Oops!
Hope all ends well😊.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Poor baby 💕🥰💕
Man, she is a pretty filly! I love grays, but they are so prone to abscesses. One of mine had a chronic abscess in a front hoof and another would get baseball size abscesses, mostly on his face. My husband punctured them. It was like runny cottage cheese coming out, but we won't talk about the smell!
That blue halter sure looks good on Blue Mickey!
Yep I think she tried poking her nose where it didn't belong. Praying she heals quickly with minimal scaring. 💖🙏💖
Need to show her it's uncomfortable away from the trailer and she has comfort near the trailer.
The little bugger is rearing up too much. (And look how she just jumped up…loaded right up.
Get some of grandma’s pine tar ointment on her! 🌲
That little Mickey needs to meet Amry.
Great job kid!!!!
Congrats, Blake, on graduating! God bless you on your mission trip!
Blake you're going to have to get her trained to load before you leave on your mission! Sge is a good-looking filly!
She is such a beautiful baby. Hope she heals fast without any trouble.
I always trained them to load as babies by putting the trailer to a pen gate and feed in the trailer. doesn't take long and the load themselves.
She is a pretty blue roan.
A horse trainer showed me a trick where if the horse doesn’t want to load to tie a plastic bag to a stick and wave it behind the horse. The horse is more afraid of the plastic bag than the trailer.
Mickey is gorgeous, I love a gray horse! I can't wait to see her grow up!
She looks more like a Blue Roan to me. Which is a roan gene on a black horse. If she was a gray I don't thing you could see it at her age. Greys start the base color (black, bay or sorrel) and lighten over time. A black horse would turn grey then end up white. Where a roan will stay close to the same color over the years.
Such a pretty colt! I am glad you took her to the doctor this quick .
Quite pulling on her head. You must tap hard enough to make her uncomfortable but not hurt her. It almost always works, see. That is a filly that wants to be good.
Quick question, would she maybe have followed another horse into the trailer?
Can the vet come out to the farm?
Feeding the algorithm.
Pressure and release would work well for her instead of a constant pulling on her head
She knows you better
I know this is an older video - if Mickey got kicked by another horse is it possible the wound on her lip was a bite from another horse? I've seen more recent videos so I know her " owie" healed up just fine! She sure is beautiful!
This is exactly how my blue roan acted when we first tried getting her in the trailer 🤔
You were hitting her on the swollen spot on her left rear (i told you about a few days ago)...just hoping you see it sooner or later.
After her lip heals up, you should consider breeding her to your Golden Boy, I bet the baby would be beautiful and unique.
Never had a horse (sadly) but why wouldn't you lure her with a high value treat? That's what I'd try with a dog (successfully). She's so pretty, what an unusual color. I hope she gets over her fears and becomes someone's beloved dream horse ❤
In the future I'd suggest moving the feet get her to the entrance then back her up turn her and lead back off towards the entrance again as soon as she stops moving forward back her turn her in a circle and repeat make the "wrong" choice more work than the right/wanted choice. ❤️❤️ yall are doing great with her though
You can also make it a bridge to her favorite place put it between the paddock and position it so that the front exit door is towards her food station. Walk her all the way through a few times while someone is standing by the other exit shaking feed
This pretty girl has some spunk.
You need to learn to walk her around and then toward the loading area of the trailer..then away from it several times. Then with a hold of her halter simply walk her into the loading end without turning away and straight into the trailer.
Maybe she got bit by another horse. what a sweetie.
He doesn't want to go.
Hey Alan, have you ever checked out Ryan Rose videos. He really has a great training method for getting horses on the trailer.
Thanks for the tip
MAYBE IF YOU
PUT A LITTLE BIT OF HAY AT THE FRONT END
OF THE TRAILER
IT MIGHT GIVE
THE HORSE A
BIT ENCOURAGEMENT
❤💯🙏🙌👏
🤩☺️💗💙💖💜
Mick is like NO!!!!
Nice haircut by the way Mr Blake!
😊🙂😍
MAYBE IF YOU
PUT A LITTLE BIT OF HAY AT THE FRONT END
OF THE TRAILER
IT MIGHT GIVE
THE HORSE A
LITTLE BIT OF
ENCOURAGEMENT 😅😅😅
You might want to inform yourself on CDL ... one can help animals a lot with CDL ... heals very good with CDL
😂😂😂
🤔might be she’s hurt her lip not being familiar with the waterpump?
His front feet stay too far from each other, is it rahit??
Where do you live in Arizona?
What will you do without your son doing everything daily?
Looks like a "summer sore" to me. She might need to be dewormed.
How old is blue mickey?
1 yr
Use a button rooe
When you see your horse doing the clacking thing you're actually being subordinate you're saying I'm a baby do not hurt me it's a sign that they showed to be subordinate like to watch when they lick and chew when they start feeling comfortable around it's just tell another horse I'm just a baby and I am subordinate
Sucker is fast
Alfalfa or hay
Clacking is a sign of submission. A don't hurt me I'm your friend chat
The mare that is fighting with her. You need to take her out. That sore on her mouth is from another mare biting on her. She is way to small to be bullied. You need to put her in a secured place or take that mare out who is doing it 😡
Okay, I'm saying this with respect to anyone who may take offense to it...the constant tapping on the the rear is making her mad (notice the ears) and is also distracting to the mission! Try laying off of the tapping & maybe a little bribery with a sweet apple. Just saying every horse is different.
