Isn’t it? This is the first and only (so far) quilt that I reviewed via Zoom. It is an amazing quilt with an amazing story! Thank you so much for watching it.
Happy Sunday. I don't have any UFOs that old, I would love the challenge. Mixing old with new is so freeing, the blue border looks great. The price 👍😁 Thank you I enjoyed that.
That was interesting. Did someone in the family draw those pictures and then someone else in the family embroider them? What stitch would have been used to sew them. Stem stitch? Love how it was all put together. Was blue a traditional colour to use?
Great questions! The pattern was called American Home Patterns, and Andi's great grandmother embroidered them after tracing the design onto the background blocks, or at least that is my guess. The embroidery stitch used is the traditional stem stitch in blue floss. Blue is a traditional color used as well as black, but red (redwork) is definitely the most popular. I hope this helped! Thanks so much for watching!
I wish she had shown us the back! When/if that quilt ever gets washed she'll probably add some color catchers in there in case there is any color bleeding.
We talked a bit about that after we made the video, and yes, she will. She said she will also test some spots before she washes it, if she ever does. Great points!
Thank you! I pay more attention to antique quilt since I been watching your video. Many times the sell will embellish the facts to get us to buy. Not in this case you have the facts.
Thanks so much for taking a look at my quilt! Such fun to chat with you 💙🎉💙

Is this a true antique quilt?
Good question! I guess it is more of a hybrid, but it is a great example of what we can do do save the old unfinished quilts. ❤️
